Right?? \(•◡•)/ I love World Heritage sites! You can absolutely visit Gudvangen for hikes and tours and this particular village even has a historical tour where you get to experience a bit of what it was like to live in one of these Norwegian villages! So cool~! ^~^ Honestly, I'd love to go to one of these villages some day. My ma is Norwegian/Swedish (matrilineal) and Chahta/Basque (patrilineal) - not to mention my da being Nigerian and Cameroonian, but that's a whole different topic that could send me even further into making this comment even more of an excitable novel than it already is. 🤦🏾♀️😂 (Apologies for that, by the way! Lmao) But it's definitely a dream to visit mine, as well as others', cultural heritage sites! Anthropology and cultural sociology/history is something that's just so incredibly fascinating! (/・ω・)/♡
I live in the states and you should see some of the looks I get when I get my hair done. Yes my ancestors are viking. So I have the beard and the hair.. I have also been asked why do I have my hair done like a colored person? And I have to educate them that vikings have had this hair style way before..
Love it, specially the end part with the rope or whatever, I never imagine hat was done like that, and hahha Romanian Viking , love it, specifically cos I am Romanian too with somewhat Germanic ancestors
Search bone bodkin or bone sewing needle. They’re fairly easy to find. What she’s doing with it has a name, it’s called hair taping and it’s what was done before hairpins were the norm.
Yup! It’s just a thin, dull, bone needle. I’ve also used dull needles made of wood and if I’m really desperate, a weavers needle or a darning needle will do the trick! But the bone one always looks great in the village. 😍
Ah, my definition of slippery sounds like your definition of silky slipperiness. 👍 Basically, it’s harder to grip because it wants to slide out of your fingers. Not oily! Oily would be easier to grip 😅
I am Scandinavian as well but my hair is red and curly. We always called our hair slick. It's not oily at all, it's just that the hair cuticle is so smooth that all the hairs lay right up against each other, therefore it does not have any grip or friction.
@@celticgypsychick that's cool well my hair is an oily either it's just very slippery and smooth as silk I just never knew that the nordics had that problem or that hairstyle back in those years is it something new I learned and it's something I like listening to you because I like more facts on nordics and I do have a tiny bit of red in my hair like a little bit and my mother's sister has red hairs and she's Nordic
My son is 1/2 Navajo and I’m always doing stuff like this on his hair. Had no idea it was a Scandinavian style. My son has hair almost to his butt and it’s curly.
Gah! I’m only just noticing this now! Epic filming as always! You guys are such a fun bunch of beards to have around! So when am I braiding you again? I need to keep tabs on your hair growth ;)
I wish I could get my hair done by you. The braids look awesome the way you at the string would be perfect for slicked straight hair. Love from America. Baltimore Maryland to be exact.

So i have danish viking blood and im trying to braid my hair in a viking style just im a dude and had short hair for most of my life and never realy knew how to do my hair a ponytail is what i can do also idk something about that place is just fucking buetiful i would love to own a place there and have it for like holidays or vacation
I dont undestand why vikings had such a bad reputation in the middle ages. Its was such a beautifull culture. All they wanted was gold, land and raping.
Did you hear the make it tight but not super tight or else it looks like a basketball player? You folks are too much. There has to be a law in the US that allows black people to wear their hair like this and you guys are playing dress up and getting your history from a TV show then literally insulting a look on someone with a different shade of skin wearing a style that is considered more appropriate for their ancestry. This is literally the definition of cultural appropriation or culture vultures. It's not about the style that you're wearing it's the comment that you made regarding it that sends the wrong message.
This type of braiding exists in europe for thousands of years in REAL and PHYSICAL proof of statues, especially in southern europe. Northern europeans since the iron age have been found with their hair braided. The oldest statue with a person who has cornrows was found in France and its 25.000 years old. This is literally a basic hair braid, which probably existed since forever, so from what afrocentric website you have the idea that they are "black"(subsaharan african)? Doesn't matter, because its wrong. African Americans are the ones using it extensively right now, that it's true, but doesn't mean they invented shit. I repeat, this is literally the most basic form of braiding ever, it's nothing special about it, like in the case of dreadlocks. Modern humans probably know this form of braiding since they know how to make fire. So just go back to your cave and don't leave it anymore.
This village would be awesome to visit

I never knew that my hair’s slickness was a Scandinavian thing! 😂 my mom is Swedish/Norwegian and my dad is an American mutt ❤
Same, my mom was first generation Finnish and Norwegian, my hair is REALLY slippery the first day after a shampoo!
@@annec781yup! It’s actually easier to braid hair the 2nd or 3rd day because of that 👍
I have coarse, polish/Spanish hair.
There's so many good tips in here! Wish we could have a closer look at that hair tool she used, for that straight line, too.

Those are African braids. Intelligent people know this. Use common logic not cultural appropriation.
Yeah, just like all those bog bodies- they were stealing hairstyles from Africa 8,000 years ago.
@@ChillinB There is no research anywhere that will refute cornrow braids as AFRICAN in ORIGIN.
