Having come to Western Australia in 79-80, from UK, it has always occurred to me that drivers from UK (emergency vehicle and general public) have had to deal with traffic and narrow gaps for years and that's why, UK or x-pat UK drivers tend to be better than those of Australia..NOT a complaint..simply an observation.
UK emergency vehicles should stop using these BS US car alarm sirens as primary tones. 2 tones are way more effective. Especially the Fed sig one at 5:41
2:30 - What the? The driver could at least drive forward or move to the side more... Do you have rumbler sirens in the UK? The next compilation video should be that or Crazy horn usage of a fire truck... What's your opinion?
7:45 is everything a police car should be. A couple blitzers on the side to cover intersections, simple half-half lightbar, reasonable volume 2-tone siren, and fast but predictable driving.
At 4:34 The two fire trucks sound just like ours in America. I thought Britain did away with the Hi Lo/ Two Tones sirens. It sounds like they still use them along with the Americanized ones. Is this true?
Sorry for the late reply, but you are correct since the first 2 really sounded identical to the Whelen Cencom Gold and the last one like the Whelen 295HFSC9 used by various FD's in America especially Boston EMS. Greetings from The Netherlands

There doesn't seem to be standardization across the services, many of these are so similar I'm still not sure if I can pick an ambulance over a police vehicle some of the time. Why don't we have more dramatically different sirens for each service? Excellent video btw, I wasn't criticizing your efforts .
Well this video is all about one siren tone; the hi-lo. Whereas usually you'd hear lots of different tones on lots of different types of siren. Thank you :)
It's not the video I find issue with, I think it's excellent that you took the time to produce it. I just think we (the UK) should introduce sirens which are dramatically different for each service so that it's easier to identify each one. Although it's not a massive issue, especially with everything else going on right now.
Because during a public order situation they need a show of force and numbers that's why they have three vans to carry lots of officers in convoy to get to disorder. Not sure why they always have a more modern van in the middle though.
I haven't caught TSG enough times to do a compilation for just TSU. But I have caught plenty of public order vans, some of which are TSG - many look just like TSG, or other force equivalence. Will try and work on a public order van compilation today ;)
Well TSG vans are public order vans, but TSG = Territorial Support Group and is a specialist unit which uses public order vans to carry officers and equipment to serious public disorder, and to perform raids, searches and other operational requirements. Then there's the regular public order vans, which are patrol vans with similar public disorder gear and protection but usually perform regular policing duties.

Those are called Public Order vans. Those 'fences' are screens that slide down over the windscreen to defend against stuff being thrown.
