I wish the commentators would talk more about what is happening and less about what could have happened. They have made it abundantly clear to me that they don't know their ass from their elbow when it comes to ZSS or Marss as a player
At 7:30 for some reason they said dm should just tech in and he wouldn’t die but it’s a real 50/50 and dm dies either way for guessing wrong. No tech/tech in place/tech roll towards ledge we’re all covered, if dm techs in all Marss had to do was turn around the dsmash. They seem to think if Marss turns around the dsmash he can’t convert a kill but it’s pretty easy to dash through the opponent (which you can do after dsmash) and turn around up b for a kill either way
Mars definitely represents the ZSS community. Wish he would play in more tournies, but I get it. That being said, shoutout to DM. I know people say Pythra is mashy, but I'd like to argue that DM wasn't mashing as much as people think he was. Check out his KO at 6:20. His advantage state was clean af. Keep it up, DM!

@kogu1729 lemme see if I can explain this better, I'm referring to her physical grab as a separate move from all of her throws, looking at the properties and utilities of just the grab, its actually really good at catching landings and probably dash backs too, the reason you don't see it much is A: it still has decent amount of ending lag like most tether grabs, and B: the reward for landing it, in true ZSS fashion, just isn't good, does that clear things up better?
@@thejigglybuff931 I understand but I disagree, it might cover landings and potentially dash backs, but it’s also a frame 15 grab that lasts almost a full second (58 frames) meaning that most characters can punish with a charged smash attack for missing a grab, which is really bad. I guess you could make the argument that it’s better at some things (catching landings and dash backs) better than other grabs, meaning it has a niche and is therefore good, but I agree with OP more especially since ZSS has other tools to cover those options that aren’t as committal/have much higher reward
@kogu1729 yea your right it is super commital with 33 frames of ending lag however I'm talking more so about her dash grab, because it's reaches into mid range territory, this means if a character has an annoying mid range poke tool, like a joker gun or a zair it would synergies well with them since those moves condition shielding you could dash grab as a mixup, I'm sure joker would do just fine with her grab because he could mix it in with his other mid range tools pretty well (although unfortunately that would gut his already bad oos game, however shielding as joker isn't typically that good anyway) the bad part is like you said, can't really be used oos and it's commital
You can have scrub habits and still do well in tournament. Especially with a character as forgiving as pythra. Which is even more understandable since DM is a Pikachu main and not pythra. It's more common to have scrub habits with secondaries
