Synopsis:
Cheng Shao Shang is a young girl who was forced to grow up alone after most of her family had to leave to fight in a bloody war. Thus she becomes stubborn and untrusting. She fends for herself in a town populated by people like her, who have been left behind by the war.

I like the way he's loving her in his own way without pressuring her to reciprocate his feelings

He calmly and deliberately used the opportunty to drop a bomb, to make her realize he was claiming ownership and just tolerating that she play and feed the little brother of no consequence ("dear" A Yao)... for now. Making indirect use of the parents' astonishment to have her look at him differently too. Adding to his moves of holding her tight in dangerous situations while telling her "Have no fear, I'm here". Pressure indeed, "steel in a velvet glove", and we'll soon witness his literal steely grip and coercive protection in a few coming episodes.

Hot stuff for dreams, these, together with the "I am the man who has long fallen for you, but you have no interest - Shiyilang" (ep8) with a fiery hooded gaze, that had Shaoshang pale rather than blush, like here. This drama is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I love the mix of romance, battles, and funny moments. It's going to be less light hearted in the episodes from 42, but I'm still with it. Until the end of August, when I'll be clamoring for more together with the rest of the addicted crowd. 😂
That General showed such a chivalrous and romantic gesture yet he was also naughty in telling her parents she undressed him and tended to his wound.
I love that he made sure that they all know that she undressed him 😂😂

The respect he shows her is just everything. Every time she asks a question that he can answer he does and respects her understanding of any situation. It’s so nice to see her treated as a intelligent person with value. Even when he helps her break up with the boyfriend he gives her the information and let’s her choose and make the decision. He’s just a good dude to her. Plus his taking down her mom humiliation when he proposed was just swoon worthy

so well written and directed all the power in the world and Ling Buyi uses this to show everyone how he feels and the way Niao Niao brushes it off epitomizes her character as well

I think SS feels attraction towards LBY. She did from the first moment she saw him when he rescued her. I think that’s why when Lou Yao mentioned other ladies having a crush of LBY SS quickly changes the subject and reminds Lou Yao about their engagement. It’s like she’s rushing to remind herself of their engagement so she isn’t distracted by LBY and her attraction to him. She only acts nervous around LBY. She doesn’t act that way around Lou Yao or Yuan ShanJi
I agree, she does like him. You can see it in her eyes when they are close face to face, and you can see that she regrets the fact that LBY, never told her anything before her engagement to LY, when her parents tell her that LBY has feelings for her.
For SS it's being to close to the fire. She says it herself to be married to and live with the God Statue everyone worships scares her. He is very intense around her but it's because he loves her so much she is his only weakness. Could you imagine the carnage if someone actually killed her. It would be a blood bath of epic proportions. Just attempting it got 7 families and a princess reminded of his power. She loves him but is constantly at war with herself about him. Poor thing is so wilful and stubborn.

So she never noticed that she always dropped her defenses when she was with him. He was the only one that saw her cry, she was completely vulnerable with him. Every time that her mother punished her, she never once cried not even when she was paddled. She cried in front of LY once but that was because of the little girl not herself

Awe the things we do for love that don't get unnoticed 😏. Her parents gaze at him when he said they were intimate with each other 😯. That should have told Yao to up his game on wooing Niao Niao
A'Yao doesn't have the stones to handle Niao Niao. She is definitely the pants wearer in that relationship. Also, by marrying him, she would end up in the same situation she just crawled out of, cruel bullying elders and no love. She doesn't know what love is at this point, and was just ok to have a friend to call husband.
Ling Buyi have some serious balls in this scene with her so call boyfriend & parents just saying

One of the best scenes LBY showing power quite the opposite of Yao's boyish innocence. CSS parent's faces were a sight to be hold realising LBY feelings towards their daughter.
Uploaded from Tuesdays to Saturdays which means 5 episodes per week. There are 56 episodes in total part-1 is 29 episodes and part-2 is 27 episodes or is it the other way around? Three weeks and 16 episodes gone which means 40 episodes left to watch in the duration of 8 weeks practically 2 months.

Yes this scene was so spectacular and impactful! Idk how many times I rewatched it, the bgm and the scene when the general was leading and escorting them was just so powerful and only highlights the big difference between what a man vs a boy can do. Anything for his beloved girl, General Ling will go above and beyond expectations. I also couldn't stop squealing about their conversation too, he talked so affectionately to her oh my heart!
Part 1 will end at episode 27 this week.😞And the 2nd part wont air until sometime in the fall and of course that can change anytime.2 youtubers who cover C-dramas AvenueX and Marcus both said the chinese government have been changing rules for dramas and dramas are not allowed to have too many episodes anymore. How these dramas are getting around the rule is by having part 1 and part 2. You are now seeing more dramas like that which for us as viewers will have to wait longer for our favorite dramas.

The reality was marrying into royalty was kinda jumping off a cliff for these girls. You would be involved in scheming, assassination attempts and everything. So sometimes parents who knew about political stuff rather marry their daughter off to a well off family that is minimally involved in the royal court.
yes, but remember, he is reputed as the literal god of war, has an extremely complicated family dynamic, and that's all before anyone even knew of his real identity. they have a reason to be cautious 😅

Ling Buyi....is the boss. He has no shame when it comes to Niao Niao. The way he told everyone about his encounter with Niao Niao was beautiful...there's no shame in his game. Her parents reaction was hilarious. The best way to ruin a potential engagement is to suggest you had an intimate relationship with the bride....and demonstrate it by escorting her into the city....talk about having balls of steel. The man knew exactly what he was doing. Niao Niao will never forget this moment....and neither will her parents.
