Great video Kevin! Awesome finds and excellent depth with that monster coil. You and I have a lot in common.. Not only our machine of choice, but also our methods. I agree with everything you said in this video. It’s all about the odds. First thing I do when hunting a new spot is spend about 30 minutes digging a variety of targets so that I can get a good idea of the depth everything is averaging. Then I do exactly what you said. I’ll skip over 90% of those shallow high tones and look for the ones that hit the borderline or deeper where older targets are running. Once I’ve established where this borderline is, I rarely dig clad.. and if I do it was an accident. Of course some sites have old coins right near the surface like the hill I’m currently hunting, but most of the time this method works great and saves me from wasting time & energy on worthless clad. Again, excellent video man! Looking forward to the next one!
Sorry for the late reply DeWayne....but you are dead on the money with the same system I use. The more you can stick to a “method” and DISCIPLINE yourself to use that system....the ODDS become favorable. I’ve hunted a lot with a guy from the Milwaukee area and he would just kick my ASS every time we went. Same site, same machine, same settings, same coil....just a WAXING every damn time. Although I got frustrated that I wasn’t doing as well, I learned what he was doing. Using the same method we do. Time spent NOT digging something you know has VERY low odds of being silver just makes more time to look for those deep weak signals. It’s as simple as that. Keep cranking on that hill, I can’t wait to see what’s next!😀
Educational for those of us that own a CTX. Entertaining for everyone that enjoys this fantastic hobby. Subscribing to your channel was an easy decision. Wishing you much success both in the field and here on UA-cam.
Thanks for your kind thoughts! And yes, I’m also politically incorrect most days, so we wear that as a badge of honor!😀 I’m glad that at least some of the material here is helpful to someone, that is the ONLY reason I do it. Good luck out there and happy hunting!
@@wizardsofwisconsin7400 I have been getting out a bit. Found 2 rosies and a 67 Kennedy silver half the other day! Now I am on vacation at the beach in Florida so I’m looking for jewelry. Hopefully the snow will be gone when I get back
How are you Massi? Great to hear from my detecting friends from around the world! It’s great that this hobby joins people together, no matter where we are! Thank you as always for your kind words, I will do my best to post videos as I have time!🤠
@@wizardsofwisconsin7400 That would be great ! Thanks Kevin ✌🏽 Everything is ok here , strange times off course globally but what a luck that we have something to beep and therefore can ease our minds a little bit nowadays ..
Thanks Tyler! I agree about the quarters, I don’t mean to say I ignore ALL of them. Because I’m kind of beat up right now I’m giving them a pass, but when I’m in top physical form, I do dig a lot of them! It’s just a PLUS all around...at LEAST 25 cents in the bag and the signal COULD be something even better! Good luck out there and be safe!
That's exactly what i just said to my hunting buddy recently...Pass on shallow clad signals to gain more time in finding that deep silver signal..I know this is a 2 year old video but congrats anyways on that Canadian large cent..
Thanks WG! I could not agree more. Of course, while it’s understood that different people are looking for different things, when it comes to hunting silver and old copper it can’t come as any surprise that the people who do well are doing something very specific as we do.
Thanks Clare, this is the best dirt around! Normally Auto+3 is running somewhere in the low 20’s or lower in a lot of places I hunt. DENSE trash will make it run lower, dense NAILS seem to do it too, though I haven’t DUG all that stuff to confirm exactly what is making it self correct to a lower number. Totally organic black dirt seems to do the best, and you can see that’s what I have in this particular place...
I have been really jonesing for some detecting lately, and you're not helping, dude. I'm working in Superior, WI right now, and it's a sloppy mess. Found some good stuff when I was here last year, though.
@@clarewinslowiii2186 Absolutely none taken! Seriously speaking, I have a bit of trouble reading the channel selections on the cable listings from 10 feet away. It’s just about that time....🤓
I was glad just to get out DeWayne, and find some things to put on camera. This method has worked incredibly well even when I’m completely healthy, but now it’s even more critical to use the machines ability to ID targets to its fullest! I also found one more Merc in this last hunt, so coming away with 5 silver coins, the ring and the big copper in 2 hunts on public land is just SCREAMIN’ right along! It wouldn’t happen without this setup, of THAT I am certain. Thanks a lot for the input as always, I appreciate it!

I can't bring myself to not dig obvious quarter signals. I do primarily listen for the deep signals. Great video.

I have never seen auto plus 3 run over 20 in my area. I can usually run 20 manual. Auto plus 3 wants to run at 16.
