To answer your question, most of Filipino count like Aiah.. most preschool teachers use their pinky to indicate #1 and so on.. but there are still some who use the pointing finger first.. and rarely with the thumb first (if we see a person count with thumb first, it indicate that he/she is a foreigner)

yeah! you start counting with your pinky finger first. for me its copying, kids always copy what the elders doing, they dont teach me that at school.

It's easy to count starting on pinky, because the thumb will hold the ring, middle, and index finger while you count starting on pinky finger

Yes we count starting the pinky finger. I have not seen any one here start with a thumb. It will be hard to raise the 4th and 5th pinky if the thumb is not holding them. Notice the thumb holds the other finger while she counts..
