I bought one exactly like this new in 87, when I was 18 years old. Put 10,000 miles on it, in 6 months what a bike. And yes this bike could handle extremely well. Brings back so many memories watch your video.

I just got a 1986 fz600 to restore for my first road bike! I am slowly saving the money to buy parts. Awesome bike you have.

Thank you for caring and sharing.
Our Yamaha FZR600 require special care.
They are Vintage Motor Sport Bikes that parts are very tough to find.
But if you have the vision, drive, and don't give up on her.
She will be once like she use to be (Lovey, Dependable, And Deadly Fast).

Here's some advice. I don't know how much work your bike needs or how much money or work you plan on putting into it. But start figuring out what parts you need now! Then see if you can find the parts you need and how much it will cost you. Reason being is that depending on the parts, some you may not be able to find any or they may be costly. And if at that point you are able to find all the parts you need and you still plan on continuing on, then you better buy the parts then because they may not be available later.
For me I had a hard time finding a gas tank that wasn't dented all up and rusted and even those were rare. Also a fuel cock and carburetor boots. The tank and fuel cock costed an arm and a leg. I couldn't find any boots. My boots were hard so they didn't fit snug. I ended up heating them up to soften them and got them to fit the best I could.
Some things you can find a work around but some things you can't.

I just got an 87 also to restore but man it needs just about everything done to it. Had to buy a set of carbs off ebay from the UK because they were the ONLY ones on the internet I could find

I have a 1986 FZ600 and a 1984 VF500 Interceptor that's been sitting for years. Just got the FZ600 running again. The Interceptor, maybe one day.
Parts are hard to impossible to find and are not cheap for these bikes.

      Nice 🙂
When there is a will there is a way regardless of part availability time or cost.
The 1986 Yamaha FZ600 Blue is a very nice color scheme if that's what you have.
Best wishes on the 1984 Honda VF500F to ride again some day soon.

Probably one of the best handling bikes ever made including new ones. A decent rider on this slower FZ 600 could eat my ninja 600 or any honda hurricane or gsxr 600 of the same era. I had ninja buddy had FZ that thing was light years better in corners. I always wanted one.

Thanks For Sharing Your Memory And Opinions On The Handling of The FZ600 Back In The Day Compared To Others Then And Now.
      The FZ600 Does Stand Apart From My Knowns (1984 Honda VF500F Interceptor, 1988 Honda CBR600F1 Hurricane, 1986 600R Ninja, 2005 CBR600RR).
I Do Really Enjoy The FZ600 Look And Handling.

Ya exactly ?? you will never get an answer or be able to buy it.. gonna make a guess listening to the speech do not see him as a museum type-- some one has a collection and he shows them on his channel. on his back porch - he was not even alive when these bikes were out-
