  • As grandpa describes, this mini DV camcorder has lots of great features and isn't as big as those old antique ones that people carried on their shoulder back in the day.

    I had a Canon ZR45MC back in 2002 that used MiniDV. I had to go out and buy a Firewire PCI card for my computer just to offload the video and edit it. I was a little skater punk back in the early 2000s and used that camera for all our filming. I even found an off-brand wide-angle lens that worked with it. Eventually from dropping it one too many times a piece fell out when I ejected a tape, and from then on it would never recognize that a tape was inserted. RIP my dear friend.

    Hi! I have a small problem. The camera works, but on the display is shown that the camera is on safeguard or something like that (because the casette is propably set on „save“). When i open the camera to put in a casette, it wont open. Everything works fine, just the casette slot wont open.

      You can remove the battery and charger, leave it for 10 minutes so it resets, and power it back on and continue normal operation. If this doesn't work, your camera may have a bigger issue. I tried this with a camera I bought of ebay, and I'm relieved to say it works.

    I have the JVC-GR-D370U I bought it brand new back in 2006 and had no issues filming 1000 and more hours from it. Still has the original battery and i bought a extra battery at the time of purchase and used both about the same. The extra battery has weakened out a few years ago and the original still doing good with a slight difference.

      Excellent video in outdoor daylight and average in indoor with good lighting conditions. Sound is pretty good with low distortion in high sound level environment. But my newer 2013 JVC HD Enverio is my best choice. For the budget individuals.

    Nice video.
    I wonder if you can make a video about converting tapes from the JVC through Elgato video capture. I’m having an issue with hooking the camera to my laptop. Can’t seem to get the proper cables.
    Thanks for any help.

    I miss 4:3 and want to go back to using a minidv camcorder but I don't want to hate myself 10 years from now having all my footage in a dated format. Idk what to do. Widescreen just doesn't feel proper for home movies.

    • @ArtisticAutisticandAiling
      @ArtisticAutisticandAiling 4 роки тому

      Well you can buy a camcorder and if it has a 16:9 option (squeezing the widescreen image to the 4:3 size for whichever tapes you use) And you can restretch the video digitally to 16:9 on software. :) I personally use both 4:3 and 16:9 on my camcorders (one Vhs-C and 8mm). Depends on the mood and weather. :)

    • @ArtisticAutisticandAiling
      @ArtisticAutisticandAiling 4 роки тому

      Plus In addition I burn my tapes to VHS because I can and I will. :D Love living today and tomorrow with the technology I was born around. ^_^ Don't hate yourself because you want a camcorder that's 4:3, it's kind of cooler than a $4 camcorder app that's just a click on anyone's phone. :P
