This is very possible, there a lot of channels on yt that look for missing persons in rivers etc and the amount of remains they find is unbelievable in their cars.
Many years ago a guy went missing out Ashhurst way, he left home in his car and was never seen again. Years later a hunter in the bush came across his car hidden in the bush, his skeleton inside. He had run off the road and over the years the bush and scrub had completely covered the car. Good that his family got closure. I hope the same for this family also.
Maybe they should air these cases on TV, now in 2025. There may be someone out there who can help solve this. I know it's a long shot, but you never know.
They should get one of those underwater search crews from America over here.. like adventures with purpose. They find people who were missing from the 70’s.
I love these videos but I was disappointed with this one: If a person and their car go missing it is usually because they have driven into an area of water but the team have not considered this. Peter was thought to have been dis-oriented, and looking at the route there was an area of water along the side of the road which he may have accidentally driven into.
Did anyone search the river...? Lots of missing people are found in waterways in their vehicles as they run off the road, especially in the dark hours of the evening etc.
Or into thick bush. Near where I lived as a child a woman went missing with her car, was found about 16 years later in thick bush off the motorway, about 100m outside a large town.
Finding them more in canals & retention ponds here in Florida, even with minimal water covering the vehicle, but nobody wanted to look in these places because of snakes & alligators
My Nana had a Simca like that one . She forgot the handbrake one day and it ended up down the driveway and across the street in a power transformer . literally fried it
Just a thought are there water ways in that area they have found cars with human remains under water. Sounds like Peter lost consiousness and drove into a lake OR river? Or maybe not if they found the car?
All of these missing people, my heart hurts for their families. Death is a most difficult thing to go through, but it brings closure to families. People can grieve and hopefully, move on. But when a loved one is missing, there’s never closure. The families are simply left dangling, their emotions left in limbo. I’m so sorry for them. 😢
I think I see an old car no colour off the side of Mangatangi stream bridge, that is near the red fox tavern on sh2, if that sighting was correct, they said there was no car at the tavern carpark but did he crash not far from there?
@mista2621 dont know where that is, it showed on the map a small bridge called Mangatangi stream bridge, just up the bank covered in brush looks to be an old wreck
I remember seeing this episode on TV few years ago and watching it again now, I feel so sad for his family and friends not knowing what happened. I’m sure one day someone will find him or the car, and there will be an answer. Stranger finds than this surface eventually.
Think it's time in NZ for a cold case unit to be set up full time to start investigating these old missing cases and unsolved murder cases. There are alot! Technology and science are a lot more advanced now, so it may provide some closure on these unsolved cases.
This is so sad. It seems like a lot of people loved and cared about Peter.
Peter and his car have to be underwater somewhere along his way home!

Nobody watches TV anymore
It's being aired on UA-cam, right now, where you watched it.
They should add these to cold cases show…

@crueltyfreecolorist1025 yes, Dan is doing searches in Australia.
We just need a spam to come to New Zealand@@rhondamathew885
Omg i was going to comment the same thing lolll
Anytime a person + car missing I think of AWP, esp if likely medical event
My first thoughts…
Thankyou for sharing this, perhaps one day he will be found
I believe he will be found under water with his car , contact Downunder
Dan who scans water ways with sonar
I agree he may be in the water.

This is frustrating because they are not considering if the cars under water.

Yes my mind went straight to a body of water esp if his diabetes was playing up sometimes people act like they are drunk and confused.
Yep , I agree

Water Channels or River crossings...in those days,it was..just bare necessity roads..
So many vanish under water. I wonder if lakes and sea were searched.
I'm about to spend 2 hours on Google Earth again.
Yeah same I can't wait I have a small kayak and a sonar for scanning bodies of water I'm so excited
It sounds as though he got disoriented and fallen down in an embankment. It's always important to have something to eat..

possiilities on this seem to be a) went off the road into water or thick bush outside the search area; or b) something really bizarre happened.

Do you mean up by the Marae on Mangatangi Rd?

Omg I remember this case my father was one of many who searched for him I was about 14
Rest in peace, Peter... where ever you are 🕊❤️🌈
i think him and the car have gone into water, they should have a look where he could go off the road into the water

💔 I couldn't imagine the not knowing what happened 😔

Will be in the drink but that could be anywhere when you're only 50kms from water at the most.
In the water Im sure
Very sad for his family😢. Passed out in his car
Saying the chrome strips were to modern is wrong as most early panel strips are stainless steel and last indefinitely .
He'll be submerged in the body of water 🌊 car number plate and by now there will be no bones
Sounds very dodgy the simca with one plate number out probably need to look into that a bit more
That stupid music.
Hi Jennifer
Yep I think he's still missing underwater be cause who would steal a simmca.
So he randomly developed type 1 diabetes in his 40s? I didn't know that was possible.
Edit: Yes you can. Just looked it up.😮
Yep for sure. Husband diagnosed Type 1 at 47yrs. Now 69 so been living with it for over 20 years now.
