My oldest daughter graduated HS in 2020. We rented this camper for her (best we could do for a senior trip w/covid etc.) Six of them stayed in it. They loved it. I was worried about not getting my deposit back, but six teenagers didn't destroy it. Maybe that should be a new PDI standard for manufacturers. 🙂 Thanks Nerd!
Having owned an RV with slidouts, I had more issues with them than anything else. I love the fact that this allows so much interior change. I would love to see a pocket wall for the front bedroom though vs the curtains, and I would also remove the bunks. Or at least the bottom bunk. This would be great to take around year round and work while you live your best life! With kids however, it becomes a great vacation camper.
I love the fact that this entry level family bunkhouse doesn’t have a dinette only floor plan👍The nice sofa, TV, shower surround, oven, attached ladder and solar are also nice additions that should all be standard✅ just wish there wasn’t a plastic toilet and Dollar Store 4” fart fan😢
This is the video we've been waiting for. Wife and I bought this unit at the Tampa RV show and take delivery on March 7th. We can't wait to get out with the family. First time RV buyer and the confirmation received from this video is very reassuring that we chose the correct one.
@@JoshtheRVNerd love our 21 224bh! We have been on close to 20 trips and 6k miles in about a year and a half. Starting this season up beginning of March can’t wait.
This is such a great camper and not just for first timers. I think in this age of ever more complex and expensive camper with crazy cost cutting measures in construction some of us really value the simplicity and flexibility of this classic. We picked up a ‘22 model last fall and if it’s any value to other folks viewing here was our rationale… We are a family of 5 with 3 kiddos, this is our 3rd new travel trailer, just got rid of our Freedom Express 287BHS and went with one of these. Simplicity, not having a slide, not having the outside kitchen means quite a bit less stuff to go wrong long term. We also found it hears really well compared to our last aluminum framed azdel campers, even with just the heat ducting coming out from under the couch in this. The ability to fully use it in road mode and making overnights in parking lots in trips without having to bump out s slide is huge. The fact they went to the farmhouse decor last year was a big one too… I had never cared for the brown interiors of Jaycos prior and the farmhouse makes it feel so bright and cheery inside. Towing, the way these sit lower with the integrated a frame and that curb weight means these things the line they almost aren’t there with our half ton Silverado. The difference between this and our 287BHS was night and day, granted it was a big bigger and longer but my point is these things tow really nice and because of that it’s s much more relaxing experience. To us it’s the sweet spot in size where being under 30’ you can get into NP campgrounds and smaller campsites but not so small that you have to compromise living space and not have a dedicated couch. 5 of us can live in this thing for extended periods of time and not feel like we are losing our minds. Storage…. We are avid mountain bikers, skiers, paddlers, and hikers… this camper without the fridge option in the back gives you huge storage. That comes in really handy for stowing all of our bins for various gear. We have a nice stove and camp table setup that we had with our 4x4 E350 Sportsmobile for our crazier off grid adventures and all that stuff works great for our outside camp kitchen. I thought the camp queen would be an issue but being 6’ and putting a memory foam topper on the mattress it’s been perfectly fine. The lack of cabinets above the bed was solved by using little bins for clothes. I wish it had the medicine cabinet over the sink, an opening window in the kitchen and an opening window for the top bunk, especially the top bunk. I don’t understand why that isn’t a thing as off grid, that’s the hottest place… Other wishes, going from porcelain toilettes to a plastic one is s huge downgrade, I would have happily paid extra for that upgrade. But overall the thing is, you can spend a STuPID amount if money on some of these new travel trailers and from my experience, none of them other than Airstream and probably the newer high end overland focused ones seem to have great build quality. The use of hood plywood and materials in this Jayco and maybe a slightly better build quality than average gives me some piece of mind and since it is stick and tim, it’s a hell of a lot easier to fix things are modify it. In the end though, if you want to put a ton of miles on something and not just have the blingiest thing parked in a campground this is a real road warrior. I don’t feel bad if it gets a little beat up, I have to deal with a lot fewer items that can break or need to be fixed in the next 10 years. Just load up the fam and gear and get after it. 😆
I like the camper overall. One of the best "budget" no slide camper on the market in my opinion. Pocket screwed cabinetry, doored dinette access, large good weighted bunks, and enclosed underbelly. I believe they might have even increased the cargo capacity this year. I believe it was just under a thousand pounds in previous years. Appreciate the info on the app. It is always nice to know if the couch is 5', 5 1/2', or 6'+ long to determine if it is an adult size sleeping option. The same goes for the dinette. It is often hard to tell in videos or pictures the size of furniture. That's why I always appreciate it when Josh at least includes accurate bed sizes. I think it sucks that Jayco offers larger fresh water capacity based on geographical location...like saying, anywhere else in the U.S, does not matter and/or does not do boondocking. They do offer it to the rest of the U'S. but it costs extra $$ (shipping/transportation).. I agree with Josh, one of the biggest flaws or hiccups from Jayco is them offering essentially different "levels" on the same models based on geographical location. I personally miss the cabinets that Jayco deleted along the wall next to the sofa to save a few bucks. There is never enough storage when camping. Also no opening window for the top bunk means that it could feel like an oven for sleeping up there. Would like to see better "standard" solar options as well. In regards to Josh's questions...Being fully ducted for A/C but not heat ducted I think the 1/2 wall for the bedroom is the only option. Windows=personal preference is mirrored. I think a medicine cabinet should be standard. And, unless Jayco goes to a dual axle frame I think fiberglass skin would reduce the cargo capacity too much and increase the $$ on a "budget" camper that Jayco has already stripped things that many would consider should be standard on campers. Perhaps Jayco should think of making some "no slide campers" in some of their more $$$ models to give more options to consumers.
