I was watching a Nodrog Rail Round-up and was watching a update from Blackpool Simon (who announced your train was delayed in the video LOL!) But the 'West Coast Kitchen' is being planned to come to the East Coast Main Line and think it's around December time it's happening. Great video G!
I’m watching this video on the exact service you were on! end to end as well enjoying it too! Made all the better by some west coast kitchen and GLovesTrains!
Here's me thinking your food service tip would be to take your own metal cutlery. Seriously isn't metal cutlery which can be washed and reused more environmentally friendly. Plus it can be melted down when it reaches it end of life and be used for something else. Instead of 1 use wooden cutlery which doesn't work!
A short but ever so sweet Long train Journey Nice Views at one point the view looked like Teletubby land, so peaceful , and Very First Class for a First class G, many thanks , hope your day was a good one ,and take Care G
I quite like the TransPennine Express Class 397 Civity Nova 2. They are such beautiful trains that CAF have built. I also do like the Nova 1 Class 802 and Class 185 Desiro DMU.
Great video, G! I really enjoyed this little ride! They're really pretty trains both on the outside and the inside! Although the window alignment could've been better in First Class whilst mostly aligned in Standard. I've been on this route before as I've come down from Glasgow before down to the Wigan North Western in the past but that was with Avanti West Coast.
Really nice video and you passed your favourite station- Preston Always interesting to see trains in UK and comparing to Scandinavian trains Were there many people stepping of at Oxhame and Penrith for Lake District?
brilliant journey i do like the 397s they are really nice as ive ridden some on some short hop journeys around the North last year & in 2021 & first class looks amazing brillliant vlog as always
Thanks for the video G,beautiful trains 🚆 shame about the rattle though. Interesting food indeed sure was a spicy sausage. Great scenery love the lake district!!😎🚆🚆🚆🚆🇬🇧💚
I’ve been on TransPennine Express few times but haven’t been on the Class 397 Civity that replaced the Class 350/4 Desiro. The Class 397 Nova 2 are so nice, modern and very stylish.
Brilliant. I use TPE from Glasgow to Lockerbie regularly as it's far quicker than going to Dumfries. Not as scenic of course, but an hour and a 20 min bus to Dumfries. Loving your content now. Only just found you. Glad I did. You're a star.
I like your video when you are on a “castle set” HST from Penzance to Plymouth, I am a massive fan of the hst. They are the best 40 year old trains ever. 👍😀
I have a TPE cup as a memento of a train I took from Liverpool to Doncaster and return, which I did did travel passed Chinley North Junction. I had a lovely chat with the trolley person. I liked TPE.
Awesome vlog G those 397 are a very nice train I was surprised how empty it looked normally they are packed. That food definitely didn't look very appetising glad to see you enjoying your trip to Glasgow ❤ looking forward to seeing where the train takes you next safe travels wherever you end up going.

I've done this journey many times . I've only ever done first class once many years ago and a couple of times on a weekend upgrade. The weekend food was a cold snack box and they couldn't do hot drinks either on that occasion. Glad you enjoyed your trip 😊
Great video that! Good value for money as well! Would have thought you would get a seatfrog upgrade with the fact it was a £31 difference lol Im yet to try it again lol have not done 1st on a 397 since september last year!
Hi GLoves, that's a nice looking electric blue engine. Hahaha 😂 they tell you the number of calories instead of the price of the food...?!?! 😮😃😅 Anyway,it was a nice scenery, so good sunny day for a train ride, nice station also at Glasgow 👌b bye.
@@GLovesTrains Oh woow, the goodies of First 🥇 Class, of course!! Yes, for that price you can't expect less. Taking care of your calories is included also! Cool... 😉😃😄👍
Good video G the Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central is the longest train journey taking over three hours and 35 minutes by train you can do it with avanti west coast from London Euston to Glasgow Central
Hi, there is a Saturday only 1903 Edinburgh - Liverpool via York which is probably slightly longer. Doubt if 1st class catering would be available that late though. Journey takes pretty much exactly 5 hours. Great video though!
I'd have thought Manchester Airport to Edinburgh via Carlisle would be a tad longer than the equivalent Glasgow one but Rail Mileage suggests one mile less for the Edinburgh. If any go directly to Edinburgh via Leeds and Newcastle that would probably be longer due to the way the coast curves west at Dunbar.
I do love a solo seat if I can get one - at least there's none of that awkwardness if someone sits next to you! (Or is that just me - am I just being anti-social? 🤣) I do love how well-edited your videos are.
Travelling 1st on the class 397, from Piccadilly to Glasgow back on 29 Feb 2020, was certainly one of my most pleasant journeys I have ever made. Cost me the reasonable price of about £30, about the same in standard class back from Edinburgh a week later on a 350 before they left the TPE fleet
The interior of the 397 looks a lot nicer than the 80x trains. I know the IETs are often criticized for being way too bright and bland inside. The 397 looks stylish and modern, you'd hardly know it's from the same family as the often hated 197s.
Something I’ve always wondered about TPE, how do they manage stopping at Bolton but not letting anyone off ? I fully understand the reasons why, as it’s a long distance service and they don’t want it full of commuters, but do they actually stop people getting off ?
The 397s have some of the worst ride quality of any train I've ever been on! Especially on the section near Oxenholme and Penrith; however great video and interesting to see your views on it!
I sort of did it for £2 (and omitted the Manchester Airport->Piccadilly bit). I live in the middle of the route (Penrith) so used 6 of those £1 tickets to have 2 day trips to Manchester, and one day trip to Glasgow.
Hey G!! I’m a long time fan and looking at making a train/transport channel too, you and Geoff have both really inspired me!! Was just wondering if you have any advice on editing or on what cameras to use? Or can I get away with using a phone at first 🤭 Thank you ❤
great video G! also, i think the long journeys have changed on TPE with TPE doing a route from Edinburgh to Liverpool Lime Street via Newcastle, York, Leeds and Mctr Vic taking above that time but it is on specific days (generally on a weekday) using an 802 (Nova 1) but this also depends on the time of filming too
@@GLovesTrains it sorta if you get lucky too cuz today it says Edinburgh to York but it sometimes alternates to Edinburgh to Liverpool Lime Street, its confusing also be aware its one of the last TPE ECML bound departures lol
Well that was an interesting presented meal 😅 atleast it wasn't a salad right 🥗 that's surely not an affective way to serve the food is it I mean someone could possibly miss it if there journey was short and 1st class was busy.
