The reason those old Kenmore’s perform so very well is because they were actually made by the Whirlpool👍😊
This old washer probably out live me!🤙
That washer is built to last, very easy to fix if needed.
They don't make them like that anymore.
That's for sure!🤙
People used to replace Kenmore's because they got ugly not because they wore out. lol
Exactly! We bought our Kenmore washer/ dryer set brand new in 1998. They are UGLY but they still work great. Sure wish they still made them
@@photoroll back then Kenmore was still made under contract for Sears by the Whirlpool corporation
Ugly is fine by me! It continues to work and that's all I care about! ALoha!🤙
😉🤙
Great video. I was wondering about washing machines. RIP work hat.
Mahalo! No problem with the washing machine on solar. Need a new work hat now! Been through the washer one too many times! It held up about 15 years I think I had that ol hat! Aloha!🤙
Very cool video on utilizing what we have to get the job done. On the other end of the spectrum there are all-in-one washer/dryer units you can get these days where the drying part is actually done with a small heat pump. You put the clothes in, turn it on and walk away. When you come back your clothes are clean AND dry, although it does take more time than if you had separate units for each job. As a bonus, you don't need a dryer vent and the whole thing runs off 120v, so no 240v needed for an electric dryer.
I've never owned a dryer! Usually just time a load when I expects fairly good drying conditions. 🤙
Those Kenmores were well built. Doubt if it will fail anytime soon.
Bought it used even nearly 20 years ago, and never broke down once so far! Aloha!🤙
kenmore has always been good , you will have go to the bank to buy a new one i was in a big box store wow for high prices
Bought this one for $150 used...pretty much got my monies worth I think! Aloha!🤙
Word of advice on buying a brand new high-efficiency washer some of my friends have bought them and they’re not happy with them at all,,,yes they use far less water and energy however they personally felt The washer didn’t actually use enough water the clothes weren’t getting washed well enough or rinsed well enough,,,you’ll have cleaner laundry with an old-school washer. we were going to buy one of those high efficiency jobs but I got to talking to people that I knew that actually had them and they weren’t happy with them at all so we decided on a stack up job instead,,,we’re getting a Whirlpool stack up combo washer dryer it’s the one with the 3 1/2 ft.³ washer about the same size as the washer you got there from the looks of it . I don’t know anybody that owns one of them I hope I didn’t make a mistake buying it. Time will tell I guess lol😊👍 i’ve thought about putting Solar on a small electric water heater and letting it get hot through the day and then that’ll just have to carry us through the night until the sun comes up again idk?
Think I'll just keep the old washer. It does just fine. I just use cold water. 🤙
Inspiring! I have a Kenmore 70 Series! Also an oldie!
Oldies but goodies!🤙
As always. Great video. Thank you for your infinite wisdom.
mahalo!🤙
I just did a load of laundry this morning as well. I used my EcolFlow Delta II. I bought my machines off Amazon. The washer uses about 4% and and the dryer takes about 50%. BLACK+DECKER Small Portable Washer, Washing Machine for Household Use, Portable Washer 1.7 Cu. Ft. with 6 Cycles, Transparent Lid & LED Display $313 and COSTWAY Compact Laundry Dryer, 110V Electric Portable Clothes Dryer with Stainless Steel Tub, Control Panel Downside Easy Control for 4 Automatic Drying Mode, White $234 plus I bought the Black and Decker stand for them. They are quiet, efficient and holding up well. A 400w panel keep it charged. part 1: ua-cam.com/video/AIpuzcULplk/v-deo.html and part 2: ua-cam.com/video/R6msC0I_MAY/v-deo.html
Mahalo for that information!🤙
Keep your old machine running the only thing you'll need is to replace the agitator flopping wings maybe a belt here and there not worth buying a new machine just to have a little extra power savings just cheaper to buy another solar panel😅
Totally agree!🤙
Remember. If you want to double the leads, just put both sides of the flat sections of the lugs together. The hump sides against the flange and the nuts. It works well end the cap usually fits easily
I do remember that, and will do soon as I tie it up. I hadn't thought of that actually! Aloha! 🤙
@@ProjectsinParadise808 Aloha brother. I just got a 6000w 12v inverter yesterday. I usually do 48v , but I figured I could use it to weld on the road if necessary.