We have a Jayco no slide and love it. Has everything we need and is a roof over our heads without worrying about slide issues. You are right on with all your points.
19:46 I tell you what Josh you could make this the perfect couples camper by removing the bunks and enlarging the bathroom so you would have room to get dressed before you go out
To answer your question- yea to medicine cabinet. I like the half wall but wish they would put some storage on top. I also saw an older model that was a single over double bunk with a cabinet for kids clothes- loved it. Wish they could find some more areas for cabinets in here but still keep its hitch weight (which I love) . I plan on buying one of these and adding storage in.
When I was younger we.had a hornet camper with a simmalar floor plan and it was perfect for me, my sister and parents. Now its mostly me and my father camping and this model is perfect for us as there aren't many affordable options that have 2 separate sleeping areas big enough for 2 adults. Easy to tow and plenty of room on a budget
Thanks for the tip on the Jayco Sales Toolkit. I have the highland ridge version of this trailer made at the Jayco plant in Idaho and love it. Almost identical to this one except the front bedroom has a private wall with pocket door.
We bought a 2019 Jayflight 26BH last summer, and it looks like the same floorplan. The 40% wall is a nice feature, we have enough privacy and it keeps things open and airy. Ours came with the mini fridge outside it's a nice feature. We love this camper. Pulls very easily with my 2019 RAM 1500 with tow package, and an equalizer hitch. I'm not going to say the truck doesn't know it's there, but it handles well.
Hi there Josh I like the layout and would love to own it. As for the haircut it makes U look a little younger. Thanks again Uncle Josh be safe be good and happy camping.
We’re upgrading and I just sold my 2017 264BHW. We bought it new and camped in it for 7 seasons. It was a great camper. Would definitely recommend it for a starter camper. Or if you just want something lighter and simpler. Though I would recommend comparing this to the new Jay Flight 274BH. Similar size and no slide. But I feel like that new floor plan is better in my opinion.
I just acquired and moved into a 20 year old Road Ranger by Kit the floor plan of this Jayco is almost identical to my Road Ranger. Pretty much a very standard floor plan used by virtually all manufacturers over the years. Mine has a full size queen but no bunks.
Josh it’s a good thing it wasn’t windy outside. Your wig would have blown off! Lol! You are so funny. Glad we have you around. This is a nice starter if that’s the right word for a camper for a family. I like it. It sleeps a lot. I like either or wall or curtain. Not fussy. Thank you Josh for showing this Rv. Have a great night and see you soon!
Either full privacy wall or wide open. Studded walls equals coat hanging ability. Storage under the bed, dinette benches, etc is nice. McDonald's in Three Rivers, 131 and 12, cop shop on the corner, is our stop.
Thankfully, this is one of the very most popular layouts for one of the very most popular brands so there’s almost always going to be something available in the used market for you
This is essentially the same floor plan as our 2005 Jay Feather 27P we just replaced. Great floor plan without slide. The half wall into the master is good because it opens it up and would feel cramped without it.
Any storage at floor level absolutely needs to be a pullout drawer for ease of use and efficiency of using all the space. Plastic bins wont be a perfect fit and that's lost space around it. Pass that along for me Joshy.❤
Agree, this is a good starter rv and one we are very comfortable with as new rv'ers. Not sure about the fiberglass walls for noise level but my preference is always wood. Looking forward to the higher/lower ends of Jayco rv's you have.
Hey Josh, didn't get to stop by in Novi, it was a packed house Saturday. Hope all went well. I would love to see a small series showing you/and/or your service department doing some common upgrades and the difficulty level. IE installing a max Air fan where no fan currently exists, adding solar panels, adding a window to an entry door, setting up weight distribution hitches etc.
