I received an email from C1 this morning highlighting this feature. They should have linked your video to the email. This presentation is better that what I saw from C1. This "match look" feature is pretty awesome. It's just one click! I can color match in Photoshop, but it takes a lot longer than this one button. Hmmm I need to give CaptureOne another shot. Thank you for sharing!
Revolutionary would be for C1 to actually respect the perpetual license owners. You pay 350eur and you get software that is not supported and doesn't get even minor updates within weeks. All this is just a catch up to Adobe. Unfortunately they are catching up with pricing policies and poor support much quicker than with the features.
In my opinion, C1 is the best when you want to provide to the cliente professional pictures, it's just perfect. For more "artistic" stuff i prefer lightroom, the image looks less digital. IN MY OPINION.
Some of these tools are very cool. Things like the match look, I'm feeling somewhat ambivalent of. Firstly, its amazing that it can help people get great results quickly. But it also removes incentive of mastering this artistic craft. It's becoming too easy. For me, it removes much of the 'art' aspect when it's just a 1-click solution that anyone can learn to do in less than an hour. There's something in spending years of learning these techniques and finding your own way that creates foundational understanding that you cannot achieve otherwise. It is still very impressive technology though.
The AI selection brush is great, but quite often still misses parts of what I'm trying to select. I can't quite do away with the other brush tools yet! 😂
the match thing is cool and maybe better than other program's offerings, but tbh to me it still seems like a strictly inferior solution to the work being done by folks shooting actual reference materials to map pixel-by-pixel via LUTs. I don't agree that the results presented within with this tool look like they're at a level I'd be happy with. But then again, I already invested the time in learning how to do that work. That said, I do like the new masking stuff, good to see C1 catching up with LR. I'd like to switch and the masking was a HUGE barrier. I was able to edit hundreds of family visit photos recently the same day I took them (blasting away happily) by using people detection masks. Kind of a miracle tbh
Do you know of any good tutorials on how this is done manually as you mentioned you do? I'd like to practice, and see how different the manual approach is versus this 1-click thing now.
@@TCMx3 My problem is, I wouldn't even know what terms to use to search for this instruction. DO you have recommendations of said books and equipment? If it helps, I weekly calibrate my displays, so I can somewhat comprehend color-talk if that's something that's needed before opening up such books or equipment.
The match look feature is okay, it really depends on the images being used. I can do this quickly in PS with gradient maps and LUT's. I'll stick with my old version C1 23. The masking features are inferior to LR IMHO. Capture One lost me as a long term customer when they changed the loyalty program so drastically. The upgrades are ridiculous and the subscription model pricing is even worse. It has it's place in my workflow, but I see no reason to upgrade. Destroyed the editing industry? I don't think so...
yup, and still no app for Android, no cloud sync, no native support for Loupedeck etc. It's only destroying your wallet and its reputation so far, while trying hard to catch up with Adobe for AI
Sergio - how does it work? I have for a few years now paid the annual fee for the licence to use Capt One. My current version says Capture One 23 Pro 16.2. I thought by paying for the licence each year, that allowed you to download any updates (meaning I didn't buy just one version to keep forever, like we used to do). My current licence is still valid for 8 month, so I went to try and download the new version and it only allowed me to use it as a trial. I applied my licence number to it and it said that this licence did not allow me to use the new version. It is now trying to charge me another year's fee to use the new version. Do you have any advice to what is going on? Cheers
Hey Philip! The new update is 16.5, I just went and added my existing license key and downloaded the update from their website. Not quite sure why yours isn't working (yet), but your license should cover the update without having to pay more! Try reaching out to their support team, they are a very helpful bunch.
It appears that you have bought a perpetual license some time ago, and that you are not subscribed to the software. If you are subscribed, all the updates are included. If you buy a perpetual license, it will give you access to the features at the time of purchase, but it will not give you access to newer features when they come out at a later date.
@@mathieubourlion7564 Hey guys - thanks a million for your help here. Yes, you are correct. When I tried to do it the other day, I put the code in quickly and did not notice that I was putting in my old perpetual code. I tried again more carefully and found my new yearly subscription code. It worked a treat, and now I have all of these new features. Timing could not have been more perfect. I have an all-day shoot tomorrow, so will have hundreds of images to get to my client by end of week. This will help no end.
perpetual licenses with C1 is basically a scam, so if that's what you've done, it's a lost case. No support, no updates. You'd expect that buying 16.2 should give you updates until the version 17 is released (that used to be the case and that's what other brands do + they still support old versions for long often). But not, in C1 once 16.3 is released your 16.2 is basically a legacy, and you need to spend hundreds on the update. Or you pay tons for subscription and you won't be even able to brows the catalog once you stop..
i feel the match look will not make ppl learn how to color grade ....it will make ppl steal your style and make it for them very easy .....most ppl will not take the time to learn how to do it this is why so many ppl buy presets cuz they dont want to spend hours editing photos .....so this new tool is nice but lets be real most ppl will just copy other looks and put them on there photos and keep it moving to the next one
haha i noticed that as well but actually liked it compared to all the youtube kiddies that hold it in front of their mouth. It's a trend that needs to die and they probably don't even know why they do it. @Sergio P. Studio on the other hand understands why and most likely doesn't want the look of the ugly thing on his shirt and i'm guessing doesn't have a lav or a boom pole with a solid mic, so he put the mic as close as possible to his mouth using a giant magic arm that to be fair after a few moments blends into the background. Now less post work in the audio front and is somewhat funny and even poking fun at the others. But yes, first thing i noticed besides that giant caterpillar under his nose lol. That is such a Sergio like stach for sure!
Everytime I have to pay for Capture One I cry honestly, I just paid the full year a few days ago and damn that hurts, BUT it is so good tho. that being said that "Match Look" is not as precise as I would love it too be , cause I tried it on my own pictures with the same lighting, just using one of the pic that I color corrected manually as a reference and applied it to the same picture without correction and weellll it's not 100 accurate , more 30 percent.
Very sad that Capture One has crossed boundaries and is now stealing other photographer's creative and intellectual property. If I'm understanding your video, now you can drag and drop another photographer's image - and Capture One's AI will duplicate the edits of that image and apply to your own? That's wrong on every level.
Move with the times, or get left behind 🤷♂️ it’s a tool like any other - film photographers were mad when digital came, purists get mad at retouchers, and now this helps your eye see what others see; so you can learn and understand what you’re doing. My IP as an artist has been used and duplicated and that’s a GOOD THING. I’ve already used that knowledge and reaped the benefits it gave me - what machine learning can’t do is be creative from scratch. So much of a finished photo happens at the time of creation, not just after pushing a couple sliders.
Glad you’re not a scammer who sells presets. I’m excited for this update.
Neverrr!

