- This documentary is all about making a long distance trail reality. When Nikola came back from Pacific Crest Trail he wanted to make the same thing in his homeland. He wanted to roam free across Croatia so he gathered enthusiasts and within a year and a half he was ready to thru hike Croatia. He invited Matt Bisenius, his good friend whom he met on PCT to hike with him. Marina asked to join the crew and the big three was formed. They were ready to make a brand new long distance trail.

I absolutely love the documentary. What makes it perfect is what you say in the very end - "F*** it, it's enough.. time to go home". The honesty of the phrase depicts the very feeling that every person that ever hiked experiences after a long and arduous trail. It all ends in both satisfaction and pain. But the rewards are immense, every trail, even a short section, reshapes a hiker and he or she is never the same person again.
Yeah, you described it pretty well. Satisfaction and pain it was.

Amazing documentary! I just heard about this trail today and I am already planning it. I will only be able to do a 7 day trek including travel from and to Zagreb. Anyone with experience, what part of the trail would you recommend?
15:20 I know that feeling all too well, at some point it feels like you can smell water.
Try doing it from Vratnik pass and then go south as far as you can. That's C section.
Beautiful and very tempting trail which is great addition to European hiking. I seriously thinking about it.
Do you consider making trail available in other, more popular in Europe, apps?

Guthook app is perfect for hikers.
@@NHTesla Maybe you right (I don't know because I don't hike in America) but buying expensive app just for one trail adds up to overall cost of hiking CLDT.
@@3WalkingPoles Hey, i am from germany and hiked the pct 2018. Guthooks is totaly worth the money. I already bought the CLDT maps and they look totaly legit.

How much of the total route is a blazed trail and how much is way finding and bushwhacking? It’s gorgeous looking country.
Mostly route is passable. Here and there bushwacking just like on any trail. Farout app provides good platform for navigating.

Nikola, if you could choose one place in Croatia that has the best view, which one would you say?
Vošac, Biokovo mountain is maybe most scenic. Vaganski vrh also good. Risnjak if you like views without traces of civilization.

Sveti Ilija on Peljesac and Sveti Nikola on Hvar, I would recommend (if you haven't been there, although I doubt that).
What would you say in Bosnia is your favorite viewpoint? Have you been at Konj on Kamešnica?
@@antonoroz8814 I went on sv.ilija with my son but weather kicked us out of mountin before summiting. Sve. Nikola never have seen 😀
Regarding Bosnia I would definately recommend Zelena glava on Prenj and knife edge of Visočica. Stunning mountains.
I have never been on konj or kamešnica as far as I remember.