Had this floor plan with Salem Cruise, as our first camper. Worked great for my family until my son got too big and we traded up for a bunkhouse with a slide for more room. A full wall with door would have been better than the curtain.
This is the same floorplan that I slept in for my first towable experience. It holds a special place in my heart. I would love to have one of these, but our family is much smaller than would use all the sleeping space. Great review brother ! #nerdherd
I think the outside refer option would be better if it had a 12v plug. By adding a pull out tray, it would be a better use of space. It would be annoying to try to reach around the back of the fridge to get stuff from back there.
@@JoshtheRVNerd And they could do a temporary wall that slides and locks in position so that if someone wants the full privacy wall or if they decide they want to take it out later, they can do that too.
I like this model and Springdale by keystone makes the exact same model but the only downside is this is a single furnace vent basic heated camper would love it if they ran some sort of ducting for a 29ft camper
Jayco no longer makes this living/bedroom layout without bunks. Here's their closest fit currently: ua-cam.com/video/UlTdkf2_STo/v-deo.html However grey wolf does still make this layout without bunks. See here: ua-cam.com/video/XHn65puywgE/v-deo.html
10:58 yes, we are the same way. Plan on leaving at 8 AM sharp and get out the door at 9:15 AM sharp and then unfortunately have to stop at a drive-through for a breakfast sandwich. 😢
This is a nice unit… I think the outside camp kitchen is a little over rated. And this fridge cubby is a good idea. Almost every campsite has a picnic table …. And a small camp stove can be plopped right there on the end of that table…. And the camp stove takes up a lot less storage space.
I would like the cupboard to extend over the window on the kitchen side.......I would love the fridge outside I'm handicap hard to get in n out of camper.
Instead of a fiberglass skin option, I have a question. Is there a reason they use the smooth skin on the nose, but the sides are corrugated? Is there any reason they couldn't do a smooth side? As for windows, totally prefer the tinted like this. Mirrored can get distracting/annoying for those on the outside, both in the campground and en route. Love the hat! LOL t's sooo close to your hair color, it almost looks like your natural hair.
Great questions Bryan! Something that's not obvious is the thickness of those metals. The nose is smooth because it's 67% thicker than the sidewall aluminum. The crimp on the sidewalls is part of what gives the skin strength to hold shape. Making the entire skin smooth requires all thicker metal. It would weigh a bunch and cost a lot more. It's actually been tried years past by some brands and was not met with success.
Hey Josh, im still watching your videos since i started researching campers 5+ years ago - your still putting out great stuff. I purchased a 2017 Jayco 264BHW back in 2019 from Haylett's (because of you), I've had zero problems with it and my family loves it. I was cleaning the roof last week and noticed a soft spot in the rood near the rear of the A/C. Is there any benefit to me trucking my camper up to Bish's (3hrs) to get your team to look at it or do you recommend that i just take it to a place closer to me? Thanks for all you do!
Wow - ty so much! :) Sounds like perhaps the seal gasket around the A/C unit isn't working properly. DEFINTELY get that checked out ASAP Whoever can get you in first. I'd love it if we could take care of you but that's not something you want to let wait around
Another great review. I put money on the Baja edition of this today because we boondock a lot. Now I’m wondering if that extra ground clearance and height will be a big negative for highway cruising. Anyone have experience with the Baja?
I don’t personally but I see them being super popular out west Congrats!! If my videos were helpful, would you mind dropping me a review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review by chance?
Josh! Amazing video video once again! Each time one of these pop up, my internal struggle of Grand Design Transcend 247BH vs Jayco 264BH continues! I really like both these campers A really like each in their own right. I can't decide which is my favorite 🤣
Josh! I have to ask, which do you think has better quality construction between the Jayco 264BH and the Grand Design 247BH? You always mention the pocket screwed cabinetry, the plywood decking, and the roof structure on the Jaycos ... I noticed the Grand Design uses OSB and I don't know if that should make me nervous of not. Thanks in advance!
@@Maxible They're using an OSB floor, but not 4x8ft sheets. It's 8ft wide x 24ft long called dynaspan. It actually has more load bearing capacity even vs plywood You're looking at two brands there that are very well matched basically
Very nice. We had a 2007 Mallard 28BHS with a very similar layout - differences being east-west queen in the front, storage above the sofa with wider privacy wall (always wished it had a solid door), smaller top bunk with a ward, and a couple of other minor things. It was great when we were still pulling it around with the kids. Tinted windows for me and I have no problem with stick and tin.
Check out Starcraft AR 26BH if u like this. Pretty much same camper, made by Jayco as well, with more cabinet storage. And a fully private master bedroom! That’s what we went with, and a little cheaper, I believe.