Just hit "M" to toggle the mask on and off -- thanks for this video!
and "alt" instead switching brush/eraser all the time :)
A couple lifesavers here 🙌 thank you
I hope they start supporting Hasselblad too.
Thanks Sergio! Great tutorial on the new features!

Now, this is how I'm going to boom my microphone from now on! Like a boss!
It sucks to have to pay for so many different subscriptions just for a full featured stills workflow.
Stoked on finding another islander
Curious how well the matching works, and the actual inner workings, because it often is MORE than pushing sliders.
Light room person selection is better imo. They split the eyes into sections of the eye. Same for other parts of the person.
Wow.... This is pretty amazing. Glad I stumbled upon your video. Newly subscribed.
Thanks for watching! ✌️
Has clip on mic, uses some sort of magic arm to dangle it. ^^
Does match look work on the iPad. Version?
good question
Q: What’s your view on LR profiles?
The AI selection brush is great, but quite often still misses parts of what I'm trying to select. I can't quite do away with the other brush tools yet! 😂
So when will be available?
The update is out now!
@@sergiopstudio what is the number of this version update?

Don't mean to bring the grim mood here (or maybe a little bit), but Adobe will be buying this in like 3 minutes. Hope not, but...
Capture one just destroyed itself with this lame update, match look does not really work and face masking is so embarrassing incomplete.
So sour dude, chill
