Ladies and gentlemen... the corps entering the field... this is their first year in competition.... this is their very first... field show... You may take the field when ready...
I just found this tonight...I've seen that 2017 FINALS performance a thousand times, and have it just about memorized shot for shot and then I see this so I got this whole new take on this AMAZING SHOW!! Thanks for Posting DATR!!!
just now realizing that their reference to the first year they started marching is why the first movement sounds more traditional and older marching snare ish
They really did, watching this (as someone who could never march/play this in a million years) after watching the finals/victory run several dozen times, they made a lot of great changes especially in the first half of the show. And at the end, having them all spread out across the field, made for a much more dramatic ending
@@cmqguy I think he’s referring to the recorded voice at the end of the finals show before the last hit. It does sound weird without it after listening to the finals run a bazillion times :)
@Simon Walrod u only hear the quad feature because the music and drill writers felt bad about forcing them to play snare then putting them on the sideline until their feature. After the feature they dont play again until the end of the ballad when they hail the final hit before movement 4
Can we get a moment of silence for the beginning where all the tenor players had to play snare until the brass came in and then not only did they not play until the end of song one, they didnt even march because they were kneeling behind the pit for it
Camera angles seem to be a bit different than the normal finals run. (Not the victory run). Which performance is this? And no vocal recording at the beginning?
Even though this was earlier in their season and wasn't their cleanest run I think this is the best camera work of this show I could find so far
They show the trumpet bumblebee soloist at the beginning! Only one I've seen that does that
Agreed!
@@jonharper5919 That's very true... I just now noticed that too after so many other run-through's of this show....
By far
Not to mention, the audio is really good.

@Powdered Soap It's a call back to their introduction the very first time they performed. This show was their 75th anniversary.
JD Dee it was actually 60th anniversary I believe
JD Dee also it would make sense for it to be for the 60th anniversary as the term “diamond” appears a lot in the show.
@@thomasf6280 oh, Ya 60th. I knew it was their "Diamond" anniversary, I just thought the diamond year was 75. oops.
@@JimmyDeester haha all good bro. I will never forget this show. Btw you should watch the finals later today. It'll be sick!!!

They improved this show so much later on, especially percussion, some of the best hits aren't even in this

Omg I was so ready for the "Concord, Blue Devils" it sounds so weird without it
When anyone hears Blue Devils in DCI everyone knows it’s the Concord Blue Devils.

The pit played so loud!! If they can do that so can the pit in my marching band.

@Simon Walrod IKR!
They marched flight of the bumble bee... I didn’t even know that was possible
Caynon Artibee i can't believe it also
Its been done several times before by real drum corps
@@Mrtellitlikeitis This implies... that the Blue Devils... arent a real drum corps?
3:44 F in chat for that poor corps that had to perform after the BlueDevils
I think that was blue knights lol
This is early season ya'll
Brandon Ha off season
Rip tuba near bottom 3:19
Good recovery though
sShaner yeah took it like a champ
Good looking 😁😁😁
Wait hold on two of them fell. Something had to have been up
This may very well be my favorite show from BD ever.
When this premiered in June of 2017, I knew every other corps was competing for second place. It was electric from pillar to post.
Fun to hear some classic BD tunes and rhythms honored during the first minute. One-Eyed Sailor, Dindi, stuff from the 1970s and 80s.
the quality of this is spectacular!
Agreed!

This was a run much earlier in the season, probably before july or june even
Trying your best to impress an Asian be like
Do anybody realizes that one of the tuba player fell down at 3:15?
He took it like a champ though and had a great recovery
2 of them
and 3:19
That was a great recovery.
Two of them something was up with that field
The La Suerte de los Tontos reference in the beginning is one of my favorite parts.
