- Super easy way to save a PDF and lose the security restrictions for editing.
Any web browser should work. Bing, Edge, Internet explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Yahoo… a few people have said this would not work for them. But the feedback from this video has been overwhelming positive, so good luck.

Yeah didn't work for me. I have a physical CD from 2005 that's an owners manual for a MegaCruiser, which is the Japanese version of a Humvee. Problem is, it's in Japanese, obviously. I need a way to be able to copy / paste it into a translator to get it into English so a friend of mine (and his friends that own these) can have access to English translated information to maintain their vehicles. Maybe technically illegal but not in a bad way. The Japanese version is useless to all of us who don't speak Japanese, we just need to be able to translate it so we can actually use the information. Any thoughts on how to do that?

Couldn't be more straight forward presented! It worked with converting one secure pdf to an open pdf. And no annoying background music in the background like with other videos out there.
Dont know if this is different with a secured pdf but this didnt work for me.
The only time it has not worked for me, is when the document has printing restricted.
Not only can you not edit secured PDFs, you can't even insert them or combine them with other PDFs. I need to insert secured forms into my contracts all the time. THANK YOU for this - the most useful hack of all time! This also works with Safari but you have to drag the secured document into the Address Bar.

I had to print to pdf as you instructed to someone in the comments and this is what finally managed to do the job. Thanks for the advice
Holy shit, I was pulling out my hair for hours, trying to upload this file, that forced me to save it with a password. Thanks man this was exactly what I needed, even my hr/accountant had no idea how to even send it to me unsecured.
COPIED FILE from Edge to Chrome Saved and renamed file, Did not work, still not able to edit. did I miss something????
You should press the print option then choose save as PDF , it's work i just tried it .
Is the PDF locked or does it simply not recognize text? I run into PDFs frequently that have been saved down and the text is not recognized at text anymore. More like a compressed digital image.

Yes, it works to a degree. I used your method on a government secured pdf document that was busy with text, graphics, text boxes, and a variety of fonts. It did not convert accurately. I.e., a considerable amount of text wrongly overlaid other sections of the document. This was my experience. The method described likely works best for pdfs whose content and makeup is less complex.
I use PDFs in all sorts of varying degrees of complexity . There are too many ways a pdf can be made and saved. One with text and layers recognizable. Another where it’s all just seen as flat lines. Some are half and half. We import PDF blue prints into autocad all the time and one PDF to the next, you don’t know how the graphics are going to behave. Some are perfect and some import as nothing.

I look at so many site and all want to download something to my como first and then after I think it’s free, it tells me that I have to pay if I want it unlock or convert the pdf.

Didn't work for me. When I clicked on print a window came up and said "Print Preview Failed." Couldn't go any further from that point
Same with me. They are password protected documents with originator "permissions" that prevent printing. I have the password, but not the permission to print. So when you open it in another application like Google drive, it still has the permissions restriction to print.
This will not work on any PDF which requires a password to open it in the first place...

Simple and it works! And no, unlike others who post all their creative ways to bypass the PW to edit a protected PDF, with this process, you don't need to know the PW. Seriously... people waste time posting solutions on how to remove the PW for files in which they have the PW. LOL.

The document in Google Crome is also not printable.(the print is grey)
When a PDF has been locked to prevent printing, this method does not work. Be careful attempting to edit a document the owner did not want duplicated.

Do you know how to do it using FireFox I don't get the same options? Chrome is banned at work for security reasons, so I can't just do it. Thanks.
If I drag a PDF into a Firefox window, I hit the printer icon and I can select ADOBE PDF or Microsoft to PDF.
Why do we have to drop the pdf in Chrome? They have blocked my daughter's email because she has inadvertently stored too much. She can't even access her gmail. Now they want her to pay for storage when she did not want them storing anything. She can't even delete the docs in Google. Suggestions?
You can drag the PDF into any browser to re-print. Chrome is what I prefer. I am also running out of storage, but I don’t know about being locked out. It’s very easy to fill 15 gigs if you backup pictures with Google photos. Just start deleting.

I got a problem. When save the file it becomes a scanned pdf and can not copy. If select a particular lines or para it says copy image. Kindly help to remove this dilemma. thanks
Make sure you’re selecting “Save as PDF” from chrome and not “Microsoft print to PDF”. When I use “Microsoft print to PDF” it’s creates an image file.

Google just captured your entire PDF file.
The way I see it, your using the browser app which is already installed on your machine. You’re not visiting a sketchy site and transmitting information.

That would normally mean the text blocks are inserted as images and not lines of text.
