Great video fella. On catnic I would still put a timber prop midway take out any sag as your building it👍👍
Yea I cut the piece of batten I use as the gauge rod the width of the opening and prop that under the lintel, two birds with one stone 👍
Very good video Andy . 👍 your very easy to listen to . And most importantly very interesting to listen to.

How would you get the tight joints is that with lime putty?
Yes mate, proper gauged brickwork with 1/2mm joints lime putty is used.
Great explanation auld pal👍🏻 I’ll be rained off tomorrow 🍻
Lol👍
Ur proper old school mate not many of us left it's all profile kids now
We do the same with 7/8 mil joints but they're pre cut we just have too lay them. Shame. Great video tho
I wish I done my time under your wing ...apprenticeship not porridge I mean . 👍🏻🍺
Is this the job in north London
No mate just a demo.
The proper flat camber arch was done with a camber slip, cant do that on a catnic these days
Exactly, but as I explained it doesn't seem to need it on a Catnic as the horizontal plane of the lintel seems to take away the impression of sagging.
Great Andy most so called bricklayers don't no how to do this it's all about the money now shame