Starcraft/Highland is owned by Jayco but they are built in their own facilities. I totally acknowledge that's splitting hairs but someone might be curious to learn about it
You need to work on that comb over. 😀 The 3D walk-throughs on the Jayco website also have a measurement mode where you click on the two points you want to measure and it tells you what it is. Any manufacturer who uses Matterport for their walk-throughs should have the same function available. I would prefer a full wall behind the couch but this is ok as a compromise. I prefer tinted and would look for something else if the trailer had one of the other two.
Hey Josh! Thank you for all these videos, my wife and I love them. We have been looking around and one particular layout we love is something like the Imagine XLS 21BHE, but with a bump out. Is there anything like this on the Market or possibly coming down the road?
That 21BHE is a pretty industry standard floorplan that's been around for a long, long time. Passport actually made that one popular now that I think about it! For a layout like that with a slide try something like this: ua-cam.com/video/Mf4o5gm1gck/v-deo.html
Thank you! We’ve seen this Jayco before and we thought it would be cool if it had a Murphy bed/couch instead of a separate room. We like how The Murphy Bed/couch minimizes the length/weight of the RV and it opens the living area up so you have multiple areas to sit and watch a movie or just relax
Great set up. Since Jayco you are allowed to live in it, correct? Would the AC/Heat be enough for the size to live in it? How does this build compare to the Grand Design Transcend Xplor 24BHX
No RV warranties are for "living in." None. "Full time RVing" doesnt mean "Full time living." I know some people do. But that isn't what they're made for Most folks will tell you otherwise in hopes of taking your money. I want you to know what's real so you can make an educated decision Transcend will be extremely parallel
You never specified if this was an all season camper or not. Most UA-camrs forget to tell that important detail. Especially for folks buying in northern states.
Heya! Thanks for watching! :) I fear the vehicle is the limiting factor here. You have either a 3,000lb or 3,500lb tow rating. Either way that doesn't typically offer enough capacity for a family of six outside of popup campers. There are a LOT of people that will tell you "oh this camper only weighs 2,873lbs so you're good!" But that's grossly incorrect. When you're shopping don't look at the "empty weight" of the RV but the max weight or "GVWR." That will be the maximum weight of the RV + all possible cargo. That will ensure you stay safe. And when you do that you'll find pretty much no safe options in fully enclosed/hard sided campers. I wish the answer was different but I don't want you and your family to be unsafe based on bad input.
I like having the sofa and it is NOT a Murphy bed. A full time bedroom is nice. I can live with the curtain. And it has an oven. I do like to bake. Definitely a nice camper.
Obviously we carry both so it's no worries for us but I would mention "Forest River" is just sort of like a banner over the top of a ton of unrelated companies. Rockwood, Cedar Creek, Cherokee, Wildwood, Surveyor.. and so many more. They're all "Forest River" products but they have *nothing* to do with one another. BUT.. I always recommend someone purchase according to their peace of mind
I actually prefer our Shasta 26BH, with a private front bedroom...also has a muuuuch larger campside window by dinette! They are great, but don't get the press that Jayco does...
I actually think those Shastas have gotten a lot better. They're not flashy but... they're _Smart_ For a casual camper like me they're an amazing option
Hi Josh question for solar.. can solar panels be made to remove and taken with you when you upgrade to another trailer ( roof mounted ) thanks in advance
Keep the wall for tv mount. The curtains could be sexy with the right material. And easy to clean! I prefer curtains in showers too for easy cleaning. But the sofa crammed tight in the corner is too awkward for me.
@@COMMANDER-ONE we haven't really done any state park like camping yet. I have a seasonal site at Jellystone and have mostly hit the same couple campgrounds where I already have family or friends or places I went as a kid (Presque Isle, Chautauqua Lake). Heading out to Hershey, PA on spring break just to break the cabin fever.
Thanks for the great review, Josh! I first saw this as a 2022 model and I’m pretty set on committing to getting this model as my first RV to live in full-time. What do you think about removing the couch and rigging up a standing desk there so I can have a mini-office area instead?
