In 1976 I was 18 we used to have kegger parties out there with my friends from Reno just below Lake Spaulding, walking the flumes from the road to the dam, two by tens, along the cliff was fun
Lots of little gems all along the Sierra's to the East, literally countless rivers and lakes along with hiking, river rafting, kayaking, camping, boating, etc. I also live in the Central valley, not much of a metro but nice location for visiting the mountains to the east and not much of a drive for the coast/oceans to the west. Love this damn state
You guys made me nervous in that weather! You gotta check the forecast lol! Nice rebound however with the August footage. Clearly, this was from last year (August), cause THIS year, the pools are completely packed (from what Ive read, as we've never been there). Beautiful footage.
Yeah, we were coming from Reno, where it was nice and sunny, and totally forgot to check the weather in the mountains before, lol. Yes, it was last year, and thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you so much! Glad that you like it. Off of I-80, exit onto Highway 20, and then turn onto forest road 18. There will be a small parking lot off to the right after a bridge. There is a short trail (~1/2 mile) heading upstream from the parking lot, which will take you to the pools. This should pull it up on google maps, 11681 Forest Rte 18, Nevada City, CA 95959.
What area of Emerald pools is this? I frequent the larger cliffs/pools at this spot where its a bit of a hike down, but ive never seen this part of it. How did you get to these pools?
We camp there as kids. You found it..thats old lava rock. Use be old dirt road on both side of bridge. What the old bridge is gone!!!! I need rent a car get up there. Water so cold there
There is nothing preventing you from taking them. You would need to keep a really close eye on them. For sure don't let them in the water if it has much speed.
Did you guys go August of last year? It’s not even August yet this year! We just visited the Emerald Pool last month in June, it was cool to see how high the water gets.
California's natural beauty just never stops amazing me, there's just always something new to find.

Is the cliff jumping spot up stream or down ?
Any ticks?
Thanks for posting. How do I get there? Is there a wilderness name or trail name?
Yep, you should be able to type emerald pools California into google maps and find it.
Great video guys of this amazing place. Thanks for sharing. What are the directions to get there? What trail you took after? Thanks

Hello! We parked right after the bridge and followed a trail from the parking lot up stream maybe a 1/4 mile. Thanks for watching!
Looks like bowman lake road off hwy 20, almost where 20 meets I-80. Is this it?
Yep, Bowman Lake road or Forrest Road 18.
How many feet is the pool
At the deepest point, I would say 20 feet.

Very cool! I would love to camp there another time.

Yes, it was August of last year. Glad you got to visit, it is definitely one of the coolest places in the area, in my opinion.
Did you guys hike up stream?
Yes, the pools are upstream from the parking area. From the main pool, we only went a little farther to explore a bit.
thinking of going this weekend. Would you say its safe to bring a dog?
Sure! The normal trail to the main pool is very easy and as long, as you keep them on a leash, you should not have any issues.
It’s always that empty?
Not sure. It wasn't very busy the two times we went as you could see. We went during the week, though.
