For those having trouble defining the meaning of dancehall music. THIS IS THE REAL JAMAICAN DJ/DANCEHALL MUSIC! NOT those GARBAGE that you are (currently) hearing. This IS the DEFINITION of🇯🇲DANCEHALL MUSIC!
Dancehall is going to evolve through time but there’s no denying there are peaks and valleys of genius along the way . The original toasters at the beginning were the first pinnacle. I would say the next creative peak was 1990, when you had artists writing their own materials, some of the most wicked riddims were created, and lots of sound systems were working. After that, slackness gained foothold and there was a competition on how disgusting you could be and still get airplay! Worldwide popularity also ensued, and when you focus money on something, it grows. Finally, the death knell of dancehall creativity -and any music genre - occurred when a song just became a product. The art is gone now, along with artists expressing themselves in song, replaced by the focus on making money. RIP Reggae Dancehall, we loved you.
So SAD!.. and incidentally, the writer of that song (Bunny Wailer) has just passed away a few weeks after Daddy U-Roy passing. May they rest in power with the ancestors.🖤 from 🇯🇲. Give thanks for the great works! This tune is SWEET!
@@kevindore6120 I have to watch Rockers, again. I never noticed U-Roy was in it. Eventhough the Star of that movie, great Drummer Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace plays on some of my music.
@@papawilberforce8098 ... many more also, including "Hello Carol" singer Gladiator Albert Griffiths. And great musician Dalton Brownie, Millie Small, etc etc...
U Roy King of toasters, singing one of his massive tunes in the early 80's, sounding just as good as he did 40 Years ago with his Amazing Quality Voice, Big Up to the Sax Player massive Respect to everyone in the band.
If you didn't know you should have asked someone that would tell you that the truth is the only light 🕯️. Dance hall music is the steps of knowledge, moves of the presence to forward on. Catch my drift. Jah Rastafari, tears of joy only 😂😅.
Captivating Saxophone Performance by this Talented Lady: 3:52>: + I love Wind Instruments of Music. Heavenly Blessings to Daddy U Roy, forever. Enchanting and Deeply Touching Reggae Music.
Instead of fussing and fighting Why not just get together And live in one love and one unity, you know? Rebel in the morning, rebel in the evening too Now don't you be like the devil When I play the sounds call a rebel, rebel, rebel
