i like how they compared it to a personnel carrier from the early 60s....
they should have included a model t as well...
The armored version protects against munitions up to 50cal, and it's significantly smaller profile and higher speed and maneuverability makes it a much harder target for RPG's. The Ripsaw can also handle terrain the M113 can not, and the Ripsaw can be unmanned, the latter being it's primary purpose, as it was intended to primarily be an unmanned platform.
People need to quit comparing it to a fucking tank. They serve two very different purposes. It's like comparing a golf cart to a full loaded SUV.
Love the ripsaw. But theres nothing "Baja" about that Dodge.
This would be good for a fast response rescue vehicle. Particularly in remote areas. I could imagine these in areas in Alaska and northern Canada.
Where's the seats for 11 passangers on that fancy go-buggy you got there? Or the armour plating? Surely, they cannot have forgotten the 50cal?

that dodge isnt very built, at least it doesnt look like its built for desert, nonetheless, its freakin sick, and 5 miles a gallon? yeah right, probably more like 5 gallons a mile =P
The voice and music in this vid is over the top. Trying to make it sound all epic. Btw what possible application does US army see with ripsaw, its not a tank or apc . Its more of a race platform.

@mikeylama thats kinda the point.... there is NO other tracked vehicle, experimental or not the u can compare a Ripsaw to!!! They took the quickest track vehicle in the Army... there is no other vehicle... that's what makes Rippy awesome. A truck w mattracks??? it would get mopped up bad... can a mattrax truck beat a wheeled truck on gravel... nope
Id like to see the Ripsaw go thru a wall or trees like the APC, cmon its a show vehicle at best.Why not compare it with a 500 CC Moto-cross bike.

yeah in the other video with the Col. it has plating and also a .50cal sniper system. Which I might add can be shot from the interior while the gun is mounted on the exterior. There is a focusing camera that works with where the sniper rifle is aimed. Nifty

If they can make it legal, that monster would have a serious edge in an off road race like the baja 500. It's supposedly indestructible, and even against baja truck, tracks dont even compare to wheels...

around 1200hp versus a piece of steel tubing and a special clutch
@RockDoctor07 Both of us is right it is multi-fuel turbine engine. But my point was it will fly and drive on water if you strip it as this vehicle. I am not saying that Ripsaw is a bad machine, personally i think it is a bad ass product and genius idea for offroading, but comparison in this video is just wrong. I'd compare it to H1 with mattracks then no one can say it is not fare or something.
My buddies 43 army "weasel" with 6 cyl flat-head studeabaker engine could do anything ripsaw could do ....just sloooooower. ........................... GOD I miss that weasel. We pulled 100's of big badass trucks outa the swamp with it.

Must a set u back several dollars, but as can see it was well worth the effort. Of course you were competing agaist nothing, a Dodge Ram and nothing is the same thing. Nonetheless, you got yourself a good machine. Bravo, my most sincere congratulations. Seems to me nothing can really compare with such an awesome machine.

probably recon, or a forward scout vehicle. get in and out quick. thing is it would need something to dampen the noise from the exhaust.
Add the same level of armor, number of buns and people as the other tank and lets see the runs again

I agree and would like to establish the point of it being a recon vehicle. Other than being a recon, it would be pointless. The M113 is even better than this thing in the regard of it came close to the Ripsaw's speed yet the M113 has (yes it is light) armor. I still think M113 is the best of the three contestants here.

If you are comparing it to a military vehicle then you should hide few gunners with at least AK47 in bushes and see how competitive it is. It is fastest cuz other military vehicles are made for ultimate survival on battle field and equipped with lots of armor and other stuff. I can bet if you take guns and armor from A1M1 Abrams it's 1000+hp turbo diesel engine will make it go over 100mph on any terrain and even on water.
@offroadgodzilla I second that, It's funny how people with zero military knowledge will assume something is not up to par because of it's age, they seem to think that just because it was designed in the 60's it's still a 60's assembled vehicle with all the original parts and design, not even close. The M113 has been updated every 8-10 years to keep it fresh. This shows you they got it right the first time around and there are a lot of countries still with frontline 113's that are combat ready.
The ripsaw is badass, but it has no armor. And armor is heavy, so I am not to sure

@southberwick3 I really see speed of that machine :). It will find it's uses for sure, I just don't like this whole idea about making from it... tank. Guys who made it, know what they to. It's a fact. Hope this machine will serve true and good purpose.

You must be right, altho I believe, they did not designed this wehicle to gravel surface :). An other thing come to my mind: since this vehicle is (this is strictly my opinion) not a mainstream APC, not a battletank, I believe this could be great for recon. It's agile, and has a great speed, but with speed comes the big question: fuelsonsumption. A recon team has to be able to operate in the field for maybe as long as a week, and cover great distances between the DZ and the AO.
I would rather put my ass in an M113. At least i have something standing in between me and a bullet. Still, an impressive vehicle.

113 is like the slowest..sure it will out run m-88.but,the Bradley is faster than it..113 tops out at like 35,Bradley will do 45 loaded..and still will not catch an m-1 at 60mph..113 should retire or upgrade.good running track tho..

It's gotta stay light, or it'll be slowed way down by armor ,equipment, people. Let's see if they will scale it up to even get close to what the bradley can do.

Nice toy. Sure you can go 60mph (or more) on grass, sand etc. Question is WHAT FOR? You compare it to "tank" or "SUV" it's like telling that bicycle has better acceleration than... 18 wheal truck.
