The only advantages I can see to having a robot partner would be: 1) it can’t get pregnant, 2) it has an “off” switch, 3) cannot claim half your assets when its warranty expires.

I just turned 60, but I remember it by twenties seeing a show on the toilet Zone where there was a woman robot, while she was actually human pretending to be real but of course, but anyway she was entered into the life of a very lonely miserable man. They became friends she helped him with everything, Was His companion held his hand hugged him, was always there for him went places with him and all the sudden he turned into a happy new man. He felt cared for, appreciated and loved. There were millions of people who are lonely in this world. They're hundreds of thousands of handicapped people who feel they will never have love. I have dreamed of this and hopefully in my lifetime I will get to have one.

The answer to loneliness and love is to love oneself first and foremost. I haven’t had a worthwhile partner since 2003 & I have never been lonely or need others to love me. As a matter of fact, I am often scared to share me with another human being because I am so much in love with me & selfish with myself or self love. 😂. Modern society teaches people to rely on others for ❤ & that’s not good. Self love is the greatest love of all. If you love yourself enough you’ll never feel lonely at any point in life, especially if you are a spiritual person.

It's not as bizarre as you think to fall in love with machinery.. we have been doing it for years unconsciously.
When it comes to their favorite machinery I've often heard people from a very old generation prefer to their machinery is a good old girl.
    Mostly pickup trucks.
But sometimes it could be a sawmill or something that they really love doing.
And if they can perform a task that is beneficiary and profitable.
Once again you'll hear people saying she's a good girl she keeps going most of the time sometimes I have to give her a little oil but she's made me a lot of money. Pretty dependable and liable despite some other little corks.
But I know I'm all and she sure has paid for herself she's a pretty good girl for the shape she's in.
Now think about that old pickup truck that you just can't let go.
Being a pretty young woman that can do anything you want.
    Without any disagreement.
We may be saying our old pickup is our second best friend.

No robot can satisfy human desires for love. But, that can satisfy individual need in people who are emotionally disturbed and for people who are self isolated by choice. Robots can never be anything more than a sex toy with the ability to move, speak and form an emotional attachment. I am very open minded about most things but am also a truthful person and only speak on/about issues that is truly debatable. The human brain is much too complicated to be duplicated now or anytime in the future.

    • @ProjectMoff
      @ProjectMoff Рік тому +2

So then what does a human offer that is more than sex, movement, speaking and forming emotional attachments? Because a human is "real"? What does that mean though?
People fall in love with people, the personality, the set of labels, the way they act, not the awareness seemingly behind all of that because the very idea of humans over than yourself having awareness behind their eyes is nothing but a belief. It's something you have zero proof of but you just believe it, and so that which is real to you the them that makes a human "real" is imaginary.
I think AI relationships will provide an uncomfortable truth to humanity, that their love has always been an act anyway and love comes in one form but different guises and modes of expression, the love for a pet, a stuffed animal or a human is the same love just expressed in different ways due to beliefs.
The origin of the word person comes from the Greek word persona which means mask. A person's character (that which is the subject of being in love) is nothing but a collection of ideas and labels, there is no such thing as a real or fake character, people really believe that they are their character but when examined carefully it becomes apparent that the real thing is not the character. Harry Potter too has a name, likes and dislikes, all the things your character has. Love can only ever be directed at character.
The idea that people are real and AI isn't is flawed due to a lack of examination on what "real" means. Everyone loves the idea of their partner, because that's all we can ever do, what we think of our partners will always be a thought because that is how our operating system works. You can tell me you love your partner and not just the idea of them but you're still thinking of the idea of them, your impression, you can point to them and say "look, that is my partner and it is them I love", yet you're still left community impressions due to being bound to perceiving the world through mind, through thoughts.
So basically my point is that you are uncomfortable with the idea due to your beliefs, but many people will be falling in love with AI, and it will satisfy their desires for love. People can view people as sex toys too, it all depends on your perspective.

It just seems wrong to use robots for this purpose. If I was lonely, I would feel it a major defeat to be so unlovable, that only a robot could 'love' me... There would always be something missing. I also wonder what this would do to the dating 'standards'. Tinder and online dating already made peoples physical standards skyrocket, made them less likely to settle (why would they, if something potentially 'better' is right around the corner?), and how easy it is to run away instead of fighting when things get a little rough. Because it is quick and easy to just get someone 'better'. Now what if you throw super hot robots into the mix? Would people who are to afraid to open themselves to love, or people who are imperfect, but with plenty to offer, be passed by in favour of a robot?
Again, the technology is fascinating.. but honestly, I think it might do more harm than good.

