Onya battler! Yer never so down that a bit of a daft laugh - ala, with these pair of clowns - can't brighten your spirits and just maybe bring a smile to your lips. Smile on, Soldier.. 💜 🙂
Fender runs Grestch, but the guitars are done in many other places, factories, and the Grestch company is a company by itself, that belongs to Fender, as Jackson and Squier. They can have better quality in their guitars because the company runs separated from Fender.
Not too long ago, I got to play that red one in a store and instantly vibed with it. I loved the tone, the feel of the neck, the way it played, the fit and finish. Everything about it was awesome. I never ended up buying one, but now I think I might as it's a guitar I never really got out of my head. You know, like a lover you never got to be with but never forgot. I never really was into the red color, either as I wanted the blue one but for some reason, that red stuck in my head as it was the one I liked. So, I'm going to get a red one because hell yes.
Rob: *does great pull up tremolo lick* Lee: Oh! I thought you were gonna snap the tremolo arm off there! Rob: I would have tried for the glory of the Cult.
I'm totally stealing your googly-eyes face motif for the new "G5232T" which I just now purchased! That's for a great and highly entertaining video, fellas! 🤪
Chappers, that is THE most sustain I’ve ever heard from a Gretsch (and I’m a Gretsch owner and a Gretsch LOVER). THAT, however, was sublime. I had to do a quick rewind-(I am multitasking)-to be certain you weren’t using an E-Bow, 😂.
I actually fell in love with a surf green Junior Jet P90. Love the neck shape and the sound. It replaced my Epiphone LP Standard as main guitar and the red Duo Jet will be my next guitar I think.
As far as tuning stability there is one solution I have found it's to get rid of the main culprit: the tune-o-matic bridge. Replace it with a Wayne Compton compensated bar bridge. Between that and stretching the strings it will hold the tuning much better as well as intonate just fine. The Bigsby is NOT the problem.
UA-cam fed me a 5 minute commercial with a B&G Little Sister before the video started, that I watched entirely, so now it doesn’t really matter any more how good that Gretsch may be.
If you don't have his little jig down it's not Sanctuary! I've been practicing that move for years in my head and I'm ready to bust it out next time I'm on the dance floor.
I bought one of these, brilliant guitar, sounds awesome plays awesome. My only criticism is it has a bit of neck dive when you stand to play. But that's fixable.
@@sugarlife485 my trick is to wrap my strap around my belt, it seems to do the trick. Either that, or I get a cheap strap and put a caribiner on it where it needs to be on my belt to eliminate the neck dive.
I have the very similar G5655t and to help it stay in tune I had to put a roller bridge on it. Mine has a different neck PUP, has centre block construction with no rear access covers, I suppose because it’s hollow body instead of chambered.
Guitars sound great, look great and there’s the captain playing some good guitar;let her loose captain anderton, rob of course sounding great like always.....
What a great guitar! I love Gretsch, even more than a White Dove, sorry, Rob... But you two are great players so it's easy to make them sound great. This video really lightened my day. Thank you!
Good Intro. Funny, we uploaded a Gretsch video at the same time. I didn´t play "She Sells Sanctuary" for copyright reasons but you had the balls to do it. Great stuff! But you should do a bit of research first. That song is from 1985 from the "Love" album - psychedelic goth rock and the "Electric" album is from 1987 - pure straight rock. Keep up your great work!
These were 350 quid new for years and years and are 500 or so now for no apparent reason. Only guitar I ever sold. I think it was cos of the neck dive.
I love the Dark cherry metallic and the Tahiti Red, though I could never pull off the latter. As for tuning stability: get a roller bridge, get locking tuners. I lubricate with silicone gun oil. I take the condom off the wiggle stick.
I would have liked to see a comparison between this model and the older G5441T model that this replaced and of which I own. The differences I can see are the colours, inlays- mine have the camel hump block inlays instead of thumb nail, fretboard now is laurel(?) instead of rosewood, and the biggest difference is the older model was made of basswood while the new model is mahogany. Also the older model was about $100 cheaper. So without playing them side by side it's hard to say which one is better. Points go to the new model for mahogany vs. basswood and more vibrant colours. Older model has the advantage for a rosewood fretboard and a lower price. Inlays are a personal preference and hard to say one is better than the other. Pickups seem to be the same. All I can say on that matter is if I take my Gretsch to a gig it doesn't sound nearly as good as either my American Standard Strat or Gibson SG Standard both of which are about 6 or 7 years old. I am cautiously debating whether to upgrade the Gretsch with TV Jones pickups.
Looking on Anderton's website the old and new models also differ in that the older G5441T (or G5445T in black) have a maple neck while the new model G5232T has a mahogany neck. Anderton's states that both the new and old models have maple tops. Also interesting is that the new model is £20 cheaper than the old model at Anderton's while in Canada at the Long & McQuade chain the new model is $70 more that the old model.
I never knew The Cult used Gretsch guitars. But then again, having looked up the wiki, it seems that Billy Duffy uses a White Falcoln G7593T. BTW, Bigsby trems are a lot more stable in tuning when matched with roller bridges.
I'm glad someone chimed in with that. Tune-o-matics and Bigbys do NOT go together. Even Gretsch's rounded bar bridge works better even if intonation is compromised. But like you said...roller bridges! And some graphite in the nut slots and you are good to go. (Decades of Gretsch experience speaking here)
These seem like great guitars. Something about the look of Gretcsh's double-cuts just doesn't do it for me though. It might be because of how symmetrical the horns are.
The problem with you guys is you make every guitar sound great! Hopefully my local GC will get some. Actually one brand Anderton's should take a look at out of China is Eastman. I now own two of them and I think they're great guitars.
Sitting here getting chemo watching this and cracking up at the face on the back of Rob’s guitar! I look like I’m insane! Thanks guys!
I wish you alll the best to you brother.
God bless you
Been in the same seat. You have all my best wishes.
Get well my friend.

