Your definitely an inspiration, I still have my lude sitting on jackstands after 6years that I was supposed to do the timing belt. But never did . Gonna get this shit done !
Mad respect. Tomorrow I start tearing mine down again. Dropped a valve or had a clearance issue destroyed a b16 head. I do have out in the building though a h22a I’ll be doing this winter. These videos are help man
A friend hooked me up with it but you can find them on eBay if you want a hard copy. Just look up “Honda prelude Service manual” But there are also websites that have the pdf version available if you don’t want the physical book
I'm only assuming that they are pre gapped because I was watching Houston Speed Freak and LVI Garage's video and they didn't gap them either. I lined them up with my old o rings and they seemed to be the same size
nah, I didn't think it was necessary because my cylinder walls looked smooth and consistent. They also had little resistance when running my finger nail along the walls. If you have deep scrateches, you'll want to hone or resleeve
Hell yeah bro! I’m glad to hear you decided to tackle some jobs and save yourself some money :D and trust me bro, it’s a def a struggle on my end too 😂😂😂
Great progress dude as mentioned in other comments I can agree a balance shaft delete would be a good addition As for my personal experience with my old Prelude build, is that I couldn't feel a difference with not having balance shafts in there in terms of engine harmonics, as they're put in the first place to stop vibrations during low speed cruising and idling. With that being said performance wise it's less rotational mass overall, so along with that new flywheel you will feel a pretty nice bump up in both acceleration and how to car "free revs" faster overall. The new oil pump is perfect for the balance shaft kit as you'll need to plug those holes with the provided hardware in the kit (where balance shaft(s) used to go). And what better candidate for ease of install than a brand new clean oil pump! I look forward to your future videos, and you really make me miss my Prelude. Keep up the grind, bro!
Thanks for the insight bro, your comment especially makes me want to install the balance shaft delete kit. I’ll have to sleep on that one 😂😂😂 And yeah bro, I’ve thought about getting rid of the Lude🏎 but I just can’t do it
Also, I don't think you're suppose to lube the backside of the bearings at all. Only the inside part where they meet the mains and rod journals. Otherwise, it can spun them bearings if I'm not mistaken.
Bro did you check the block for cracks and making sure it doesn’t need any machining. Especially where the pistons sometimes you need to cut inside depending on wear!
I think your going to need to spin your rings.... @ 7:40 there's a diagram. looks like you have them exactly where there not supposed to be. you even point to exactly where the arrows go for "DO NOT positoin any ring gap at piston thrust surfaces" anyways keep up the work.. been thinking about doing the same on my 2k w/250k plus and has terrible blow by
🤯🤯🤯 I think you’re right. Looking at a clock, the top ring should be between 7/8, second ring should be between 10/11 and the oil rings should be by 4/5, right?
Damn, nice bro. I have my JDM H22A in my '94 Accord since 2009 and it's still running strong no issues whatsoever. Might have to pull it out to re-ring and maybe run some JDM Type S 11:1 CR pistons. then do the balancer shaft delete to remove some weights, and replace all gasket. We'll see. Want to go K24A2 though. The two top rings are known as compression rings while the bottom is the oil control ring. :) Good job BTW.
the H22 has FRM coating on the cylinder walls, they are not removable parts. The problem is that it is harder material than the piston rings and that's why they wear up faster. a Local machining shop could install aftermarket sleeves on top of those coated cylinders, but it is expensive. I think the cheapest would be to get F22/F23 block and do frankenstein build with H22 head.
Yeah… This is the reason why I changed to F20b after I tore apart my H22. Wasn’t sure how long a cheap rebuild would last. These things are expensive! F20b really doesn’t feel much slower really…
@@TorbCraft f20b has the same power output as usdm h22, just a bit less torque I think. I live in Finland and we have the eudm h22's here that have only 185hp
@@yong7801 thanks bro! I didn’t plan on messing with the head but I found a few more broken valve stem seals and so ima have to replace all of them to be safe 😩
You're going to get chewed up in the comments for not checking the clearance. Don't ask me how i know 😂😂😂. I replaced my bearing by dropping the oil pan and sliding them on. No clearance check needed 😂😂

Sorry about your engine.. I wonder if the rings got damaged and if the cylinder walls will need to be rehoned
Thanks! The cylinder walls felt fine, I just assume that piston rings need to be changed since the car is well over 20 years old :D
Reson for rebuild? did you have a lot of blowby Is that why your changing the rings
Talk about motivating. Keep up the good work, you got this.

Makes sense, let’s hope it’s not an issue 😆
You have to check the clearances between the crank and the bearing same with the pistons caps
I’ll look into that, thanks bro!

Double check all bearings and make sure the oil port holes are in the correct place
If you put assembly lube under the bearings, I'd disassemble it. That needs to be a clean and dry surface.
