2004 Tom Meents is my favorite of all time. No amount of backflips or two wheel stunts are cooler to me than just wrecking everything in sight, literally driving the truck into the ground and filling the stadium with smoke. It’s when maximum destruction truly lived up to the name.
The best Tom Meents runs were always the ones where he was fighting a broken truck and absolutely ran it into the ground as a result, and 2004 epitomizes that.
Honestly, I would’ve put Avenger at World Finals 4 a bit higher. It paved the way for the big air we see in freestyle today, and made Jim a name on the caliber of Tom Meents and Dennis Anderson
I really miss when FELD cared about Monster Jam. Tom Meents destroying everything on the track and fighting a broken truck is what Monster Jam is supposed to be, and it was deemed safe back then, so it should be now. Maybe one day they won't be scared to turn it back into what we're missing.
FELD took over in late September 2008. It was solely the USHRA until PACE owned the rights from 1996-2000, SFX from 2000-2001, Clear Channel from 2002-2005, Live Nation from 2007-2008, and FELD 2008-Present.
@@theskicker8856 2008-2014 was still some of the best years. FELD did everything right and for some reason after 2014 they stopped letting broken trucks run as frequently (broken tie rods, sway bars, flat tires and roll cage damage was still allowed) and it got worse and worse and the scoring system went to hell and the Hotwheels contract went up and Spin Master started making the trucks. The trucks are still cool but Hotwheels made more accurate Max-D trucks minus the engine being in the rear. If you look at the shape of the spiked Max-D trucks and compare them to the real trucks, you'll see that the body shape is wrong. I think 2014 was the end of the Golden Era. 2014 was one of the wildest years and it had so much action and carnage. 2024 is the best modern year, but Monster Jam went from being "As Big as it Gets", to "As Big as FELD Lets it Be".
@@RDCNATION totally agree! I thought 2017 was the last great season, but I do think the crap hit the fan in 2019, fan judging got a lot worse, and the toys got worse. I kind of think Spin Master made the fan judging worse based off of how many Grave Diggers, Megalodons, etc, they make compared to indies.
Idk how Jim Koehler won at the world finals 4 freestyle. Lupe Soza's run in El Toro Loco was so much better. That save off the RV hit was so sick plus he hit the huge semi trailer stack.
Lupe only flipped off the camper and got stuck, didn’t even go through the trailer. Rest of the run was rather slow and boring. Jim had big air, momentum, and fought a broken truck.
I would say Linsey should be a bit higher, Lee should be a bit lower, and Tom in 2023 should be higher. I know the frontflip was cool but the entire run before it lacked any momentum, and one hit isn’t enough to put it too high up for me, which is also why I don’t think it should’ve won. Linsey had decent air and a great wow factor so I believe she could be a couple places higher. And Tom I just think had a lot of consistency and a more unique wow factor than others
Same honestly, also fun fact, that reverse move up the semi trailer was a reverse back flip attempt, Lyle said this on a interview at mini to start the next season, if there was a car in there it probably would have worked

100%, if he won that year he would've probably cracked top 5
Him or Ryan should have won
I agree, but his momentum was hurt from truck issues, so the judges may not have liked that.

Damon Bradshaw and monster energy got robbed at WF17. One of the best big air momentum runs in wf history
