Tbf, I cracked a rib a few years ago, and sure the first week was painful But by the second week things were much better. The week after I set off on a 2 week motorcycle holiday in the alps, I just wore a girdle for support and everything went just fine. A cracked rib can be incredibly painful, but if you can avoid moving in certain ways, after a while, it's very manageable.
I've cracked a rib some years back playing footy I couldn't even sit properly for a couple of weeks and I made it worse by playing the next week so It wouldn't of been to comfortable for Oscar with the constant cornering and Ge force's put on him so he's got some tuffness about him
As soon as they started reporting about Oscar's injury I swear I could hear the faint creak of an Englishman on a ladder all the way here in Australia. I think that this post was definitely a calculated move on Oscar's side, a little bit of a suggestion that 'yes he does have the mental and physical toughness already to be mixing it with the 'big boys'. He served his apprenticeship last year and this year he is a legitimate F1 driver who should not necessarily be expected to play second fiddle to his team-mate. Because he isn't the biggest personality out there as flashy as some he could, driving results aside get a little lost in the background. Increasing his social media profile with posts like this is a little bit of a reminder of the bloke under the helmet of No. 81 as well.
Fellow Aussie here who has been a fan since the 80s… Oscar is definitely not going to be second fiddle with all that talent - his mental fortitude makes Lando look like the rookie
This aged well, Oscar going and showing Lando no mercy in Italy. Lando didn't help himself whining about how Oscar shouldn't have passed him, given deference to his status after he made mistakes that made him vulnerable.
Nothing more ruthless than a young Oscar, turning around to his excited Mum , on his first day of primary school at the gate, and saying “ Okay….You can go home now” At FIVE YEARS OF AGE!!!
I like Oscar a lot. I think he's hilarious, fun to watch, good natured. But i also know he thrives on competition and racing. This was absolutely a shot at Lando and McLaren and shows intent. Lando has shown that he doesn't do well with the mental game so Oscar probably knows that the smallest thing can feel like a splinter to Lando and his performance decreases. I think it is a statement of intent from Oscar. More power to him.
Lando folds up like a lawn chair whenever the pressure is applied. Oscar is used to crushing his competition. He's been doing it ever since he sat in a Kart. Lando dosen't intimidate him at all.
As far as I'm concerned, Oscar looks and acts the part of a serious, championship contending driver far moreso than Lando. He's quickly closing the gap on the track too. I wouldn't be surprised if by next year he's the clear top dog at McLaren.
Or maybe he just wanted to flex he got a win with an injury too lol. Or maybe hes saying he wants to run for president. Let’s jump to all kinds of conclusions while we’re here 😂😅
This also goes to show how good the people around Oscar is. No-one had any idea (maybe his team at best) but no leaks, no rumours, no suspicion he's carrying an injury. We see it all the time in sport, cousin/uncle/cleaner etc gets access to sensitive info and it's front page news.
Lando makes a rod for his own back. His comments about Lewis were made years ago. Rather than show hubris or at the very least simply be silent, he then effectively doubled down on it at silverstone. It’s fairly clear to see the Oscar has his number marked. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy
@RockSolitude the only thing I know about Colombia is that you should never spell it "colUmbia". They see it as an insult, which is understandable because I'd implode if a saw Australia spelt "awsrayliah"
Just keep the Oscar content coming hahaha, really not complaining, I love it and I am not even Australian tbh, it's pure admiration for how he is as a driver and how he carries himself on and off track.
How lmao? Lando is still performing and 2 races dont define a season. Comparing Riciardo's career at mclaren with Norris' is hilarious. He is still the lead driver and currently the overall faster one
@errikos9968 not at McLaren, compare Max and Danny first half of Max's 3rd season then compare Oscar and Lando in the first half of Oscar's 2nd season. You'll see what I mean
Piastri becoming the next Alain Prost is coming along quite nicely it seems. In fact, I feel like he could turn into a bit of a Kimi/Mika x Alonso/Schumacher type character. The iceman like Kimi and Mika, but with the ruthlessness and cunning of Alonso and Schumacher. Even further then that, I could even see him becoming the next villain on the grid to take the reigns from Alonso.
I never saw Oscar as the villain, because Alpine didn't use their driver academy for a number of years. They kept getting F1 free agents with experience. Like, Zhao was an Alpine driver academy driver, but he had to go else way to drive in F1. As far as I was concerned, Alpine were the villains the whole time.
It's not even the maddest story of driving injured that I've ever come across. Prior to the Sandown round of the Supercars Championship in 2021, Shane van Gisbergen crashed while on a training ride and broke his collarbone. He raced that weekend, and out of three races qualified on pole for two of them and swept all the wins, with the first one coming from 17th on the grid. Then afterwards it was revealed that he'd also been racing with cracked ribs! Then there was Mark Webber racing the final few races of the 2010 season with a broken shoulder. Although one of my favourite stories of this juncture isn't even from motorsport. On the first stage of the 2018 Tour de France, American cyclist Lawson Craddock crashed heavily, suffering lacerations and a hairline fracture in his scapula. He finished the stage and carried on, pledging to donate $100 for every stage that he finished towards the rebuilding of a velodrome that had been destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. He actually finished the race. Ok, he finished in last place as the race's 'Lanterne Rouge', but he finished it. And considering how tough the Tour de France is at the best of times, it is three weeks long after all, it was a pretty insane feat! He even managed to raise more than $250,000 for the velodrome rebuild!
Nice to see the support’Little Oscar’has outside of Australia. We can’t not love him as Aussies. WDC definitely in near future, like next year. Imagine. As Cam would say “Oh the humanity” 🤣
I’m so glad you’re talking about this. I thought it was a bit shady and calculated too. Oscar knows how to use the F1 press and fan base to his advantage- can’t wait to see what he does next. Watch out Lando and McLaren.
Just a great video all around. Also love that you brought up the whole Lando-hate rhetoric that we seem to be having this year. You've convinced me to be a Piastri fan, but I still respect Lando as a great driver and the amount of targeted aggression he's been getting the past couple of months has become egregious. But I really believe that Piastri is the man to do it and challenge Verstappen because, like you said, he's like Mika and doesn't let things get under his skin that much at all
Piastri is better than Norris in natural talent. Norris may have a bit of an edge in terms of managing tires but Piastri is catching at an insane pace in that regard. The end of this season as well as next year, there will be fireworks between these two. Piastris clear head (especially under pressure) will push him ahead of Norris.

