Originally, Brad Hawkins was supposed to be a replacement for Tommy Oliver, because the late JDF played Adam Steele in Cybertron pilot (which was an adaptation of Kikaider), but since Tommy got popular enough in MMPR, they decided to bring Tommy back as the White Ranger, while Brad Hawkins played Ryan Steele (originally Adam Steele) in VR Troopers (originally Cybertron)
You're mistaken on ONE aspect.....Cybertron was going to be an adaptation of Metalder, Saban then decided to keep the show as a team based series and added Spielban (where JB's and Kaitlyn's outifts came from) to it and thus re-named it VR Troopers, for season 2 he used Space Sheriff Shaider for Ryan Steele's new outfit.

Whoa. Now that looks exactly like him. You done a great job on this. Can you do him as the Gold Ranger? He was originally going to be the Gold Ranger after VR Troopers ended. They were gone put VR Troopers in the same continuity as the Power Rangers.
Cool figure man! I think if they had decided to pursuit the idea of JDF in a new franchise the plot for Cybertron/VRT would've been way better if they had JDF reprise his role as Tommy since the story was centered around Steele trying to find his dad and Tommy was an orphan. Plus we would've got to see this dude as the white ranger. Makes me think about who Zordon would've chosen as the new leader. Maybe Kimberly with Billy as her second in command like in Kakuranger with Tsuruhime and Sasuke.

Can't take the credit. I got it from another video I saw on UA-cam. Unfortunately I can't find it in my history or my likes. The creator suggested that Saban should've had JDF reprise his role as Tommy rather than create a new one for Cybertron/VRT and use JDF's rabid fanbase to help the new series gain a following. I think that might have worked out since it was Tommy's fans who got JDF to return to MMPR by demand. The vid was basically an essay on how Saban could've monopolized the Fox Kids lineup to create his own universe like Marvel has been doing for the past decade and a half. I'd hate to lose another good one again so I'll be sure to like and sub.
