Con Air Dash-8Q400 AT at Regina Int'l Airport + Con Air/Saskatchewan Media Announcement (April 2024)

On April 23rd, Con Air and the province announced that Saskatchewan had purchased four Dash-8-400 Air Tankers to renew its land-based tanker fleet. The deal is for two Dash-8-400 AT which will have fixed underbelly tanks, and for two Dash-8-400 MREs which will have a removable underbelly tank, and can be used for multiple other purposes such as cargo hauling, medivacs, etc.
The aircraft will be delivered over three years starting in 2025 and will phase out Saskatchewan's older Convair 580s. Saskatchewan also became the first province in Canada to order the Dash-8-400 Tanker as it upgrades its firefighting fleet to become more efficient.
Displayed at the media event was a Con Air Dash-8 Tanker, C-FFQF, to showcase what Saskatchewan's new aircraft will look like in the future. Here they are departing YQR and heading back to Abbotsford. I would also like to thank the YQR Airport Authority for inviting me to this event! I've been on a few Dash-8-400s but it definitely felt different stepping onto one that was stripped down with a massive 10, 000L tank underneath.
