  • Joanna visits with Amanda Robertson, USDA-Farm Service Agency Beginner Farmer Regional Coordinator of Kentucky & Tennessee to discuss the USDA and Farm Service Agency.
The USDA, or United States Department of Agriculture, provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, rural development, nutrition, and related issues based on public policy, the best available science, and effective management. The USDA is made up of 29 agencies and offices with nearly 100,000 employees who serve the American people at more than 4,500 locations across the country and abroad. The core values described in our strategic plan provide our workforce with direction and goals along with milestones that we use to measure our progress, and help to guide decisions about our budget, programs and services. The Farm Service Agency is equitably serving all farmers, ranchers, and agricultural partners through the delivery of effective, efficient agricultural programs for all Americans. I really don't see how the usda helps you to start farming. I registered. Did I miss something?

We don’t need a “ farm service agency”. What a waste of money.

No?? Well, then in support of this comment, you should stop eating Meat, Fruits, Vegetables and Dairy Products.
FSA has been around since the dust bowl, ensuring that the Farmers and Ranchers of America are able to not only support them selves, but also support the growing need and demand of farm goods. IN rural America, where all of the above products are grown and distributed from is much different then the big city. Nothing Magically appears on the shelves at your local super market.
The FSA protects and looks after our Farmers and Ranchers to protect them from government control and allows them to grow and produce for maximum stability and sustainability to provide for 330+ Million Americans. In most cases, provide the same produce and livestock to other countries, being a staple in the economy.
But, you are right, it is a waste of money.

@@MrJimbofett Isn't that what the USDA does? or the FDA? Too many organizations pretty much overlapping.