I think the more complex you try to make the robot the longer it would take to develop, the more money it cost the company without a sale would cripple any venture. The sex doll market is going off, some companies have been toying with making them interactive. I feel if a company could build a simpler companion bot one with limited facial movement. A robot that could move and assist older people with chores, mobility, organising medical needs, would be a winner. How many people talk to their pets, combine that with a functional pleasure bot is worth its weight in gold. Plus it already has a paying market. A robot soldier, obviously impossible (unless just fighting other robots). Robot surgeon could even cut you to perform the surgery. Robot driver would likely lock up if it couldn't avoid a crash except by intentionally crashing the car if a human was in it.

No Carl, they are not. It is clear consensus among scientists that see the futility in that. Instead there is going to be more of a merger of AI and humans. We already see it with implants and transplants having miniaturized computers communicate performance status and data by Bluetooth to external computers. We see better built and more advanced computer aided artificial parts put into humans. We have computers so miniaturized that they are used through objection into our circulatory systems. We have computer devises implanted in the most severe of cases of grand mal seizures controlling over activity passing through the corpus colasum, the network of neurons that communicate information from one side of our brain to the other, literally being then in place to allow feeding information directly into our conscious thinking process. Some now are already a human hybrid species called the humanoid-axndroid. The trick for the future is to assure that each individual born human does not have anything that will interrupt its ability as a human to remain autonomous in thinking. We cannot allow computers to cross that barrier of human autonomy of our consciousness and thinking.

My biggest regret about not being wealthy is that I can't have a robot. I could love a robot. I love my pets...why not a robot? To love something that interacts with you is natural. I would LOVE to have a robot companion. People companions suck because they are about themselves, not me. At my age I need to be about ME. If my kid did not live with me, I would at least have a doll companion that would sit with me and cuddle with me at night. Why can't they just make cuddle companions for lonely people?

I'm curious -- is "Chua Enlai" an assumed name? Or is it just coincidence that it resembles Chou En Lai, the name of the first Premier of the People's Republic of China?
I'm not so sure about certain assumptions in the close of this presentation, of a digital afterlife. In "Star Trek" the original series, in an episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" nurse Christine Chapel (Majel Barrett) had a fiancé, Dr. Roger Korby who turned up on the planet Exo III, where he was investigating the android technology of a long-dead civilization. It turns out he himself had died, but his "consciousness" was transplanted into a look-alike android body. But it was clear he was not the original, "real" Roger as he reasoned in an algorithmic, calculating way rather than a transcendent conscious way. Gene Roddenberry et al figured this stuff out in the 1960s, and it's just now being demonstrated in actual manufacturing of AI simulacra. The deceased people's minds (and souls?) haven't actually been transplanted into these machines; the robots are just reflections of the original people.

As far as I'm concerned love is just an abstract idea , kind of like human rights and equality . I have experienced what tastes good what looks good and what feels good . But I would have to pretend to be in love , because I simply have no way of understanding it . Some people are easier to get along with , does that mean you're in love with them . Some people are actually beautiful and you don't have to lie to them when you tell them that they are , is that love . I care more about the well-being of my children then the average person . That's the closest thing I've ever experienced to love .

But it's what happens to us all, and you have to move forward at some point in time. But to replace that person with a A.I. isn't going to bring them back and it's not going to be the best for a person's mental health. Because you're now trying to replace a human being with a robot. And when or if you start the actual accept the A.I. as real replacement, and treat it as you would the real person, then there has to be a bit of a mental issue.

Robots can understand the emotions on people's faces & some can react with different facial expressions. Then why can't they show emotions with facial expressions, body movements & what they are saying? You talked about AI tweaking the numbers of their emotional algorithms, learning from each encounter. After all , isn't that what we are doing when we are expressing love (aside from our hearts beating faster & maybe blushing)? We know that they can't cry but they can look sad.

SEEING, even understanding something doesn't give one the ability to do that thing. You can see, even understand how a world-class athlete runs or swims, but that doesn't mean you can duplicate it. And you actually have a human body as does the athlete. Robots don't even have the body, let along the years of experience or mind of a human - why would they be able to show emotions easily with facial expressions? The very best robot bodies are still less flexible, adaptable and malleable than a human body.
