I am happy that you have this under control.
You are such a wonderful leader and teacher. Thanks for sharing
I appreciate hearing the differences of the Avantis to the SQ for virtual soundcheck. Thanks for the details on all this stuff. The double patching for IEM is great. I use SQ5/6 on corporate talking head General Session shows and the Avantis at 2 churches. Once of the churches I am reconfiguring stuff.
Great video. Thanks.
I believe you can store various input patches in the library on the I/O screen, instead of using the scenes.
You’re absolutely right! I’ve been using scenes because I’ve found it super useful for saving the accompanying gain structure, but I should’ve mentioned this!
You can store a routing in a library (press library button in routing menue and store routing) so you don't have to save scenes.
Very true! I’ve just been using scenes to save gain structure and a few other parameters within each routing patch but I probably should’ve mentioned that!
I’ve been thinking about the avantis for a while but I’ve seen many problems with it. It’s common to hear the sq does better with reliability. I don’t know why that is. It should t be.
Fortunately, or unfortunately as it may be, this is the first issue we've had out of the Avantis and it's been in service at our campus since Sept. of 2022. That said, I agree, it shouldn't be. An issue of this magnitude in a console of this price just simply shouldn't be.
The way I do it is to save the IO patch, that way regardless of the scene I'm on, I can just swap between IO patches. I have one for local and stagebox and one for virtual sound check using USB. Nice job
Quick question, how does the Avantis compare to the SQ looking at it for an upgrade in 2 or 3 years, if nothing new comes on the market by then.
@@sholasleekthat’s a great option too! I just use scenes so it saves the accompanying gain structure per patch to the snapshot and the show file. But now that you’re mentioning that, I wish I had discussed that! 😂
In answer to your question, the Avantis is quite the upgrade. Both UIs feel related so as far as navigation, there’s not too much of a learning curve, but overall the Avantis console just seems to breathe and flow better. My workflow is faster and smoother sense there’s two giant touch screens, which means less digging to get to things and being and to multitask between the two screens is nice.
There’s one large advantage that SQ currently has over Avantis from an install perspective: permissions. While I can lock down anything I want on the Avantis, I cannot make things disappear the way I can on the SQ. With the sq series, I can literally prevent users from moving into other layers, while on the Avantis I cannot do that. Overall, my fav console is still the Avantis, but I’m very happy with the SQ series as well. The other big difference is the virtual sound check obviously, but that was a deal breaker for me when it came to choosing my FOH console. Avantis is still the winner in my mind.
I have 2 Avantis for sell. With GX4816 $13500
@@kjesmith model number on the Avantis for sale? Don’t need stage box. Thanks.
@ forgot to grab it. I will get it today.
How do you build your mixer booth? Is it ready-made?
It was ready made and was here before I was. However, it definitely has its flaws. I may do a short vid showing how it works. I would much rather have a single stack flip case or something like that. Too much space means extra places for people to dump their junk 🤦🏼♂️
@ thank you
What are those ipad mounts you are using?
@calebgall they’re Arkon mounts. They’re available on Amazon. The nicer version is by trackform but they’re double the price. I really like the Akron’s except that if you have someone who’s lazy and refuses to loosen the clamps before moving them, the plastic pieces get loose and wiggly. But other than that, they’re great! link below!
