Charles Raiteri Interview for Channel 13 Eyewitness News
at Sam Phillips Studios in Memphis, Tennessee 1979
Recording the tracks for their first LP "Songs The Lord Taught Us"
Try to imagine try to imagine how little I care.
Brian Gregory 1979
Somehow, the VHS artifacts make it better.
Fuck yes! Keeps that scary vibe moving’ right along….
Miss The Cramps. They were one of the most entertaining bands...ever!
Nick Knox and Bryan Gregory speaking? This is quite a gem.
Thanks!
The best band in the world 🖤🛐
Wow...footage of Nick Knox speaking!!!
Yeah , and Bryan Gregory smiling , too !
Lol Bryan Gregory at 0:50 "Try and imagine... just try and imagine how little I care."
*looks at camera*
I'm 49 and The Cramps are still my favorite band of all time. They were full throttle on stage and made sure that you always had a great time.
i was in a band called the"adults" in the 70s & we opened for the CRAMPS in new jersey. talked to lux about elvis & rock&roll. it was awesome! the CRAMPS are one of my favorite bands of all time! RIP LUX
Wasn't Rick Sullivan in that group too?
This footage is a treasure.
Bryan Gregory and your colar bones taken from cemetery and graveyards...hahahaahhaha
@@jonpagina he was god-like.
Man, this is gold. So very little footage of the Bryan Gregory-era (well, except the incredible Napa State Hospital footage) Cramps. And let's be honest, Bryan Gregory had "it". Too bad he never was able to do something more with it. I don't think they ever filled the void after he left. Still did great music but it slowly but surely became the Lux n Ivy show.
Even Ivy said this was likely the Cramps best era. No arguments here. They had such a raw, grungy vibe. Things got more slick by Date With Elvis.
And man does Lux reminded me of a young Bill Forsythe here. Ha!
Man, I LOVE UA-cam! I could only dream of having access to stuff like this when I was a lad. This footage is gold.
we used to have to use our imaginations when it came to seeing/hearing/knowing about great obscure-ish bands like the cramps.
i almost feel sorry for the kids nowadays who have too much information about the artist - something about visualising how bands must look by the sound of their recordings, or a lo-resolution photo of the band on the record sleeve (if you're lucky)
the mystique of it all was a powerful thing.
any morsel of information was precious, and there's something to be said for bands/artists etc *not* sharing all of most mundane biographical details of their lives on instagram for all their fans.
taking away the mystique takes something away from the romantic sense of danger that rock'n'roll had in days gone by.
having said that, shit like this on youtube is incredible - thanks for uploading.
Exactly. I remember having to mail order boot leg videos back in the 80's and early 90's.
Great demonstration of Alex Chilton's sophisticated production technique at 2:45
Ha! with the cramps you probably all had to do was just hit record!
exquisite
God I love this…..thank you! Saw them in Creem magazine in 1980 and they scared me crooked! Met Bryan at the Whisky in LA back in ‘99 and he was every bit as creepy as he is on here…. a real gem! Persecuted Prophets forever man….long live the Kings of Rock & Roll!!
Alex Chilton ❤️
Legendary ❤
My favourite band. I will treaure this video.
I can't be the only one with a silly grin plasted on my face during the live song segments...especially the end!⚡️👊🏼⚡️
Thw series band of all times
Who knew Bryan could talk? Seriously this is awesome. Thanks for uploading. And Alex Chilton!!!
TO THIS DAY, the only time the word "clits" has been uttered on that station...
The Klitz were an all girl punk rock group from Memphis. Klitz German for gun
I love how the reporter says the words, ' the Klitz ' opening.. this was like the 6 o'clock news lol
Wow these are some characters. Music is great
If somebody could restaure that, the Cramps in their glorious period wahou !
Thank you for posting this. The Cramps were true love in the form of a band. R.I.P. Lux Interior!
RIP Nick Knox , Bryan Gregory , Click Mort , too.
I think the cramps represent the end of rock and roll, there is the line of real rock from before but through elvis and I cannot find that thread after the cramps snips here and there but the thread was broken and this clip exemplifies what rock is or was
What a treat
Please, what other videos can I see where Nick speaks. He is my favorite band member and is so mysterious
Truly Magnificent Find !!
God bless The Cramps 😎🙏😻
I think that GOD DAMN Rock and Roll....and don't save souls...hahahahaha😂😂😂😂😂
@@jonpagina Stay sick! 😎🤘
@@jeffclement2468 For ever 🥁🎵🎶🎼🤣🤣🤣😂😉😉
Excellent! I saw them in '86 but would have loved to have seen the Bryan Gregory (or Kid Congo) era Cramps. The Klitz was Lesa Aldridge's punk band.
I'm from NYC and saw them live ONLY once - Damn.
Awesome video
Awesome! Truly awesome!! Thanks for posting this!!!
New Musical Express is Englands answer to Rolling Stone? Pretty sure it would be the other way around. NME has been around a lot longer. Since the '50's. RS started at the end of the '60's
Fantastic filmage.
Lux was my personal elvis
Treasure
Absolutely the best video on you tube - warms my heart. RIP Lux and LX.
wow
The word on the street is that Poison Ivy still has Alex's Fender Stratocaster. That would really be something to see.
TV doesn't look as good as it used to.
It sure don’t!
Ed Wood meets The Cramps😂
Legands
Thurston Moore talks exactly like Lux
I think poison ivy is the only one in this video who's still alive
What was the horror movie he was saying was the best horror movie ever?
Michael Parrish The Vietnamese Boat People by American International Films
@Pete Testube so, you enjoy a boat full of desperate people, then. Maybe you'd think it great fun to throw some rocks at their boat, give 'em a little scare. Ha ha.
