As a Light Blue Crimson Guard I can completely confirm this to be our daily routine.

Just press and hold the joy stick while walking towards a wall.

Wuh...? What? I would swear to you that I have tried this trick and it does not work, but that's me remembering my experience from 12+ years ago...
I think you found an interesting bug in their AI. The path you took seems to have funneled the other guards that were chasing you, and if I recall their AI has them turn around in circles a lot, so I'd bet they would've found you had you went to hide on the other wall next to you.
Nice find. I recall _almost_ getting away with it a lot of times on walls like that, but I moved around a lot lol.

You just did it wrong. There are time when it doesn’t work, you probably just did it at the wrong times.

@@Herozilla8109 Well obviously XD. I was way too inexperienced as a seven-year-old gamer to pull that stuff off. I was always (and I guess I still am) trying to go for the optimal "one-size-fits-all" methods, which as a young child that meant always, and I mean always, moving into that "optimal" position, even at the cost of stealth.
But interestingly, what you did wasn't a matter of the best or worst times! Because you made that "U" shaped movement around that building, you actually did a few interesting things:
(and side note, you don't have to read this. This was stuff I just picked up on in the clip and it is really cool to me)
      (1) You broke your pursuer's line of sight (obviously lol)
      (2) The AI of the time was to always go for "optimal" programming. This was before programmers realized that humans don't always walk in the shortest distance every time they went somewhere. What this means is that the AI (in this case, the guard's "chasing" AI) will always take the shortest route, and the shortest route around a "U" is, well, tight around the building. So you funneled them into one zone haha. (note, while it can be argued that humans also tend to do that around "U"s, it's still a "tend to," as since people like to naturally give other people room, the moment that 90 degree mark would've been met, someone would've spaced out).
      (3) the way you hid was in a perfect spot to be outside of their "coned" line-of-sight as they all shuffled past you.
But what actually fascinates me is how small that "cone" actually seems to be. It made that one guard who blocked you off go right past you lol. I suspect that there's a bit of code in there that made him think that you actually went beyond where you went (As after the others turn and don't see you, they immediately merge into specific paths).
And an utterly unrelated note: I'm looking for people who will playtest a horror game I'm slowly making. Would you be interested in playtesting it? I don't know if it will see the light of day. But if it does, I'll need a lot of feedback. I'll even give you a Steam Key to the final product if you're interested.

@@HandleDisliker I don't think it's all that complicated really. All it takes is for you to activate a wall-hug as soon as you are out of every chasing guard's line of sight. You probably factor in all that extra pathing logic because there aren't that many objects that you can use out in the open to "hug onto" and even if there are - chances are there's too much open space not to already be in a hostile's line of sight.
