Just got this on the Black Friday Sale for 19.99 and so far after a couple of hours I am absolutely loving it, yea it’s similar to Mario Kart but I will say it’s very fun. I really recommend it now and I am so glad I waited for a few years.
I'm glad more people are talking about this game after the patch. Arika isn't known for developing a half-assed product, it was just a bad idea to implement micro transactions.

So the physical version will update into the non-microtransaction version by connecting to internet once? I'm seeing that it's cheaper on my Amazon compared to the eShop :P The game is still fully playable offline now, is it (including local multiplayer)? Nice video btw, it was hard to find any people talking about it since it was such a low-key thing like you mentioned.

Ah, thank you for this video. A bit sad Chocobo GP or main mode (GrandPrix as it was called in Chocobo Racing (PS1)), is that playable online and 2P local splitscreen-able? I saw from another comment that online play still requires NSO, but is that mode still really online-only and 1P-only? Granted, we have custom and series mode which gives gil now, but it feels rather incomplete for the main-ish mode to be still restricted to online play.
Does anyone know if buying the EU version and playing it in an American account will have any problems, I mean can I unlock everything even if the game is from a different region?
Don't quote me on it, but I don't think you'd have any problems. The physical copy we're playing on in this video isn't from an American region, but is being played with an American account.
Sorry for the confusion - unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case, at least not yet. If there are future physical printings of the game, hopefully it would include this update on cart.
You’re grossly overstating how bad the original version was. The paid/physical version of the game on launch day contained the single player and local multiplayer content you run through in the video, the key difference is the F2P battle Royale mode is no longer monetised in the same way. There were always two shops with tickets and gil, just the means of getting gil and tickets has changed post patch. It’s a good patch but the game was always solid from launch (I picked up physical on launch), the issues were blown out of proportion. Square Enix should have separated the F2P online multiplayer into a separate game like GTA Online and Halo Infinite multiplayer to avoid the controversy it didn’t deserve. Still, I’m glad you point out that the cosmetics/unlocks are now all in the game since they were added after launch via season updates.
I Still Don't Like How Much Of A Mobile Game This Game Feels When You Play The Game... It's Still Got Microtransactions, Your Just Not Paying For Them With Real Money Anymore... Not A Fan Of This... I'd Rather Just Have Few DLC & Few Expansion Packs, & Call It A Day Earning A Few Other Things In Game... Not Into That Whole Grind Fest Style Gaming, Especially On A Race Karting Type Game, oO

You should do the do the story mode in extra till the end as you get the cactuar! He’s worth it!

I like this game now. Wish they port the old PS1 tracks into the new engine kinda like MK8DX's BCP

Nah, even without the cancer microtransaction bs, this game still plays like feces.
If you want an actual good Chocobo racing game, play the ps1 game.
I played the demo when it first came out and the feeling of the racing felt flat as hell
Bomberman Fantasy Race is even better
