Great view of the leg room with economy comfort, sorry premium seat at 6:08 !!! I am thinking about flying with Hawaiian airlines in economy comfort earlier next year from Los Angeles !! 👍👍✈️💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Happy New Year, Scott. Thanks for somehow finding enough angles to review a otherwise dreary and predictable back-of-the-bus experience. Keep it going!
Hi Scott, thank you for another amazing video and for all of them as well. I love to watch you every week, very happy Christmas to you and your family. Also massive thank you to all of your patrons for helping you in 2019. Guys great job. Greetings from Poland
Flew Hawaiian Airlines in 2011 from Phoenix to Honolulu. Excellent flight in economy. Great food, comfy seats and extremely good service on board. Love this video!!!
I was interested in the video as you were leaving the plane, it always amazes me just how much rubbish people throw on the floor as if it magically just goes away. Do they do it at home, I hope not.
Fantastic Trip Report Scott!!! Every video of yours have been awesome throughout the year and I wish you happy holidays and a happy new year!!! 2020 here we come!!! :D
I think those ashtrays have been around in most aircrafts - they aren't there to encourage people to smoke; instead they are there for the crew to safely dispose ignited cigarettes, in case of a unruly passenger, without setting the bin on fire.
I prefer girth tbh! But as you know, not all inches are created equal. If they're too generous with width, they'd have to delete a whole column (as opposed to a single row). I have never flown 10 across and hope I never have to!
It's not premium economy, the airline doesn't even call it that instead always calling it extra comfort. The narrow seats are the give away, a quality premium economy class would have at least one seat less seat in each row as well as being separated from economy comfort/plus.
Hey Scott, HA is not the only American carrier to serve free meals in coach. American and Delta both serve free meals on Transcons and select other long haul domestic routes.
I wish there is another airline coming to Am. Samoa other than the Hawaiian airline. The fare is so expensive, about 1,800 round trip tickets for one person. Well, only if you pay way ahead of time it will come down a little above 1,000.
If you fly Transcontinental with Delta (Boston to Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle, same thing from NY and other cities) you also get a free meal in economy.
My experience flying HA's premium economy to SFO sucked so bad that I cancelled my PE return trip down and got an economy seat instead. I had legroom but I couldn't recline so I had to sit straight up for 4.5 hours. Stiff neck and body, not worth the extra money for the 'extra comfort'. Next time I will research better options on other airlines. I only used HA because I live here plus I had a lot of HA miles to use.

unfortunately the 330 doesn't fly from HNL to SJC. You get the 321 and I've flown 1st class and it wasn't the same standard as the 330. Not worth ubering from SFO to Sunnyvale just to fly the 330.
As always a fine review. In the past 18 months my wife and I have taken 7 trips from LAX to Hawaii to visit our son & family on Maui, all flights on Hawaiian We have flown 1 first class, 1 economy and the rest have been Extra Comfort trips. All except one from LAX to OGG. One was to HNL with a connection to OGG. I like the extra pitch of the EC seats even though I am only 5'11''. Until, I believe it was June of 2019, one extra feature of the EC seats was the in-flight entertainment the movies were free. Now all seats receive free IE. The Hawaiian First Class was great but for a trip of 5 hours, just too rich for my budget. That particular trip was a special trip. For those unaware, Hawaiian now offers a Basic Economy too. (Gee, do I sound like an ad for the airline?) Keep up the good work!
Nice video it is funny that I was on the same flight as you in both recent Hawaiian Airlines video and even saw you at the airport I am sad and mad that I didn’t recognize you.
@@sanspotter doing well my friend I'm a little displaced but not having been on my bike in the week but I've got something cooking remember I told you the collaboration video Sanspotter meets The Mountainbiker!!!! I now base my flights on how much the seats recline because of my back. I won't ever fly economy again so for PE seats I have to watch a bunch of UA-cam videos on which airline has the best PE seats and I read Flyertalk posts as the people at that site fly alot. Or I try to see if I can afford business class but flying to Europe from Hawaii is always pricey. I'd rather spend a little more money to save my back.
Girth vs Length...you had me worried for a while !! The food looked and probably tasted awful. Premium economy is all about the seat and the leg room but should also offer a better class of food and wine !! Cost cutting by the look of things. Always enjoy your reviews mate and thanks again !!
The extra cost is for extra legroom. Period. What you were served to eat does not qualify as a "hot meal". At best, it was an "enhanced snack" and not necessarily edible. A nice, thick (unheated) deli sandwich or sub would cost them maybe five bucks and be much more appreciated.
I just flew Hawaiian and was totally disappointed at the meal. Not expecting it to be that bad….that so called sandwich….I didn’t pack a lunch like I normally do. I did however pack food on my return flight. The bathrooms stunk so bad. I didn’t like having to go to the rear of the plane to get an additional drink given their high prices. I’ll stick with Alaska in the future.
I appreciate the video, but unless you're tall the extra 5 inches in length wouldn't be worth it (unless the cost is very small). The biggest complaint of most people are shrinking seat widths and fatter passengers. Although, maybe it wasn't an accident there was an empty seat next to you. Perhaps, regular economy/coach fills up well before an option that costs more...thus the opportunity for less than full capacity on those seats.
Totally with you Scott on HAs food offering. After flying Auckland to JFK on Hawaiian, I could have easily munched on that seat cushion after the prepackaged nasties served up. Saving grace was a quick, ravenous, scoff at the food court whilst in transit at HNL. Why not offer prepaid menu upgrades like many regional french airlines (AirCalin, Air Austral etc) do? An opportunity to showcase local offerings surely. I'd happily drop more $$$s for a decent food & bev offering on long haul HA flights. HA could be a really good airline but for its food/bev and IFE offerings.
Did the cabin feel as old as it looked Scott? I’m looking at EC for a trip from Sydney to Honolulu and just don’t want to spend the cash if a QF flight would be a wiser choice. Great video though mate.
Thanks Daniel! It was starting to feel a bit old and worn out. I’d like to think they serve better food on international routes, so do make sure you compare it to what QF is offering before you make your choice!
Video was super helpful! We are flying for the first time EVER and headed to Hawaii. I'm trying to purchase "Personal Item" bags for the trip but Hawaiian does NOT list their carry on dimensions making it difficult to purchase. Was wondering if you had any advice? Is there more room than other airports or less? About the same? Thsnk you in advance!!
it is NOT worth it. Width is the important part. If you pay extra for extra seat pitch you will always be sitting next to other tall / big people who take up more width and make you uncomfortable. it is actually WORSE that economy seating.

12th best? How many destinations does LH serve in the US? If it’s 13, I think we’re screwed... 😬😬😅
SANspotter from what I counted they serve about 20 in the US, but San Diego was only 4% lower than the #1 airport on the list so that’s not too bad

This video isn’t accurate. There is no “Premium Economy” on HA. Extra Comfort is not marketed as a Premium Economy product.
It's how hawaiian markets the product and scott talks about it in the video
They can call it what they want, but the fact of the matter is that it’s a “premium” economy seat with 5 extra inches of leg room.
It is their premium economy, they just call it Extra Comfort. who cares
