I owned a '70 440 six pack 4speed GTX with the same air grabber fresh air . 2nd & 3rd gear shifts @ 6,000 rpm....brutal for the day . Most Hemi owners I would believe, would be pretty surprised at how the 440 and tripower setup ran. That Hemi Roadrunner is absolutely gorgeous and reminded me of my own vehicle

Nick has his doctorate in Mopar.... an incredible wealth of knowledge!!! Just like my now deceased friends...i mention to honour them...Rejon and Real Phaneauf. 2 brothers that died far too young but their 69 340 Dart and 70 6 pack 440 Challenger were always appreciated in our little Canadian town in the 70s!

Thing is some people have been at it just as long as you have Nick.
But they do not have the passion for it as much as you do.
Its when we take pride in something that we apply good skill
and get it done right like what you do at your shop.

When we were young a guy in the neighborhood worked for a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership in a nearby town, and he ordered the 1970 Road Runner decked out like that one, complete with the air grabber and we always stopped what were were doing and stared as that car drove by..still amazing, and one of the nicest vehicles I have ever seen, and that 1 at your place is a beauty! Glad to see you back on the Challenger too!

Ill never forget the first time I saw an Orange Super Bee or Road Runner, I was on my Bicycle up the street and saw my friends neighbor go by in one with stock wheels, I didn’t like it with skinny tires and hub caps, but the next day he went by it was jacked up with Cragers and wide tires. Then it was cool 😎 Jude Jordon

I remember them all when new when I was in high school. I opted for the Z/28's. In '74 I drove a 68 Z/28 to College, a 71 in '75, then new ones in 77, 78 and 80, then a 1970 Z28 in '81 which I still own today. All were 4 speeds. My fav Mopar is the 70 Challenger and Cuda without the rear spoiler.

The small stuff and being detail oriented, is what separates the good from bad and Nick definitely brings the goods. I've been around Chrysler products since owning my first car, which was a 68 charger and the beginning of my Mopar addiction. But don't know all of the details like he does, and is really good at it. Kinda like Mark Worman of GYC, but without the freakiness LOL. Although it's not what I've done for a living, and is more of a hobby. My third Mopar was a 70 RR, but it was just a bare bones 383 & 727 and unfortunately not a hemi car. Definitely the working man's machine back in its day though, and still cool

@@NicksGarage This sure looks like my old buddies RR. 1970 Hemi 4 spd 4:10 geared hemi orange hdtp. which there were only 75 made and i hear about 30 were 4spds. He got it for a Graduation gift from his dad in 70' and drove it from Toronto to McKenzie BC and last time i saw the car was in Prince George BC but i heard the car made it back out east.. He had a wiring fire in the engine compartment and had a hard time finding the HEMI insignia with the turn signals on the hood. Do you know if this is a Canadian Import car as i did some research as it looks like there were only 3 Hemi orange cars made from what i gather. It would sure be a coincidence. Does your customer know the history of the car?

Sob......People never tired of seeing the air grabber come up and it did make a difference, especially on cooler days. I remember looking down the nose of it and it was a thrill that I never tired of. That miserable Nova was pumping oil at 30,000.....live and learn. Your Kowalski project is looking prime......whadda mean? Over budget....there is no budget on a dream. Keep the Faith, Nick.

Hi Nick I think this Road runner is one i owned and restored in appx 2006. If the vin is 184450 this was my car. It was originally a 383 ,B5 blue .. I put the Vitamin C on it. I did ALL the work, Paint, Interior and I built the Hemi.. It is a 472 not a 426. I stroked it.. It has 12to 1 compression with Diamond pistons and a Callies crank.. Took me 2 years to restore it.. Thanks for the videos Nick!!!

Dr. Nick; where Chiltons goes if they have a question about originality! A few of my mechanic friends are the same way, they always got the mysterious fixes other garages couldn't repair. Another thing customers did was come to them initially, they'd give them a fair price to do the job properly, but they'd go elsewhere to save a few bucks. The other garage would sometimes screw up the job,and guess who they'd bring the car back to, to fix their screw up. So instead of just paying for the job to be done right in the first place, now they're paying extra to get it done right! You know, ya know? That bird is beautiful, but given a little t.l.c. from the master, and she'll be the Belle of the ball, thanks to Nick and Company. Quality and integrity. Thanks again guys! Great luck at the track!!!▪☆☆☆▪

