Glad you put this video out. I received my megalithics yesterday and immediately went with a dual stage foam after feeling how soft the stocks are. These tires did amazingly out here on the Arkansas rocks. Zero disappointment, even with the beginning of the run being in muddy conditions.
I got some megaliths, with soft 3D printed inserts there is very little compliance, they run small to me and got a tear in one sidewall I really wanted to like them but I’m putting on a set of tusks on for my comp instead
"As if HR Giger drew a tusk'' sums it up perfectly! I was trying to explain to a buddy today how the Megs (is that what we're calling them?) look like a photo of a tusk and rupture mashed together in one of those hallucinogenic photo app things...
We should call them a Rusk, they did great though. Sadly I wont be buying any unless they become very cheap over here in England. Another great video though Mr CC. Keep up the great work
Well I comped with these and placed well enough to go onto the finals but I’m seriously considering the Tusks, I’ve got a set and the truck seemed to climb better in certain cases but worse in others I’ll have to put the same exact set of inserts in and test one more time
I have a biomech inspired sleeve. My tattoo artist also told me about Beksinksi, who has some wild art albeit with less phallic imagery 😂. Also your wrist snaps created an image of you flailing your hands around at a poetry reading instead of snapping your fingers in approval. Surprisingly similar sound in the audio 😬
Well I’m running these in a comp tomorrow with some very squishy 3D inserts , the truck seems to be able to climb anything witu this set up so let’s see
Brother quick question need your “HELP” 💀 Brother which JConceps Tires and foams or Silicone Inserts u reccomend me ??? Im curretly looking at The Tusks, Megalithics, and the Ruptures Its for a stock Ascent Fusion for best performance i just have Aluminum Injora Beadlocks i also have a pair of Injora Green inserts Your help is wonderful i got the Comp pins u told me to get with the Green injora inserts as well but for a different setup on my fusion
You can't go wrong with any of those JConcepts offerings. They're all top performers. There really isn't a silicone insert out there that fits any of them without some tweaking-- you can shim the Injora greens (with a disc of fridge liner) for pretty good fitment in the Tusks and Megs, but nothing silicone is going to fill out the Rupture. They're kind of a size all their own, so you're either going to need to run the stock foam, build up a dual stage, or get tire-specific 3D printed inserts.
@@CrawlerCanyon all thou the stock foams should be fun u think the stock foams with the megalithics will do good on my injora aluminum beadlocks on my ascent fusion its a pretty light rig i should have any issues and u reccomend i vent my tires or just leave them stock?? Then im gonna run the same lines on other setups like u do that should be fun 🤣💀
Used to. Don't anymore. I've had like... one screw fall out of the back, and one or two fall out of an SLW, but never had one of the screws even loosen from the front ring. Beadlock screws are so small, threadlock is basically like gluing them in.
I’d love to see a comparison of these vs the Tusks both with the Squid’n’serts. I’m pretty he’s making some custom sized ones for these ones. You do much better side by side comparisons on tires and inserts than I see on other channels.
I tested these on loan from a channel member, so they're long gone. I'll pick up a set for myself if they ever come back in stock. I have a set of YZZR inserts specifically for them already waiting on the bench.
@@CrawlerCanyon well, I guess I’m interested to see your assessment of the YZZR. I’ve tried them along with many others and find them to be the most over hyped insert out there. The material breaks down with wear and doesn’t bounce back like the Squid’n’serts or the Antifoams so the value is a bit lost in the longevity in my opinion. Would still love to see a Squid comparison. Even to the YZZR.
They're both JConcepts green, so they're both great. The Megalithic is the Class 2 answer to the Rupture, which honestly just doesn't fit on a lot of rigs. Overall, I still prefer the Tusk over the Megalithic. I can't think of an application where I would swap one for the other-- and that applies to Tusks, Ruptures, and Megalithics.
@@brianmorrison2846 is it just a visual thing ? i have seen no noticeable difference and most tires do feather out the corners eventually to have a slightly more round profile from use. These look less curved then a rup it looks like. Foam choice can also affect shape somewhat. just curious is all.
A 4 syllable tire name is a lot. Meg-a-lith-ic - who has time for that? 2 syllable names are more fitting: Tuskptures? Ruptrusk?(awkward, yes) Tuskers? Rusk? RUSK! Hey one syllable!
okay.. so... compare this/some/all jconcepts to those you tested in your Existential Crisis...ing - Join me in a fun spiral video? Would like to see how those stack up now that you have a rating system... thoughts on what would win?
I feel like we have to limit that conversation to Class 2-- tires between 4.19 and 4.75 inches. I think of the offerings, the Megalithic has to most forward drive of them all, but has an overall traction profile (as least on the included inserts) that I would classify as "erratic." Without changing the inserts, I give the narrowest edge to the Tusk. I think with the proper inserts, the Megalithic might be the most capable Class 2 JConcepts makes. But the Tusk remains my favorite. So for Class 2: Tusk > Megalithic > Hold > Hunk > Scorpio > Landmine Interestingly, in Class 1 I put the Landmines solidly in 3rd, very closely behind the Bounty Hunter and Tusk.
@@CrawlerCanyon thank you for the response. I'm still a noob so I don't even know diff between the classes and those that are used in comps. But truly found your Existential Crisis video to be great. What would you recommend as the optimal width beadlock wheel for these tires.
They seem to do really well on the 24mm inner rings. Keeps the sidewalls pretty flat.
We've been calling them Rusks 😂
I'd like to see a comparison between this and the Pro-Line Trencher Predator.
Do you not use any thread lock on the screws when you assemble the beadlocks?
