AS A SIDE NOTE: I have purchased 4 Kel-Tec Firearms in the last two years and I have done much research about this product! I have discovered that those of us who pay attention to the Manufacturers Instructions in their User Guide, usually have No Problems at all! They recommend certain things to do and ammo to use along with other tips that are not needed with other firearms and their guns are truly designed a bit different and made with more plastic parts but everything that they do is for a good reason and if everyone would read and follow their guidelines, problems that I have been reading about will not occur! I am 78 years old and I have a wealth of knowledge about all types of Firearms and Yes, it was hard for me at first to understand and accept these New Designs in Guns because I have always been "Old School", when it came to Guns But things change as you get older and Wiser and you must be more open minded and ready to take a chance and make adjustments in your life! I shoot more Now, have more Fun and I am saving a bunch of money on ammo! LIFE is GOOD!
Sorry to say I disagree. They recommended the exact ammo I bought for the firearm and I used both a loader and hand loaded the magazines. (Yes I did watch the official KEL-TEC tutorial on how to load this firearm) The fact is the tolerances in the CMR 30 magazine catch are not precise enough to feed reliably.
I have read a number of reviews and most say a company called American speed loader, I believe, it is a company Kel Tech recommends for loading their mags does a great job and the reviewers have said they had no problems once they stated using it. I also talked to a gun dealer at a gun show about his opinion of the CMR30. He said, “ the first time I took it out I had nothing but trouble. I was too smart to read the owner’s manual. I came home, read the manual, followed the instructions on ammo and loading the mags and took it out again. It worked perfectly “. One of the other commenters said he thought he knew all about guns but foud out the same thing. It’s best to read the owners manual you may learn something new and your gun will probably work correctly.
Thanks for this vid. I’m going to buy one. Held off because of mixed reliability reviews. 22 magnum is a tough cartridge for various manufacturers to get reliable in a semi auto. MCARBO!!!!
Some people have no issues with the gun and some have feeding issues right out of the box. Luckily if you get a bad one just drop in that mcarbo magazine catch and you should be back in business. I love my CMR 30
For what it's worth, consensus seems to be that CMR 30s are a real hit or miss straight from the factory. Some work smoothly, but lemons that half-chamber rounds aren't uncommon. Whether that's sloppy craftsmanship or just a consequence of tight tolerances, I dunno, but that's where you see people giving negative reviews about the gun. Mine was such a case, so I just sent it to Kel Tec for some polishing and fine tuning (it's what the warranty is for!). It's been running flawlessly since then. Took a little over 2 weeks between initial shipping and final receiving, and Kel Tec covers all the costs. People can whine about it, and maybe it's fair to expect a product to work out of the box, but honestly for this specific gun it's no big deal. Just expect it and don't succumb to buyer's remorse if you have to send it in. It's a fantastic gun and there's nothing else like it on the market.
Well, even though you had some Issues with this Gun, You seem to like it enough to be one of your favorites! I am a Kel-Tec user and I now have three of them to play with, I have two P17's and a CP33 which have all been Flawless right out of the box with over thousands of rounds! I was thinking very seriously about purchasing this CMR30 as my next purchase but I have been reading in other posts of some nagging Issues with this model and also the PMR hand gun but I will have to do a bit more research before I go for either one! I don't use accessories on any of my guns and I choose to shoot them just the way they come from the Factory! I do some times change the Factory Sights but I shoot with Iron sights only! Thanks for the review and Good Luck!
Yeah the tolerance just isn't tight enough from the factory. The nose of the bullet hit the mag well causing a jam, instead of landing on the feed ramp. (In my experience)
These guns are every ammo sensitive. I have found that mine runs flawlessly on CCI Maxi-mags. It's also tends to like higher grains. I have some cheap white box winchester that it CAN run, but not very reliably (malfunction every 5-10 rounds). If you read the manual, it actually states that these run best with higher grain ammo. I have 4 magazines total, 2 of which I bought after getting the gun. For some reason, the ones I got afterwards are terrible. They have binding issues galore, I have yet to solve this issue. Overall, they're a very fun gun to shoot. I am about to do some steel plinking with mine, which I have never done, and I think it's gonna be a blast.
I've also found 40 grain CCI to be the best and most reliable. Luckily, they have it at my local Walmart. I get a box everytime we go grocery shopping.
I'm currently working on a Glock 19 x Halo Magnum build. After I finish this I'll probably go out and shoot both I'll probably get some footage and upload it on here
Keltec is very innovative but I’ve not been lucky with their quality control. Failures to feed, fire and eject with other models. I like this one but won’t take the chance.
Because of the high prices of ammo, I did take the Chance on them and I now have 4 of their Guns that have run Flawless. right out of the box! NO, I do Not Work for Them!
I'm not gonna lie. I love the idea of kel-tec, but their poor material and QC means it costs the customer more. It's unacceptable that we have to buy things like magazine releases
It's actually a Sig Sauer Romeo MSR. Pretty good for range toys. Also when you have as many range toys as I do you find what holds zero for cheap and stick with em
@@kurticus Yes, how is that relevant to putting video game accessories on your weapons? If it improves your weapons performance or sight picture by all means use it. Going for a "ghetto" look is a disgrace. Marksmanship is a martial art. Learn some respect for that concept and it will take you to a higher level.
This might be a big ask, but could we get the STEP files for the extension? Someone might be able to get that spine working, and I'm sure the community would be over the moon.

Keltec has been trash and will always be trash. They make guns for fun and oddity. MOST DEFINITELY not reliability...
I just picked up my cmr30 yesterday and I’m already in love with it

KEL TEC CMR 30 is a great gun. I love it so much. It is very easy to load 30 rounds of bullet with Speed Loader in 9 magazines.

Wish someone could make a conversion kit for a PMR30
I would like to know since you put the new mag catch if you can say it runs reliable.

It is probably my favorite gun, great mag capacity, no recoil, small, comfy and decent amount of power in the .22mag
That's good to know about the magazine release, I wouldn't have thought it would impact feeding.

With the mag release upgrade can you shoot any amo brand other than cci??
Please advise
I love mine.
Suggestion....move your red dot forward more. Hard to explain but youll see once you do it.
Thanks for the vid!
Thanks buddy much appreciated 👍
Beautiful
The fake cans or out of stock😤Good to know about the other mods. I was looking at them.
How did you install the new mag release?
Mcarbo has videos
I really want to love these..but Keltec needs better Quality Control.
Not True any more! Bad reputation is hard to Kick but as a user of 4 Of their Guns, they have vastly Improved on everything!
@@stevekatz4372 where I live there about $700.00
Sadly I agree I shouldn't have to buy aftermarket parts to get a gun to fire more than 5 shots without a jam
Can you help me?
what type of ammo do you use also do you just use the stock mags it comes with or is there other name brand mags that will fit
I have only seen stock mags and I use cci maxi maga. Last week I shot 150 rounds with no jams
@@kurticus You should release a shooting video of it

I don't think I can link to it with UA-cam policies