Not very many across the u.s. That I would consider a total , complete restoration expert on vintage muscle cars , particularly mopars .. But NICKY , you are that guy that can do it all on em . There is a lot to be said about that . When I do find a 1972 roadrunner , or a cuda I want FULLY , and meticulously restored to original concours condition , I'm shipping it to you , and when it's done im spending a week hangin around visiting , maybe even wrenching a bit on cars . I hate messin with new cars . But you gimme a vintage 60s - early 70s MOPAR . Then I don't mind working on them , it's a pleasure and fun to do . Their more predictable to analyze and repair . Thanks for another great vid Nicky . I had a 70 roadrunner with a 383 in it , 4 speed . I blew that motor and put a 440 in it . Wish I had that car back now , in limelight green .

Love the colors that orange on the exterior the interior is perfect pistol grip is a must then the Power plant well what can you say vacuum operated air intake must produce a few extra ponies . The only thing I would change is tires. Good luck getting rubber that you can launch off the line and is good for extended high speed use.

The 440 Six-Pack really helped horsepower. The 2 bbl flow rating is done at a different vacuum level than 4 bbl flow ratings, so they can't be directly compared. The 2 bbl carbs are rated at 500 cfm, front and rear and 350 cfm for the center carb. Using 4 bbl vacuum flow rating, all three carbs together work out to about 950 - 960 cfm. That's still a lot more than the Carter 4 bbl on the 440 Magnum. The 6-Pack intake and carbs are truly worth 40 hp over the 4 bbl carb. That's as good as it gets with the modern Edelbrock Performer RPM with an 850 carb and the 6-Pack was 50 years ago. Holley originally designed the 2 bbl carbs for the 1967 Corvette 427 tri-power engine for increased horsepower over the 1966 Corvette 427 855 4 bbl carb.

I'm the same way. Everything has got to work or it'll just irk me. BTW, one of my cars was a 70 satellite 318 B5 with custom welded backset keystone rims, to fit snug in the wheel wells. Sad day that I had to sell it.

Another race I had was in 1975 between my 1970 383 RR and aDemon 360
It was almost a dead heat but he got me by a quarter of a length, that was the first time I had heard of a 360- it had some pep to it!

    Giasou Nikola,
Here I am in downtown town Saigon, pouring rain miserable wet humid day what better than watching Nick's Garage on the 11 th floor besides the pool bar at AU LAG LEGEND HOTEL, the view is spectacular whilst having a Vietnamese Milk Coffee.
A 1970 Hemi Roadrunner 4 speed doesn't get better than that truly doesn't.
Kowalski looking awesome coming along nicely.
    Hlias from Australia

Ahh, I got my Monday morning video from Nicks Garage. Love that Plymouth Hemi, was hoping for a nice big smokey burnout. I'll never figure out the way of the cheap minded folks who take a rare Chrysler product to a friend of a friend not once, but twice. Still not working right, and they watch your videos, now finally you have it to fix correctly (after you make a diagnosis of what the other guy did wrong) at my Dad's electric motor business he called these jobs basket cases. Haha. If I still had one of the 60's Chrysler products from my teenage years, I'd gladly make the trip from Arkansas to Canada and have the job done right the first time with Nick. Till next Monday, have a great week.

Looks like the Roadrunner that Shelley Long drove in the movie Brewster McCloud. Mopar fans that haven't watched that movie should watch that movie lots of good scenes with that car!

    NICK
I'm a very big car guy. I owned a 1959 Chevy and two 1964 chevys before I was ol enough to have driveer permit. I was born in 1959 I remember when the 1966 challenger came out.
My question is back then you could hear a mopar from a mile away and could tell it was a mopar by the sound of them. They no longer have that uneke sound. Is it me or did they change the way they ran the exhaust did they change mufflers I don't know what they change. I was not a mopar kid nothing sounded better than a mid 70s mopar paying off. Thanks NICK.

You mean Charger for 1966. Challenger came out in 1970. The mopars had good flowing exhausts back then. Especially the Hemis they incorporated industry firsts such as H pipes. Cast iron header style exhaust manifolds. And what they called Hemi Mufflers which flowed and sounded great! However E body Hemis had more restrictions.

Road Runner is perfect! What a car. My son is a ford guy. To bad for him😅 but he did say a 70 RR would be his choice if he had a Mopar. We love you Nick down here in Cali
