Excellent video my friend ! Just a tip I've learned from doing this same job often on my 2000 EX 400, if you remove the sparkplug, it makes it easier to rotate the engine to get the valves where you want them. Just don't forget to re-install it when you finish ! Thanks for the great video ! BBgun, Spokane Wa.
Hey man great video! Im glad you're sharing your knowledge with us all. And I like that the video is straight to the point and easy to understand, you're gonna go far in the world !
Goodness buddy. It’s awesome you’re doing your own maintenance and learning. But you need to just remove the inspection cover. Rotate the engine to top dead center. EXACTLY TDC. Then adjust all 4 of them together and at the same time. And it was a good choice since you couldn’t hit the exact spec you adjust on the side of a tad looser than a tad tighter. Little looser is way better than a tad tighter Cool samurai in the back ground. Is that yours also? I always wanted one of those. Buddy of mine had one when I was a teenager. We had a lot of fun in that thing.
I don't know if there is something wrong with my 400ex but I have to adjust just past TDC for me to get all the slack out otherwise it will tick severely. The samurai is nice but the engine in this one is just doggy. I am wanting to swap it out with a I4 isuzu diesel from a Chevy Luv.
@@jadinseiler8861 the one I was telling you about my buddy’s dad had put a small block Chevy in. It was a beast. They are pretty under powered stock. On that quad you may wanna just one day pull the rocker box. Get the crank at top dead center and make sure your can crank marks are lined up. They prob have it rotated wrong. But guess if that works. It works. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 keep wrenching.
This should in theory work with the 2006. To my knowledge one of the key differences between 2004 and 2005 (and newer) is they added reverse. There may be other differences like if you had a hot cam or different valves installed, the clearance may differ.
@izmashing5993, the compression stroke is when the piston is going up to TDC (top dead center) and the intake valves will open right before, then all valves will be closed as the piston rises in the cylinder. Use a blunt pencil or a small dowel to help you find TDC.
@@jadinseiler8861 ya i just dont get it..i found the t mark in the little whole..i noticed none of the valvrs wiggle .do i rotate it again till they all wiggle?
@izmashing5993 check the tolerance of the valve to the rocker arm and see if it within spec. On my 400ex I had to go until they were loose but the manual calls for at the timing mark

I will get some more up soon!

Got a stage 3 hot cam and when I put it on one of my valves were staying open I'm gonna try this thank you
I have the same set up how did it go? Not starting after a rebuild rode for 10 mins.
@@CrazyClips1001 turns out the cam sprocket was backwards
I thought you set the valves with the engine at top dead center?
It's how you can do it but this four-wheeler was owned by others and I don't know what they have done to it but it isn't like my other one.
@@jadinseiler8861 I’ve got an 01 with a stage two cam, and tried to set the lash. Things wayy out
You not even at top dead center homie
Excellent
So you have a 400ex and a Samurai?? Welcome to the club!!
The samurai is so fun
@@jadinseiler8861 Yeah they kickass!!
Thankyou!!
Would this work for a 2008 Trx400ex?
Don't try it. Go on top dead center
Awesome 👌
What size are the value cover caps?
24 mm I believe
Will this work on 2006 400?
