Humour always does it for me..capturing what a movie was made for..to take us to another time line as this did..

What a great movie! They don't make those romantic comedies like they used to.

I love this movie!!! Jimmy is such a fool; how does he expect her NOT to fall in love with him..?? He takes her to his family's country home, shares his personal family history, pictures, memories, picnic in front of the roaring fireplace, shares his pyjamas - that probably smell like him - and slippers that are shaped after his feet, and leaves her in his old room full of his boyhood things looking at a portrait of him...!! Then he fixes her boo boo...!! I just don't understand how it happened really...☺️☺️ Albeit, I did find the portrait looking back at her undress device quite the unnecessary chauvinist peep show akin to a wink at all the mainly male audience of the time... I guess it was early days for feminism back then... Still their chemistry, acting, fast pace and coloquial dialogue makes it such a fun flick...

It depends what you view of feminism over history is really. The strong character of the film is Gloria who has all the angles. Remember her line viewing the women eating in the expensive restaurant "Seventy percent of all the money in America is in the hands of women". Gloria believed in women exploiting what they have to the best of their advantage to get on in the world. It is a lighthearted film that puts a humorous reflection on women's wiles and men's weaknesses.

A tragic end to this star I remember reading David Nivens book where he talks of the last time he saw Douglas at a cheap restaurant that had saw dust on the floor he had syphilis and couldn't stop his nose from running. A waitress had thrown him her phone number and Douglas was on his hands and knee's nose running like mad pawing for that card.

At the age of 90? This waitress seemed pretty desperate wanting to roger a syphilitic man with all the ensuing symptoms. Did she get her photograph in the paper saying I threw my card at I think that discusting old man was Douglas Fairbanks junior who was in my eatery and grabbing among this sawdust because he wanted me. how delusional can a Hollywood wannabe mattress get and how desperate she is for some attention the sleazier the better and the problem is that people are going to believe it and say oh my oh my he really did that.
They are still obsessing about That 70 years down the line.
I read both of David Niven's autobiographies bring on the empty Horses and the Moon's a balloon and there is absolutely no such story there besides he was a gentleman and would never write such a vulgar story.

@@Arabzene Nope! It is a deliberate witticism but only some people got it and appreciated it because the well known Hollywood casting couch is notorious. And women would do anything to get into the flicks like this particular contemptible pathetic specimen with her IQ and bust I believe to be of the same size _44. Today to get some attention she would be having wardrobe malfunctions all over the place. Cheers!