"I'll do you some clean tones first"
Sure you will Chappers.
Ah, I see Rob has also graduated from the Fluff School of "Clean" Tone
Definitely lives up to the whole 80s classic rock I do believe. You can never go wrong with a Gretcsh indeed! Cheers for this showcase
@P. Taylor You know, there is probably quite some truth to that lol
Fender runs Grestch, but the guitars are done in many other places, factories, and the Grestch company is a company by itself, that belongs to Fender, as Jackson and Squier. They can have better quality in their guitars because the company runs separated from Fender.
Rob: 'I'll do some clean tones first.'
Lee: 'That's not very..'
Rob: 'BBBRGGHHHH'

so... it's 2 years later. Did you buy it?
The Cult tones are amazing balls we need a sounds like Billy Duffy
Been asking for ages!
I love this song so much, you don't even know. Thank you for the nostalgia.
Rob: *does great pull up tremolo lick*
Lee: Oh! I thought you were gonna snap the tremolo arm off there!
Rob: I would have tried for the glory of the Cult.
Cool, I wasn't the only one hearing a bit of Cult in the riff. ;)
Any more subtitles?
Loved to hear you guys jamming The Cult! That’s exactly what I was hoping to hear when I saw ‘Gretsch’ and ‘80s’.
The orange is awesome !!!!! What a great finish ....love it
Hey there Chappers and Captain! Love your videos! Cheers from me down in Melbourne!
Once a year, Rob gets THE tone of the year. This was that time of 2019. WOW. Amazing tones. I really want a Gretsch now!
Just got this for my birthday today. Love it.
Sweet....I just got the baby blue w/gold hardware......beauties indeed
Just bought the gold one and I'm in love
I love the shape of this guitar.
The googly eyes on the back of the guitar gag was GENIUS!
It’s insane how much the Captain’s playing has improved lately. He was always good, but now his playing is on a whole other level.
Man that purple finish is gorgeous
Malcolm young was one of the best rhythm guitarist of all time. Amazing song writer as well.
Great solo Chappers!!!!!