I'm torn between the 2022 and 2023 version of the 264BH. I could save 4k with the '22, but the '23 has some nice really upgrades. The '23 is at one of your stores in Texas. My plan is to installerate a sound deadening curtain to give me (some) peace and quiet at night, but still have the nice and roomy open feeling during the day. Propanus 🤣
Is that fake hair? Kidding! Great video, as always, Josh. And thanks for the awesome tip on Jayco Sales Toolkit. Wish I lived closer to purchase from you! I just got a 2023 264BHW to replace our Keystone Passport 239ML. Basically the same thing as we had but without the murphy bed effort and more fresh water. Love the floorplan but had some harsh words for Jayco’s QA department, including not even attempting to plug errant holes drilled into the sidewall when they mounted the running light / side cam receiver. I do wish that Jayco would mount the ladder in a different location that doesn’t conflict with a bumper-mounted grill mount. Passing along a couple tips/tricks I’ve come up with on my unit for others to consider: 1. I personally prefer a blank slate for the outdoor kitchen and will be building a griddle slide out drawer similar to ua-cam.com/video/dFLJnn2cKAc/v-deo.html for mine and love all the storage space that remains instead of wasted space for things I will never use like an AC only powered fridge. You can also remove the outdoor TV mount and use the 2x6 backer installed for it to mount a grill rail instead. Hot and cold water lines are super easy to tap into near the water heater if needed. 2. Jayco has a window that opens with screen for the 26BH that is a perfect fit on top bunk of 264. Kipper part V00035902. Easy swap. You can also order the old cabinets that used to extend past the kitchen sink and over the couch (part # 14121633). 3. Queen bed base is super easy to extend to 80” (just cut some longer plywood and swap) and I’ve never met anyone who regrets replacing their stock RV mattress with something more comfortable. 4. The 264BH western edition carries the fresh water much closer to the trailer axles than many other trailers, which lessens hitch weight for us 1/2 ton truck owners who don’t want to overload on payload weight. This was a deciding factor for me and I appreciate Jayco support sending me the build specs to discover this. I think that more manufacturers and dealers should highlight weight placement benefits like this to facilitate safer towing. It’s scary how many people are totally overloaded going down the highway at 75MPH or faster.
@Josh, our first stay in ANY RV was a rental very much like this one (bedroom was private). As a family of 5 (older kids 18, 15, 10) it was a little tight for us. As a suggestion for future video can you do a top 5 picks for family bunkhouse models a large V8 SUV could pull safely? I personally have a 2018 Suburban with max tow package and i struggle finding an RV that fits 5 that's not too long and too hitch heavy. Side Note: When talking with industry people I have seen a lot of people who would love to NOT have a dinette. Just give us a long couch that pulls out/jackknifes. More seats for more people! Love your videos!
Still like my grey wolf 26DJSE better. It has more cabinet storage inside on the kitchen wall (extending to the back of the couch) and more functional (full length) cabinet doors above the dinette. I dislike Jayco's sink outside the bathroom layout, lack of medicine cabinet and prefer the no partial privacy wall behind the couch. No partial wall helps the camper feel less claustrophobic when a family of 4 is stuck inside. Also the grey wolf sacrifices walking space around the camp queen for extra space in front of the couch which is a very appreciated functional decision. Forest River's all glass doors constantly get me compliments, no functional advantage but real gains in bragging rights. The Jayco advantages like Goodyear tires, factory TV option, etc. are all things that can be reasonably addressed after the purchase, cabinets however are something owners are not likely to change.
Josh, love the new hairdo. 😊is there a way to protect the batteries since they're on the outside of the rig. also, are there accessories that can protect the fresh water inlets. it makes me very uncomfortable that they're exposed to bad actors. also, can you remove the top bunk?
You could get something like a battery box. If you changed to lithiums, then you could install the batteries in the pass-thru (also requires moving the wiring)
Did you see that 2024 Jayco now has this same floor plan in as both a 260bh in the SLX series and as a 264bh in the regular series. Would be interesting to see the differences.
Hey Josh, Was searching your vids for a certain TT that the wife and I are looking at, but don't think you've had a chance to review it or did I over look it. The Forest River Vibe 28RL-L if possible, could you add that one to your list for upcoming reviews? Thanks as always Sir! Ken from the Quad Cities!!
Yeah haven't been able to get to one of those quite yet. last couple of Vibes i did record were quite popular and I'm definitely willing to capture a few more
In towable RVs no one can ever guarantee that so it can never be recommended because no supplier nor RV mfg actually tests for using a slide when retracted. Motorhomes are built differently and typically can be used with slides closed because they're intended to be occupied in transit.
I have a 2019 Jay Flight and I have not been able to complete a single camping trip without something serious breaking. Leaf Springs, power distribution unit, refrigerator door falling off and circuit breaker box coming appart.
It's the bunk wall (above the dinette seat)the tv is mounted on now in this video . I was just wondering if that mount could be moved down the wall so a larger TV could fit
@@butchhannah3508 no, I understand that. What I’m saying is the factory only build them one way. So I don’t know what structures in the wall where the TV mount is not located. We can’t request it be moved.

Love this floor plan. Only reason we bought a 224bh over the 264 was the outside kitchen . That was a must have for us.
How'd it treated you?
