Tbh you could also label this how to mix vocals for dynamic microphones lol it might help in search results as theres probably nothing else surprisingly
Mixing is really like cooking, some might like their food a bit spicy while others will add some hot sauce. I say this because I was intrigued by your EQ choice, instead of boosting you’re cutting (I suspect the mic choice is quite bright live or you add it back in your console?) In any case, great video, also enjoyed the Ableton one.
Absolutely! The cooking analogy is pretty spot on. In general I started mixing in a live setting and have always felt more comfortable doing cuts rather than boosts a lot of the time just for feedback safety, but if you can get there faster with boosts I say go for it! The audio you heard was directly from the mic, so yes it also was on the brighter side to start. It was a Beta 87a if you’re curious.
Hey Andrew! Thanks for you video I really learned a lot! Can you please tell us which si the correct way to send later this chain to the FOH so they can mix it on their mixer with their own gain/volume?
It looks like you use a F6 for high pass filter and another F6 for EQ, what’s the reason of using two instead of having them together in one? And will it make any difference if I have the pitch correction at the very beginning of the chain instead of last?
Can someone help me understand which is best for live singing to downloaded cover music … if using Logic pro with for example Audient ID 14 mkll as I have bought for recording but also use this set up for live events or if I am better off to buy for example the voice processor Boss VE-22 that I am looking into right now… Do I need that too? Is that a better choice for live events no matter if it is on social media from home or singing on the street? Thanks for explain good pros and cons…🎉
I have a question regarding waves tune real-time. I think I discovered an undocumented feature that isn’t getting talked about. If you right click the LINK button, you’ll see a LEARN option. Do you have any idea what that does? It does actually seem to improve pitch correction, and my guess is that waves tune is analyzing the singers pitchyness. Thanks 🎉
I’m fairly certain the learn function is related to being able to assign a button to a midi controller. As in you could have it “learn” which midi note is assigned to that button to be able to more quickly control the plugin
@@andrewlepard i have been thinking it was some learning mode for the plugin to analyze a voice. But providing a remote control option would be awesome too👍
The DAW I'm mixing in is Logic Pro X, but you could do this in any DAW. I intentionally only used Waves plugins though so that if you use SuperRack in a live setting you can use this specific chain of plugins.
What is one of the most common scenarios where live music is played in America? In the church. Multiple services in every church, multiple churches in every town, and they’re happening every single week. Who is most likely to have the budget for a nice live mixing console? Churches. Who is most likely to be looking up live vocal mixing techniques? Lay people or hobbyists recruited by the church.
Can you do a video on getting the best vocal reverb and delay setting for live worship?
I made one, go check it out! - ua-cam.com/video/IJR__vMX824/v-deo.html
@@andrewlepard Thank you!
@@andrewlepard hai.. can i get your preset with studio one for vocal and band ?
And make one for live satan worship. Shout out to bohemian grove and Moloch

i agree since watching this video, i actually use his lay out and settings as my baseline now when recording
I don't speak English, but this is one of the videos I've understood the most regarding production. Everything is very clear, thank you very much!
THE VIDEO IS THE BETTER VIDEO ABOUT MIX IN LIVE , I LOVE IT , I DONT SPEAK IN ENGLISH BUT YOUR WORK IS SO GOOD
Really good for recording at home with no booth

thank you sir!
For low latency clean vocals used a combination of Waves W43 and Waves WNS
X vox pro has zero latency and is the best plugin ive found so far for vocals. All in one plugin
Can you also show the effects used and setups (reverb, etc..)? Thnx
This is GOLD, bro 👍🏾👍🏾
Great video Andrew Is Rvox good for feed back in a boothless studio.

Can i do this in Ableton live? So that when i stream this takes places?
This sounds really good. This is a super helpful video! Can you do more of these mixing in a daw? This is really helpful
Hi, can we have the stems for this song? thanks

I have a question. What about the effects, in which step you add it? Thanks,
Remove background noises before compressors better

Three compressors, not live tips either
Excellent! Do you sell this cover session?
Why is everysingle video about compression about christian rock? Lol does real rock not use compression or something?
It's American, that's all they play lol 😆
Because christian music is ‘real’ music.

Been listening to Christian rock for over 40 years and hearing songs about the goodness of God on UA-cam is fantastic ❤🎉
The results dont sound great lol
Would be awesome if the example wasn't religious music... ugh
Sorry… that’s really sad… we make this makeup 💄 for all tracks and it sounds same over compressed and boring…
