As a life long fan of Elton John ,i can not love him with out loving Bernie Taupin. Magnificant combination of heart and talent. The soundtrack of my life. Bravo Bernie , You absolutley deserve it🎶♥️
@mikeoakley7470 Oh, I totally think not! I do believe that the John-Taupin songwriting partnership is a true act of God! They're not just one-in-a-million, they're one in an eternity!! Sure, someone else could've written music to Bernie's incredible lyrics, and of course, Elton can and has written music to the words of others, but together, these two have been SO much more than the sum of their parts! To say that they bring out the best in each other's work is a gross understatement - together, they simply are The Best!!! 🌟🎶👑👑
I was a driver in L.A., back in the late 2000s, and I had the pleasure of picking up and driving Mr. Taupin. On the drive, I had on a jazz station, and a trombone player's song came on. Right away he knew it was J.J. Johnson. I had all the respect in the world for him for knowing that! He knew music!
I was 17 in 1971...just coming of age...every song brings back such exquisite memories. 71 years old now sitting here thinking what an incredable privelage it was to grow up then. And they're still together!!!!! It's so comforting to have continuity in life.
After those 2 speeches from those 2 geniuses then Elton sits down to sing "Tiny Dancer"...I was done! The tears just started falling. Wow. I'm 58 and from America, and these guys have been the background music of my entire life. There isn't a song they have written or sang that I can't attach a memory to. Love you both so so much, and thank you for being a part of MY life. Now let's get a well-deserved Nigel, Dee, and Davey of the band inducted, too, and we are set!
Same here,I am 58 also and Elton n Bernie have been at every turn!! So happy to be living with them in my life!! Seen Elton pretty many times and lucky enough to have taken my daughter and she has a liking for Elton as well.I wasn't as lucky as my hubby,he was Eltons limo driver for a concert and he and Elton went to a downtown bar afterwards and had drinks!!❤
I am from the Watts section of L.A., from a family of musicians. My dad and uncles played everything in the '60s and '70s. Tiny Dancer is one of my all-time favorites!
60 years old male-I had the same reaction...I was like why are the tears coming and i thought wow-he chose that song to honor Mr. Taupin and what they represented together and the obvious, that it was one of Mr. Taupin''s loves and I never made that connection before...It is all about the people-the material trappings are not what will be remembered or valued when we look back at the journey!
A lyrical genius, sometimes the star's collide and a partnership of magnificence emerges.. Lennon/McCartney...Taupin/John... equal's in changing music. I salute you Mr Taupin... we'll await your knighthood !!!!!
It is given that you cannot mention Elton without mention of Bernie. I think all of Elton's fans would agree. That Elton John and Bernie Taupin are a musical match made in heaven. They have a lyrical musical connection that goes on and on. Today Bernie is being recognized for his beautiful words that are the center of Elton's music. It is fitting Elton John would be the one to induct Bernie into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It is a full circle moment for both Elton & Bernie. One Elton & Bernie's fans rejoice with. Congratulations to Bernie Taupin 0n this well deserved award!
He looks a bit emotional after all these years!!!!!! Sir Elton John you have made our lives so complete with your music and Bernie’s lyrics! Your shows are amazing live!!!!!! Much love to you and Bernie!!!!!
Bernie and Elton are the best duo of all time. Better than Simon and Garfunkel. The songs they created have stayed with me my entire life. My 13 year old self was blown away when I heard Saturday Night's Allright for Fighting but the rest of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was even better than I could have imagined. I was a fan for life. Congratulations Bernie Taupin. Love your work and your work is much appreciated.
Thats about my story too,I was about 13,a immediately became a fan for life!! 45 years later, and he still sounds goosebumps down my body!! Lucky to have seen him many times in concert, each one as exhilarating as the first!❤
I have listened to all Elton’s and Bernie’s all early albums including Empty Sky darting in 1971 at 11 years old from my brother’s record collection and loved all of them ever since. Bernie is an incredible writer and should have been in The Writers Rock Hall of Shame at it’s inaugural.
Britain's answer to Rogers and Hammerstein! Teamwork is a powerful thing! Wonderfully captivating tunes, videos, and memories! The 1970s appeared to be Elton's finest decade. Wow! Cheers to them both! * Cav *
Elton and Bernie, thank you for blessing our lives with your iconic and superb collaboration of creativity. You both have entertained millions of people for decades ❤❤
Fantastic. Elton and Bernie really brought home how deep their friendship and their work together are. Anyone who has not heard their early albums--Elton John through Honky Chateau--is missing out on unique, magnificent, cinematic, soulful music. Bless them
Thanks Bernie for mentioning Johnny Mercer. My Dad played in his band just after WW2. Hambone Kelley's was where he played a lot. He told me so many stories about his commute to work in Oakland to going to school in Sausalito and then playing with Johnny till 2AM at the club in Union Square.
"Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" was our anthem in 1974, as a junior in high school, it fit our crazy asses to a "T"! Thank you Elton & Bernie for the timeless classics you have given us over the years and decades!
Bernie is so chill. His lyrics are amazing. I cannot thank him and Elton enough for how their music has affected my life. I listen to Elton everyday. Their music has given me joy when I needed it. Their music has given me comfort when I needed it. Thank you Bernie and Elton.
I grew up listening to Elton John and on or in his album covers I loved reading the information contained and that's where I learned of Bernie Taupin's involvement. I loved this duo!
THE greatest song writer of all time! The way Bernie Taupin puts words, images, and stories together are pure genius! I have been a life long admirer since my teens! My very first concert was Elton John in the early 70s at McNichols Arena in Denver Co! Bernie Taupin played in Denver in the 90s and came to my place of work The Oxdord Aveda Spa/ Hotel in Denver. He was personally handing out flyers to tell people he was playing! ( I missed this opportunity on my day off!! 😢) However, this video is epic and I am so so happy to finally see his name in lights and being honored with this very well deserved Award!!! "My high Flying Bird" Bernie Taupin you are amazing.❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
Elton and Bernie - These guys were the music of my life. Got to see them together on Elton's 60th B-day at MSG. How awesome would it have been to have Bernie sit on a stool at the the piano while Elton played for him. Somebody dropped the ball there.
Congrats Bernie for finally getting your due! Like he said, there’s no Elton without Bernie. And Sir Elton still got it singing Tiny Dancer. Can’t wait for his new album!

Amazing how Bernie was only 17 when he wrote the best song ever “Your Song” ❤
I heard in like 10 minutes too.
That's not even close to my favorite Elton song
He was around 17 also when he wrote the lyrics to an even better song imo- " Skyline Pigeon".
