Wow, I never thought I would see an orchestra perform "Battle in the Snow" live. "Empire Strikes Back" is still my favorite movie out of the ORIGINAL Trilogy and favorite score out of the 3. I can remember seeing this when it was first released in theaters at 6 years old, the days before social media ruined everything. Being a little kid in 1980 was fantastic, four years before Transformers and five years before the release of the NES. The future was lookin' mighty good.
Battle in the Snow goes so hard. There's not a lot of classical scores that are so intense and restless. It's definitely its own character and any orchestra that performs it uninterrupted deserves applause and a big glass of water afterwards.
I don't understand why people are getting up in arms over the audience reacting to the movie. It is brief and respectful. If you can't handle that then i feel very sorry for you. Perhaps you should stay home and watch it with headphones. Star Wars is meant to be enjoyed loud and with an audience.
The whole point of what makes this a special experience is that it's a live performance of the soundtrack, so yeah it's extremely disrespectful to scream at the top of your lungs.
29:19: Too bad they didn't use the original "Get my Shuttle!" dialog. Very cool. Too bad I didn't hear about this one. The only time I've been to something similar was the last time I went to the Bowl, in the Before Times, for their Humans In Space (for real) night. The Philharmonic played along to scenes from various movies such as The Right Stuff, Apollo 13, and Hidden Figures. I'm trying to remember what other movies. It seemed like half of JPL and SpaceX were there. (and the rest were probably stuck at work)

I seen this 6/29 and it was amazing. The accuracy of the performace was incredible.
Awwwww…That is so cool!! Mark Hamill actually rescued me from a fall in the 70’s, as he sat with Nell Carter a the bar in New York!
23:10 made me LOL. Thanks for including 'attacking a star destroyer'
Listen to that piccolo clarinet wailing away there! I love it. That ish isn’t easy. 😍
The battle of Hoth, one of the most complex score in terms of tempo and orchestration. Great performance.

I do. Call me an old timer, but when it is a live performance you should keep to yourself until
It is over imo

I LOVE IT! Thank you! loving the lifesavers :-D
This is so fucking funny seeing people waving their lightsabers around like children LOL
The fucking echo of Vader’s voice in all of this video just makes me so damn relaxed especially at the no I am your father part.
Hope they still do stuff like this: watching a movie while in a musical concert
Stockholm Concert Ochestra is performing Empire Strikes Back in april next year so it is very much still a thing.

Nice to hear wedge get some love
Because he’s the most recognisable character from the original trilogy
The longevity of the lightsabers batteries is impressive...most impressive.
I hope they do this again near NY I’d love to see it
I hope I can watch all of them at the movie theater.
Excellent
the music takes me back to Lego star wars the complete saga

New Fan: So how do you damage the Walkers?
Me: You don’t..
I wanna see this live lamo
These movies were perfect
It’d be nice if Hollywood Bowl did the DESPECIALIZED EDITIONS of the Original Trilogy.
What happened to The City in the Clouds?
Great
Glad I went to this in Denmark, no Clapping, no lightsabers, no people talking while they were playing the music.
Robert no fun either lol
@@BlazeTheGamer1 are you saying people can't enjoy the music without needlessly clapping while the music is being played, because that makes no sense.
@@Robert-tj1nc man it's not a library, people enjoyed watching this and clapping is what happens.
@@gingerninja699 I think you and I can agree that we don't share the same opinion on this topic.
@David Malcolm and yours is a good depiction of what you look like in real life
