Upgrade for a Router Table Insert

In this video I’m upgrading my old router table with a new router and router table insert. My old routers are too small (and dying) for some of my larger bits, so I upgraded to a 3 -1/4 HP variable speed router. To support that in my table, I needed a new ¼” aluminum plate.

I work in a sheet plastics shop.
Told my boss ( 45+ year fabrication veteran )I was gonna use 3/8" cast for my insert plate.
He told me... no...use a 1/2" polycarbonate sheet, as he's had many many people come in for this purpose over the years, and it always sags eventually.
So I got my 1/2" polycarb plate, routed off of the same size insert plates at work, and made a interior hole template the shape of the plate out of styrene to make an exact fit with a reverse flute trim. bit.

What is the thickness of these Rockler plates? Cannot find it on their website. Please Help!!

@jacquesmostert4115 the thickness listed on Amazon says 3/8" but I measured mine, and it was 1/4". You may have to check with Rockler...

Yeah, I've kind of given up on the music thing. I used it in early videos to try and cover some poor recording issues.

It is just a personal thing, but I dislike the music. Too loud for one, and it takes ones attention away from the video.
