  • This is a collection of three short tutorials. This is meant for beginners making their first helmets.
    Tutorials are:
    1. Measuring and making helmet templates. I know some of you struggle with this since I certainly did. I will continue to upload all the templates I use though but maybe this tutorial will some of you.
    2. Dishing the helmet pieces. This is fairly simple but when I made my first helmets, I had some trouble with it so hope this helps.
    3. A very simple helmet liner. This certainly isn’t perfect, but I thought I’d share it anyway if it helps anyone.

this channel is such a goldmine , I did the hand armor last week and then I tried to make a bascinet helmet but with litle knowledge of how to make the round shapes the bascinet is turning into some kind of round great helm with a moving face plate. If I start all over again Iwill use the technique shown here to shape the helmet.

That is great to hear, thank you very much. I just started a new helmet and it really saves time if you use the big hammer first. And it's a good hand exercise too. Your helmet design sounds interesting too

I like this channel for it gives many usefull informations and showing clearly how you do steps (some top blacksmith channels should learn it from you). Also you are not playing with some 3000$ machine tools but simple hand tools and proving its possible to do it with lower cost. It's unfair for me you have so fiew views.

Thank you very much for the motivation! Clear instructions is what I'm aiming for and I'm glad it seems that way to you too. And yeah the views are low, but I hope they go up at some point. I still like what I do, so I'm not too worried

Of course, but it makes the helmet bigger too.
