I'm not sure if you know this, but you're sitting on a gold mine with that tractor. It has a peerless 820 transmission. These transmissions can go for as much as $700 new! And they are extremely heavy duty
@@kylejacques2587 for easy identification on an 820, you should have one inch diameter output axles. All others are usually 3/4 inch. Another way to tell is by inspecting the identification tag on the front or rear of the case
I think both mowers need custom gas pedals as well. And if you ever want to unseize an engine spray PB blaster in the spark plug holes and then turn the flywheel nut with a breaker bar. This method has worked great for me. I think I remember the Troy bilt was a 17 hp too. Great video!!
been watching you for a while, finally had the drive to pull out my craftsman YT3000 over the summer and get it running. mice ate the ignition wiring, cleaned that up put a 5 inch pulley on the trans and some nice 19 inch sunF mud tires on the back (14mph top speed with gas pedal). makes a nice trail cruiser. AND i can still mow with it

I have a 1993 Murray 46209 that looks a whole lot like Major Murray, same square hood and same color. Has a Tecumseh engine and a Peerless 930-033 transmission. I need to pull the deck lift control and the blade engagement control levers off as I no longer run the mower deck

I've got a 17.5 horse john deere d105 with the variable pulley transaxle runs as fast as my zero turn stock and I'm just curious if I pulley swap from the 3 or 4 inch it has on the motor to an 7 or 8 in just how fast it could run
I've tried an 8 inch and a 6 inch on a vari- drive before. The 6 inch did amazing and topped out at 13 mph, but the 8 inch was too much for the variable pulley and it would destroy belts in the first run in high gear. If you want to pulley swap it, go for a 6 inch.

@@dakotahicks6725 if you still wanted to use the vari-drive, the best pulley swap would be too change the rear pulley since it wouldn't over speed the variable pulley. You would have to cut the center hub out and weeks it to a smaller pulley to do this because the FNR transaxles have a splined input shaft. It you could take the route I did and find an old Craftsman frame and transmission and swap the body and transmission from your current mower onto the new frame. Then, pulley swapping is much easier.

Ive got an alco concord ride on which i want to pulley swap, but i cannot because of this locking mechanisim for the mower deck which has been taken off.
This mower actually came with these wheels, bigger one are kinda hard to find. I usually use rear 8 inch wheels to replace the smaller 6 inch ones, but other than that you could search marketplace often. Good luck and thanks for watching.

I run one in my lifted mower and I have no complaints. They will outlive anything else in the machines they were put in!

Most of the mtd mowers were entry level , by the time you up grade engine , transaxle and frame you would should start with a better base

If you want that motor to idle low pull the idle spring off but not the governor spring .pulling that spring off makes them idle like a Harley