I am officially now an Oscar fan after him winning the drivers championship by 6 points in Lamborghini agaisnt Alonso in Redbull! This was in my F1 Manager 2024 myteam career mode in the second season!
I don't know why, but the comparison to Mika (over Kimi) never registered, but after hearing you mention it, it totally resonates! There's a greater similarity there for sure.

very interesting this! tbh if this is part of a bit of powerplay and a mental game v his team mate and all others.. then I can only applaud the way he went about it, casually.. as a matter of factly.. only mentioning it after the fracture was healed.. that is the Oscar way. I LOVE that! somehow it resonates with me because I am exactly like that when life throws "stuff" at me..
Piastri is on the rise, and its all the more of a pleasant surprise as he is Lando's team mate and everyone was all about Lando. It's as if Oscar came and took Lando's lunch money and people only now are begging to see it

But i must remind us that it takes a extra super team effort to fully appreciate great talents. Zack my respects you and all of your crew are doing a fantastic job. Now Oscar you got to bring it home.
I agree, Piastri’s mental attitude, demeanour, and personality most closely resemble Häkkinen’s (who just happens to be my favourite driver of all time, which is probably why Piastri keeps growing on me, in spite of the fact that I really, really want Lando to be the next driver to become a world champion). And yes, mentioning his injury when he did was undoubtably calculated. I have no doubt that Mark Webber is enjoying himself greatly.
Lando really can't catch a break at the moment. F1 is definitely pushing this recency bias with the 'points in the last 6 races' posts. He has been on poor form lately which is good to criticise! But it seems when he proves the Lando Nowin-ers wrong, they are hell bent on finding something new to deny him of (like winning a championship). Guys chill, it's just cars going around in circles
It’s getting ridiculous isn’t it? If he hadn’t been punted off by max in Austria he’d have more points in the same period. The recency bias and hate storm he’s getting is going too far now

I’m so glad Alpine hadn’t locked Oscar in their team. If he stayed there we’d never have seen what he’s capable of
i’m australian! love your videos and your passion for piastri 😂
Same! These videos are are reminder for me to go to bed, or something to watch at breakfast time, love them
about the lando shimsham , as the goat said " they should hire a better per person "
Williams just need a back-up 3rd driver who also had appendicitis... They can then be the append-keteers..
Sorry..
Ok bye
No no. It's OK. You are safe here.
The only one i would think could do this aswell is Kimi, they are quite similar in that sense of "not caring" just racing and being honest
