Hey Tim, are you still programming while you’re a full time UA-camr? What are your thoughts on AI/ML/AGI? From my perspective, doesn’t this seem as the most pivotal moment in history? Assuming it will happen, but it hasn’t happened yet, our decisions will affect its development correct? So shouldn’t we spend our time on trying to best in ensuring prosperity and success with this, as it can bring a WHOLE lot of amazing benefits, but with that much power there must be ethical concerns to be wary of and act on, correct?

As someone learning from AI, a big tip that helps to add to his point is asking for syntax instead of the code from ai. alot of the time the ai gives too much when all you need is a little hint

I guess this is not right.
To become a good programmer someone has to see the whole picture but not the whole picture at the same time(to even start doing things lol).
How would it be useful if someone is just programming some Spaghettistyle-Code, if he does not understand the higher concepts and thinks he is right, just because he is able to write code that compiles that AI gave him, just because AI is exactly doing what it was asked for, even if it is not the right thing to do so.
But i have no idea if AI is even mentioning that it is bad what it was asked for, because i havent tried it for myself yet, that i would just ask for code that compiles.
Just ask for the Code, and try to understand and ask yourself the whole time, use Google in paralell or even open another chat and learn the details(but at the same time dont get lost into it how a hashtable works mathematically behind, or why or how it gets done like it gets done, if you dont have an academical degree in Math or you are a Genius). I think this is also crucial besides understanding the higher concepts.
Yesterday i found out trivially from code that AI give me what a Monad means, what a category is in this context. Sure i would Not understand magically the what the whole thing of a monad and how are all mathematical things behind it are working in particular, but i was kind of astounded. It just came into my mind.

    • @halorx9863
      @halorx9863 5 місяців тому

Also someone should always give his whole code to AI, without exceptions. And i would not answer the question why he should do so, because if someone would ask me that he would be just not thinking in the slightest way possible aka plain stupid in this moment.
Maybe someone should not give the whole code if someone is doing illegal things. But then he should also stop using Copilot in his IDE and also his private Git if he is hosting his "things" there, if he is that paranoid, just to mention it. Or should even stop using Windows, without jokes.

2.Utlise the efficient tools, like ChatGpt, figure out the fundamental concepts and basic skills
    3. Mess things up,keep curious and explore different ways to accomplish your project,
    4. Find your pals, talk with them, know your progress better
5.Keep trace of a reputable curriculum, learn it on your own and try to make your knowledge structured
    6.Practice makes perfect, stay focused。

I wasted so much time, didn't get a single interview, and started to feel hopeless until I started applying for non-entry roles. Within the first 3 weeks I got like 4 interviews and the job I ended up actually landing, I'm pretty sure I completely failed the coding questions 😭

    1. Figure out my goal
Remind yourself this goal whenever you feel overwhelmed
    2. You need to have a plan
You need to know what to learn
Find a course that suits you
Keep track your progress throughout your journey.
    3. You need to practice coding every single day
3 to 4 hours a day just learn and practice
    Eliminate all your distractions
    Give yourself time to study
    4. Constantly ask yourself a question ( be curious )
This will lead you to find out more about something ( why is it like this, how can i do this way.... )
    5. Utilise personal assistance ( chat gpt for example)
This will prevent from getting stuck at certain project.
Let chat gpt solve your problem, learn it , identify your mistakes.
    6. You need to have a feeling of wanting to solve problems
    7. Join any community
It helps you to communicate with others and ask them to teach us.
