    What a beautifully tranquil interpretation of the 1st movement.

    Igor Zhukov's aesthetics are unique in his approach to performance, as highly evidenced here. I revel in the depths of his sonority and sheer perfection as a listening experience. R.I.P. Igor Zhukov, one of the greatest performers of Chopin and Scriabin ever to grace this planet. Thank you ADGO for this fascinating post.

    The polyphony is so special and tasteful. I had never listened to such unique interpretation before this.

    A unique, gorgeously played performance; one can hear the influence of his teacher Neuhaus.

    A revelation! What a special artist. He doesn't interpret here. He lives the piece and we are richer for it.

    Igor Mikhailovich Zhukov (born 1936) is a Russian pianist, conductor and sound engineer.... studied first with Emil Gilels and then with Heinrich Neuhaus. Thank you ADGO very much for the beautiful upload

    I remember very well the Recitals Zhukov gave in Munich in the late 80ths and the early 90th eath year. Very intense performances. Great ton hear a part of a London recital. Wants more !

    Thanks for this amazing and very personal performance, ADGO! I never listened to a performance which captured the melancholy of b minor so immediate - the first movement sounds like a dreamy meditation.

    What a fascinating contrast to the performance of the late William Kapell. But Zhukov has such a sensitivity in his interpretation.

    This live performance is one of the most moving performances of Chopin/58, and it may well be Zhukov's greatest performance. Thankfully, this was well recorded - no piano banging, unlike the Moscow recitals of the same year. The only competition is Kate Liu's performance from 2015, and a horribly marred and fragmented performance of the second movement by Tatiana Ryumina.

    • @dariodangelo8938
      @dariodangelo8938 6 років тому +1

      ioannes tritemius this is a superlative rendition, I agree. Listen to Gilels’ rendition too (but not on YT, live, better on Spotify, studio recording DGG)👍😉

    Absolutely no pulse-self indulgency to an extreme.

    • @ADGO

      There is a pulse, but if you're expecting it to be similar to your own, you'll just remain dismissive like this.