Good stuff here! TY! :)
I think if they standardized 60gal fresh nationally and homogenized the brand, then everyone would be happy
Just my two cents.
We have a Jayco no slide and love it. Has everything we need and is a roof over our heads without worrying about slide issues. You are right on with all your points.
19:46 I tell you what Josh you could make this the perfect couples camper by removing the bunks and enlarging the bathroom so you would have room to get dressed before you go out
Dream used to do that but Chinook retired their travel trailer production
To answer your question- yea to medicine cabinet. I like the half wall but wish they would put some storage on top. I also saw an older model that was a single over double bunk with a cabinet for kids clothes- loved it. Wish they could find some more areas for cabinets in here but still keep its hitch weight (which I love) . I plan on buying one of these and adding storage in.
Awesome ty
I’d maybe prefer a pocket door but the curtain being open does help it feel more open inside
We have this same exact camper but a 2005, it has served us well! Love Jayco!
It sounds crazy to think that's 17 years old and going strong
I own a 2016 264bhs and it is rock solid. Been from Maine to the Keys. Best camper for the money. Tinted windows are my preference.
It's such a good model pound for pound
We just bought ours yesterday and pick it up on Friday. First time owning a travel trailer, coming from a 2003 Jayco Jayflight pop-up
Ooh congrats!!
😅 love the hair!
;)
When I was younger we.had a hornet camper with a simmalar floor plan and it was perfect for me, my sister and parents. Now its mostly me and my father camping and this model is perfect for us as there aren't many affordable options that have 2 separate sleeping areas big enough for 2 adults. Easy to tow and plenty of room on a budget
If you’re ever curious, hornet became hide out eventually. So they’re still kind of out there just under a different name.
I absolutely love this model. I would not change a thing
TY!
Yeah the 26BH was the same layout at a higher trim package basically
With the windows I prefer clear with indoor quality window coverings that are easy to move up and down
Hi there Josh I like the layout and would love to own it. As for the haircut it makes U look a little younger. Thanks again Uncle Josh be safe be good and happy camping.
The grey hair in the beard is starting to give that away regardless :)
Grand design does a good version too you can see here m.ua-cam.com/video/VmIUu6Yd4fc/v-deo.html
I just acquired and moved into a 20 year old Road Ranger by Kit the floor plan of this Jayco is almost identical
to my Road Ranger. Pretty much a very standard floor plan used by virtually all manufacturers over the years. Mine has a full size queen but no bunks.
This layout is like a crocodile -- it's the living fossil of the RV world and not likely to die out any time soon
Thanks for this tour, Josh! Thanks for the dramatization of the use of the field expedient emergency bathroom handle.
Any time! lol
I love the bedroom... a little more open than a "private" bed. I tend to lean toward the murphy style bed trailers due to it being more open.
And that helps take off some length/weight/cost
This is a good starter for sure.
I think so!
Nice Jayco😊😊👍👍👍👍👍
The wall is great for me, makes me less claustrophobic.
👍🏻
Josh it’s a good thing it wasn’t windy outside. Your wig would have blown off! Lol! You are so funny. Glad we have you around. This is a nice starter if that’s the right word for a camper for a family. I like it. It sleeps a lot. I like either or wall or curtain. Not fussy. Thank you Josh for showing this Rv. Have a great night and see you soon!
WIG?! That’s NATURAL TALENT 😆

You had me going? Lol!😂😂🤣🤣
Just messing with you Josh!

Either full privacy wall or wide open. Studded walls equals coat hanging ability. Storage under the bed, dinette benches, etc is nice. McDonald's in Three Rivers, 131 and 12, cop shop on the corner, is our stop.
can the bunks be removed? that looks like a great place for a desk and dog storage
Yeah bunks aren't structural
When my families time comes, this is the camper I want to get. Hoping I’ll be able to find a deal on a used one by then.
Man I forgot about that 27P!
Any storage at floor level absolutely needs to be a pullout drawer for ease of use and efficiency of using all the space. Plastic bins wont be a perfect fit and that's lost space around it. Pass that along for me Joshy.❤
👍🏻
Yeah Saturday was like being in the middle of a zebra herd! Sorry I missed you
Just leave it as is. A- great 👍 review . Thanks
TY Scott!
Had this floor plan with Salem Cruise, as our first camper. Worked great for my family until my son got too big and we traded up for a bunkhouse with a slide for more room. A full wall with door would have been better than the curtain.
TY Christian
I would like the wall and door for the main bedroom, then add over head storage
👍🏻
This is the same floorplan that I slept in for my first towable experience. It holds a special place in my heart. I would love to have one of these, but our family is much smaller than would use all the sleeping space. Great review brother !
