Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced plans to launch Toyota's Camry in August. The vehicle will run on 100 percent ethanol, offering an environmentally friendly alternative. Additionally, it will generate 40 percent electricity, showcasing a promising step towards sustainable transportation.

I completely agree Sir, If you have started mixing Ethanol then why petrol prices are still not coming down. You have vehicles running on different fuel, but common still finds hard to even afford a two wheeler. If you can improve the city limit roads it will decrease traffic and decrease pollution and petrol consumption. Now you are forcing people to leave get rid of there old vehicles. But at the same time you have no plans how will they buy a new vehicle
Your point is right. But imagine if you add 1kg suger in a pond and then expect that the whole water inside the pond will become sweet, isn't it impossible.
The scale at which these flex cars are used matters, it's gona take atleast a decade ....
@@anirbanpaul7751 yes I completely agree but that decade time is something we do not have and by the time progresses there would be new technology coming in which will keep up evolving and never setup something firm. He initially pushed for EV, before it was stable in market he said flex engine, he will keep on coming with new things but people who are the majority and part of middle class cannot keep on switching

I always liked Mr.Gadkari , he is a doer and not a power mongering talker . It would be great to have Ethanol operated ( mixed with Petrol or 100% Ethanol I suppose ) fuel for India. My congratulation to him for a great effort for growth of India. The Egoist power mongering politicians should make way for such doers
Ethanol blending has already been implemented but that did not slash down the prices.

A 5% blend may not affect the engines, but 10% or more mix could create problems.
The increase in the amount of ethanol could result in damage to some plastic, rubber and aluminium components. And this could affect the durability of fuel pipes, injectors and hoses. Also Ethanol is bad for cold-starting, because it doesn't burn as quickly as gasoline. (It has a higher octane, if you're interested.) Pure ethanol would be useless as fuel in the winter months. So simply put the engines won't last longer also car manufacturers would raise car price as they need some extra R&D on this.
Customer will always be in loss
Thats why ethanol based cars are coming. But people won't sell their cars just to buy ethanol based cars. One solution could be converting old cars to ethanol based cars. Which already happens in some countries.
Just to get rid of dependency on the guys who control the crude supply and get dependent on the guys who control the lithium supply.. 🤦🤦 kaise kaise log h yaar ghatiya.
This is just a start and unless we start something we can never reach to the optimum level of efficiency! Lets see how it progresses.
When you say cars running on ethanol it means the cars which utilizes a blend of fuel which has atleast 60% ethanol, you also call them cars running on flex fuel. In practical use there are vehicles which has 85% ethanol in their blended fuel.
These kind of cars are running for a while in international markets and they last for long if not better then comparable to petrol cars and that too without increasing the running costs significantly.
In terms of spending on R&D, it's easy to convert an existing petrol car to ethanol as you primarily require an added sensor which will aid in tweaking the air and fuel mix after detecting the used blend as fuel, also the flex fuel is being used for decades now in many markets. Given it's not a new technology and doesn't require a lot of additional parts, the flex fuel vehicles can only be marginally expensive compared to usual petrol ones.
On top of that government has already said that they'll continue to sell E10 petrol along with higher blended ethanol flex fuel to aid the smooth transition.
Even if the upfront cost is high subsequent cost for buying fuel will subside the high cost

Introduction of ethanol based fuel drove up inflation in other agricultural products because farmers stopped producing other food products. Sugar prices will directly go up first. Ethanol has lot of water and will affect vehicle in long run. Will appreciate the intention, but do study impact before large scale implementation. Brazil is a clear case study and that too india is completely different. We have too much population.

What if in particular year of production of sugarcanes crashes
Rs. 15 ethanol + Rs. 80 excise duty + Rs. 10(central tax) + Rs. 10(state tax) = Rs. 115 petrol price.

It is possible to to increase the power of engines by super charging. This was implimented in Germany during the world war-2. It needs only pure water but not sugar cane or any thing else.

Sugarcane waste is used to make papers, and further waste (mali) is used as a fertilizer ( my family purchases such mali from the factory)
Sugarcane is another kalpavrikha nothing goes waste. But it needs more water and fertilizers that's the only drawback.

First thing is the value of electric vehicles is more expensive than petrol as well as diesel vehicles. Daily consumption is less than petrol vehicles, accepted. But life of Battery is 3 to 5 yrs. On replacement with new new Battery you have to pay a very big amt of money. And pre-owned electric vehicles doesn't not have any resale value.

I have an EV vehicle, the battery replacement is a scam. The new battery cost is 80 thousand. Almost equal to new EV. And disposing old battery is bad for environment. This is for 2 wheeler. For 4 wheeler it will be more expensive

See what your Himalayan expressway doing to Himachal in the rains right now. 2. Why are the taxes on EV so high that an owner spends 1.5 times than on ICE engines and it’s practically impossible to own an EV unless you own the car for 10 years. 3. With 4 emission norm changes in the last 5 years how do you expect the auto industry to match up?