@@TheTimshady337 I don’t think you could draw 6000 W on a 12 V inverter it would empty your battery in minutes and you need leads as thick as your wrists i’ve got a 3000 W 12 V and if I boil a 2000 W kettle the really thick leads I’ve got as thick as my thumb get red hot and I’ve got a 560A lithium battery
@martprice7726 I'm a tech nerd and in Louisiana on October 3rd 2003 we had hurricane Lilly. We were without power for 10 days. All I had was a Vector MSW inverter, car battery and a fan. Without solar panels and dirty power made it a rough time. I have been upgrading ever since. I have a huge collection now. The reason why most wires get hot is that a lot of companies send cheap CCA wires and or cheap terminals. I make my own with fine strand tinned copper wire and keep them a foot or 2 at the most. The 1 foot will have 1/2 the voltage drop of a 2 foot cable same size. The next problem is can the batteries handle the load without a high voltage drop. That causes issues too. I was surprised to see a 6,000w inverter too. I purchased it and when it arrived I was impressed. The only con is the terminal bolts are small. Everything else about it is impressive. I will probably never need that moch, but it is good to have just in case. Hopefully I will make some videos of my collection. There are so many things coming out and that's why I am here. Aloha 🤙
Nice test Bob. Our washer is newer and WOW does it have massive swings from 5w to 500w I start to feel sorry for the inverter LOL
Aloha brother! I never really knew before this test exactly what the old beast was drawing, but it really wasn't as bad as I thought. Guess I will keep it! 🤙
I have a small system 12v with 3000w inverter and 200ah lifepo4 battery just for my utility laundry shed. I just have to hang dry like you. Dryer is only used for linens and to fluff towels. BtW I am using an old Kenmore washer.
How much did it ever pull as it started the spin cycle? Whatever newer machine you get to replace this old one will likely have all the electronic BS and it may not like the voltage going down below 110V as the inverter gets closer to rated load. I experienced that when recently replacing an old machine like this and then got a good strong, Giandel 2200W inverter that holds the voltage at or above 118-119V right up to rated power. Have a couple of CNSWIPower inverters elsewhere running room a/c's as well that hold the volts up at 120V, or even a bit more, as well. Aloha, bruddah.🍍
Spin was 400 and something watts as I recall. All in all that little system ran it effortlessly. Mahalo brother!🤙
I have an old dinosaur on my system as well…I have it on a Giandel 2000 watt….BUT it does make the lights flicker when the washer is running. Thinking of expanding the system to pick up a coulple of more rooms in the house. I might pick up a 3000 watt and swap it out for 2000 watt….the other room is just some light and phone charges basically. Love the videos. Gonna be a good solar week in Ohio :)
Super dark and rainy here atm. Old dino's are just fine IMO. Charge up in Ohio brother! Nice!🤙
nice set up. That a good test for inverter. them old washer has big start up surge. just find a spot for it. the fans loud on inverter but keep it cool . now you have a outher station for back up if you need. food before cloths wash . that a great test for that battery as well. you can run lights on that as well and much more . gives you a place to plug in pump for water as well. I have much newer LG washer. it a inverter drive one. takes half that power. runs on smaller inverter . washers came a long way. uses less water as well but must use HE laundry soap . says right in the lid. has a wheel with bumps to clean so wont hurt your old hat. the old washers hard on cloths .
Yeah, don't think I caught the actual surge on the inverter. When it kicked, took a couple seconds before it just showed what the running current was. Pretty sure the surge was higher, but happy with this little set up. Will for sure tie it up for yet another backup. When this old machine finally gives up I want the style like you got. Sounds real good! Food before clean clothes! Haha! Indeed. Aloha brother, and have a good weekend!🤙
Inspirational mate!
Aloha!🤙
Pretty cool 😎👍😊
Aloha!🤙
Great video
🤙🐋
Does your machine have a heater in it or does it have a hot feed in ? , most of our machines in the UK only have cold feed in.
No heater in the machine. I can use hot water line in off my on demand hot water , but I just use cold. Works fine. Aloha!🤙
newer ones may have an inverter motor and would use less electricity but a washer does not really run that long. I don't think it is really worth it to spend the money on an inverter type washer. Especially the electronics used in an inverter style washer they will not last but a few years and would be very expensive to repair. The regulators making these decisions on requirements for efficiencies Do not take any of that into consideration.
I'm keeping the dinosaur! Tried and true.🤙
Nice! ✌