Ackschually She Sells Sanctuary was on the album Love - not Electric.
Yes, and it was a far better album than Electric!
barkinstarfish Both albums are great, for slightly different reasons!
@@barkinstarfish agreed
@@joelcamp5445 agreed
True. But Electric should still be in your catalog, along with Love and Sonic Temple.
I was so impressed with this video that I went out and bought a gold Grech G5232T. Chapman makes this thing absolutely scream.
The Boys are wearing matching Vans, they truly love each other.
Love Gretsch! Always.
I was never a huge fan of Gretsch until I bought my little Electormatic Jet Pro, honestly I'm now a huge fan and that cherry colour, ooofph.
That has incredible sustain. Great review, guys.
I have the red one. It’s my favorite guitar. Plays sounds and looks awesome.
Rob is having a lot of fun with that Bigsby. I guess he loves a Bigsby tailpiece now!
Finally giving the Cult some love! I got tired and gave up asking you guys to do a "sound like" on them.
I actually fell in love with a surf green Junior Jet P90. Love the neck shape and the sound. It replaced my Epiphone LP Standard as main guitar and the red Duo Jet will be my next guitar I think.
Do you mean gretsch g2215 ?
As far as tuning stability there is one solution I have found it's to get rid of the main culprit: the tune-o-matic bridge. Replace it with a Wayne Compton compensated bar bridge. Great video guys and just an awesome showcase for those guitars. Love it
The master volume is great if you want more/less volume on the fly but don't want to mess up your pickup settings for certain songs.
The Captain at the end there was making some absolutely sweet magical tones - awesome sound and great looking guitars indeed!!
Awesome. Thankyou. Such amazing Guitars.
SHE SELLS SANCTUARY
Nice, going to see The Cult in December, this warmed me up nicely! Saw them last year and Billy Duffy was absolutely rocking the White Falcon!
I saw The Cult in the 80’s. They were awesome!
I was watching yesterday Phillip McKnight's sharpen my axe of this gretch guitar , love that and today they are with the same new guitar
Guys your tone was fantastic!
The Cult! This year marks the 30th anniversary of Sonic Temple. Got my box set Friday.
Chappers enjoying himself way too much lol 😂👍
The fire in your eyes, keeps me alive.
Lee... wow. That ending jam... you took it home like you owned it!
cool licks, Chapps
Great to see some love for Billy Duffy and Gretsch. And, I believe Billy played a Les Paul on most of the tracks of Electric.
UA-cam fed me a 5 minute commercial with a B&G Little Sister before the video started, that I watched entirely, so now it doesn’t really matter any more how good that Gretsch may be.
6:26 Jack White famously has a 3 filtertron pickup Gretsch Double Jet with the copper top
As well as a modified Gretsch Anniversary Junior.
first thing i thought of when i saw the golden one
wasn't that guitar basically a replica done by some independent luthier?
Then he should learn to play it sometime.
Steve Marriot alternated between a Double Jet and a Single Cut back in his Small Faces years.
Gretsch is becoming one of my favorite brands. Gretsch and Squier are probably my top favorite brands
Obligatory Lee is good at guitar now comment.
hes aight not bad for a store owner
nice playing lee
Killer rippin Captain!
If you don't have his little jig down it's not Sanctuary! I've been practicing that move for years in my head and I'm ready to bust it out next time I'm on the dance floor.
Got to say, I've been looking at the Jet Clubs recently, but for th extra money, these really look (and sound) great!!
Lovely bit of Cult action! Well done gents!
I bought one of these, brilliant guitar, sounds awesome plays awesome. My only criticism is it has a bit of neck dive when you stand to play. But that's fixable.
how???

Loved that into Sanctuary

It’s a nice change to see someone associate Gretsch with the sounds of Billy Duffy and Malcolm Young rather than rockabilly
jack white too
Guitars sound great, look great and there’s the captain playing some good guitar;let her loose captain anderton, rob of course sounding great like always.....
Don’t forget that Chet Atkins played a Gretsch.
That Tahiti red looks like a neon orange
Guys that was a Bad Ass intro! Hell yah
i love these videos

these guys are more and more critical about the stuff they try to sell! it's kinda funny
I live in Tahiti, and Captain you should remember this flower color. Hibiscus !
Going to,see Brand New Heavies in a few weeks! Still got some groove!
that's the best ive seen lee play. this should be his guitar.
I love the Dark cherry metallic and the Tahiti Red, though I could never pull off the latter.

At 13.22 what happened to Rob's coffe mug??
Captain meets Billy Duffy incoming? ;)
Tahiti Red... the colour of tourists who drunkenly fall asleep on the beach.
I love the cult! Great opening jam
It would be really helpful to have an explanation of the amplifier and effects pedals used, at the beginning of your videos.

could you put locking tuners on it? Would that help with the tuning?