#nerdherd
I'm pretty much the same
I think the outside refer option would be better if it had a 12v plug. By adding a pull out tray, it would be a better use of space. It would be annoying to try to reach around the back of the fridge to get stuff from back there.
That would be awesome
@@JoshtheRVNerd And they could do a temporary wall that slides and locks in position so that if someone wants the full privacy wall or if they decide they want to take it out later, they can do that too.
We have the 2022 264bhw. We thought about a fridge outback, but we just never saw a purpose for it if we could bring a cooler with us.
I would do the same. A good ol' cooler gets it done
I like this model and Springdale by keystone makes the exact same model but the only downside is this is a single furnace vent basic heated camper would love it if they ran some sort of ducting for a 29ft camper
Propanis!!!! You always make me laugh!😂😂😂
😊
I like this one Josh and I really love the hair ! ! ! ! ! Does it come without the bunks?
Jayco no longer makes this living/bedroom layout without bunks. Here's their closest fit currently: ua-cam.com/video/UlTdkf2_STo/v-deo.html
However grey wolf does still make this layout without bunks. See here: ua-cam.com/video/XHn65puywgE/v-deo.html
I think regarding your question about the camp kitchen is I would like a full camp kitchen and not really a partial
👍🏻
And also definitely keep the dad’s medicine cabinet outside
i like the curtain the way that it is. i like have a half wall.
TY Pamela for sharing
10:58 yes, we are the same way. Plan on leaving at 8 AM sharp and get out the door at 9:15 AM sharp and then unfortunately have to stop at a drive-through for a breakfast sandwich. 😢
...so I'm not alone..
This is a nice unit… I think the outside camp kitchen is a little over rated. And this fridge cubby is a good idea. Almost every campsite has a picnic table …. And a small camp stove can be plopped right there on the end of that table…. And the camp stove takes up a lot less storage space.
I feel both ways on it. I think people have forgotten how useful the good old cooler outside the camper can be.
Ice is cheap and gets the job done! :)
I'd prefer a solid wall and door... but not a deal breaker. We only need the privacy for changing really.
Our GO►PLAY version Has it! See here m.ua-cam.com/video/a_yJxP-JvNY/v-deo.html
I would like the cupboard to extend over the window on the kitchen side.......I would love the fridge outside I'm handicap hard to get in n out of camper.
East to West extended that cabinet which I think is cool in their new 250BHLE. I'll have footage of that coming but man I'm backlogged!!
I think the DBud is still my favorite.
As soon as they adopted that versalounge the DBUD jumped up HIGH on my list
It's actually been tried years past by some brands and was not met with success.
also.. what hat? That's all natural baby lol :)
@@JoshtheRVNerd Awesome, thanks for the info #RvNerd. I had suspected something like that but didn't really know. Now I do.
Sounds like perhaps the seal gasket around the A/C unit isn't working properly. DEFINTELY get that checked out ASAP
Whoever can get you in first. I'd love it if we could take care of you but that's not something you want to let wait around
Another great review. I put money on the Baja edition of this today because we boondock a lot. Now I’m wondering if that extra ground clearance and height will be a big negative for highway cruising. Anyone have experience with the Baja?
I don’t personally but I see them being super popular out west
Congrats!! If my videos were helpful, would you mind dropping me a review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review by chance?
Partial privacy bedroom is good when you have kids scared of the dark or are nervous about being "alone" in a strange new place.
What if the adult is scared of the dark
Asking for a friend
Josh! Amazing video video once again! Each time one of these pop up, my internal struggle of Grand Design Transcend 247BH vs Jayco 264BH continues! I really like both these campers A really like each in their own right. I can't decide which is my favorite 🤣
It’s tough. I like them both
@@JoshtheRVNerdthey're both SO GOOD
Oh also, I don't like the idea of fiberglass skin because if you catch a tree branch, the repair cost is way worse than the corrugated siding.
It actually has more load bearing capacity even vs plywood
You're looking at two brands there that are very well matched basically
Love the hair!
😊
Check out Starcraft AR 26BH if u like this. Pretty much same camper, made by Jayco as well, with more cabinet storage. And a fully private master bedroom! That’s what we went with, and a little cheaper, I believe.
Starcraft/Highland is owned by Jayco but they are built in their own facilities.
I totally acknowledge that's splitting hairs but someone might be curious to learn about it
You need to work on that comb over. 😀
The 3D walk-throughs on the Jayco website also have a measurement mode where you click on the two points you want to measure and it tells you what it is. Any manufacturer who uses Matterport for their walk-throughs should have the same function available.
I would prefer a full wall behind the couch but this is ok as a compromise.
I prefer tinted and would look for something else if the trailer had one of the other two.
