    What is missing from this review is how much "fan service" there really is in this film. So many moments that real fans of the franchise can recognize as homages or references to the former movies. Like when they are chased in a flaming van, the music is exactly the same as the scene in Bad Boys where they are chased in the flaming vans with the ether barrels, the many shots that directly reference the older movies (some with Marcus instead of Mike) especially during fight scenes but even just using the orange sky filter for the Miami skyline, the Fletcher scene, etc...
    It just feels like it was made with love: for the fans, for the franchise, for the characters themselves.
    Oh, and it doesn't try to subvert expectations or basic morality.
    Good triumphs over evil, the once evil son is allowed redemption after he selflessly sacrifices himself to save others on multiple occasions, no ambiguous gray areas.

      @@Mement0_Mori8481 Yea Reggie was the punching bag side character who showed how badass he was when his wife and mother in law were in danger. The salute he gave at the end was really cool too. I have a feeling there will be a spin off movie with Will Smith's character's son and Reggie working together. Probably to free Will and Martin's characters from being held hostage. The main bad guy when on the phone with his first victim's wife said that the boss isn't too happy. I'm wondering who the boss is since they never mentioned him again let alone by name. It seemed like there was a lot of unfinished business.

      @@DarthAngel2 Home defense scene was my favorite part. It was so smooth. Similar to John Wick scenes. That must've been a pain to film to where the finally perfected it. Something like that scene could take weeks to even months to perfect. Especially the longer scenes before it cuts to a different camera. One mistake and it has to be filmed all over again.

    • @osmanyousif7849
      @osmanyousif7849 4 місяці тому

      Honestly, the biggest crime is the fact that Reggie was so underutilized. I personally think that he should’ve been given some focus. Basically make the movie a fathers-and-sons movie, where Marcus decides to teach Reggie about responsibility, only to get involved in the conflict, therefore is willing to help his father-in-law. Plus, it would give some time to flesh out Armando more when he wonders how does Reggie manage to handle such a life of family, especially considering how Mike and Marcus treat him. Only for Reggie to remind him that there’s more than that.

I mean, cut out some of the unnecessary subplots and twists, and actually have the duo pair up with Armando and Reggie. It actually would make more sense since this film was seemingly tackling more about family and it would be nice to see the duo bicker with their son/son-in-law with one of them arguing how they never given them a chance to prove themselves and the other one questioning why is their father so keen on not giving up on them.

    This movie gave me the only hope in 2024 that they can still make a straight action and comedic movie that kept me engaged and laughing. What kept this franchise going strong was the chemistry that Martin and Will shared over the years. They never changed or neither the directors intervened in their characters. The directors acknowledged that there was absolutely no need to intervene and that their roles would just flow naturally like they have been since the start.

    After the shit you went through, Drinker, I'm glad you enjoyed Bad Boys Ride or Die! This movie was FUN! I've been a fan since the first film! And they're all excellent! And this one, is no exception either! Will and Martin still have the same energy and comedy to their characters! One of the BEST duos in cinema! Also, one of the best things about the Bad Boys movies, is that, it isn't 100% required to watch the previous films to understand anything. You can literally jump right in, in any film and still have a blast! Back in 2020, the third film was one of the highest films of that year. And now this new one, is breaking records again! Something tell me, the boys will be back for a 5th film! Well, whenever it happens, I'll be here waiting! BAD BOYS! BAD BOYS! WHACHA GOIN DO!?