If I turn the hat around, then my forehead gets furry lol
But that isn't what they're made for
Most folks will tell you otherwise in hopes of taking your money. I want you to know what's real so you can make an educated decision
Transcend will be extremely parallel
@@JoshtheRVNerd MUCH appreciated regarding full time living vs full time rv VERY helpful.
You never specified if this was an all season camper or not. Most UA-camrs forget to tell that important detail. Especially for folks buying in northern states.
Hi! Love your videos:) So informative! What would you suggest for a family of 6, first time rvers, wanting to tow with a grand caravan??
Heya! Thanks for watching! :)
I fear the vehicle is the limiting factor here.
Fully closed private bedroom would be much better for my needs, snoozers can keep snoozing while others play monopoly in the kitchen.
Love the screen name btw :)
I like having the sofa and it is NOT a Murphy bed. A full time bedroom is nice. I can live with the curtain. And it has an oven. I do like to bake. Definitely a nice camper.
Thanks for sharing!
I love Jayco. I’d purchase Jayco over anything Forest River…
They're not flashy but... they're _Smart_
For a casual camper like me they're an amazing option
We’re looking at this model.
Hi Josh question for solar.. can solar panels be made to remove and taken with you when you upgrade to another trailer ( roof mounted ) thanks in advance
Typically yeah.
Keep the wall for tv mount. The curtains could be sexy with the right material. And easy to clean! I prefer curtains in showers too for easy cleaning. But the sofa crammed tight in the corner is too awkward for me.
It’s 61° in Central Ohio! I’m ready to hit the road with my 27 foot Springdale!
Weather has been all over the place here. Overall I feel like we're trending warmer
Spring break is getting closer and closer. Feeling the itch too here in Cleveland...
@@dennisgrabowski7738 , have you ever been to Cuyahoga national park and if so, did you like it?
The one thing to keep in mind under the couch is the furnace. And occupies the left half of everything under the sofa, so that may limit your options.
Josh-- Do only some of the 23 models come with the grey nose. Also, how does one get into the top bunk without a ladder? Great video sir!
All 23’s should have the nose like this
Kids often climb right into bunks. Ladders are available in our stores
Propanus 🤣
Call Bobby at my Texas store at +1 (903) 918-2976 and see how close to that 22 price he can get the 23
Is that fake hair?
Passing along a couple tips/tricks I’ve come up with on my unit for others to consider:
LOVE input like this from real owners!
I'll consider something like that but it is fairly narrow focus. I'll add it to the list and see what I can work up
Need a Privacy wall with a sliding door! Also, both bunk windows need to open!
Wait until you see what we have in store for you 😊
Still like my grey wolf 26DJSE better.
DJSE is a good one for sure. I just can't seem to get my hands on one. They go out as fast as they come in
@@JoshtheRVNerd let me know the next time you're in the Cleveland area. You're welcome to use mine...
Can you get this unit with out the bunk beds. To use as a office like thing.
Not from the factory but they can be removed. They're not structural or anything
Why are cabnets on the left a different color from the kitchen?
Getting one
Congrats
Did you see that 2024 Jayco now has this same floor plan in as both a 260bh in the SLX series and as a 264bh in the regular series. Would be interesting to see the differences.

Hey Josh,
Was searching your vids for a certain TT that the wife and I are looking at, but don't think you've had a chance to review it or did I over look it.
The Forest River Vibe 28RL-L if possible, could you add that one to your list for upcoming reviews?
Thanks as always Sir!
Ken from the Quad Cities!!
Yeah haven't been able to get to one of those quite yet. last couple of Vibes i did record were quite popular and I'm definitely willing to capture a few more
Can you sleep on the bed of a slide out, if the slide is in?
In towable RVs no one can ever guarantee that so it can never be recommended because no supplier nor RV mfg actually tests for using a slide when retracted.
Motorhomes are built differently and typically can be used with slides closed because they're intended to be occupied in transit.
A full bedroom private wall with the door
Ok my backup plan to an Ember
How about a barn door for the main bedroom.
Like a half wall with a sliding half?
I have a 2019 Jay Flight and I have not been able to complete a single camping trip without something serious breaking. Leaf Springs, power distribution unit, refrigerator door falling off and circuit breaker box coming appart.
Wow, that’s disheartening. I’m sorry to hear that.
That camp queen sees to be my only issue with this beauty. Maybe more cargo capacity ?
Fair enough
Josh, could the tv be moved down the wall so a bigger tv could be installed?
I don't know exactly what's in that wall or where it may be located so I'm not able to really offer a good answer for you
It's the bunk wall (above the dinette seat)the tv is mounted on now in this video . I was just wondering if that mount could be moved down the wall so a larger TV could fit
