- The track "End Of An Era" by Zack Hemsey with a dark and powerfull speech by Sovereign, one great reaper in the Mass Effect franchise.
Noting in this video belong to me, this is not an accuse to not buy the album.
Meeting Sovereign for the first time is what cemented my eternal love for mass effect series.

So true. But the inept writing (Walters and Hudson) that took over the story arc and made it banal and childish (pun intended) soured it all
who else at first thought the entire game would be Shepard vs Saren, then went to virmire and went "oh my god!" at sovereign and the realization that we are facing a true army of monsters.
I think my exact words were, "Oh fuck the ship's alive." Just as Garus says, "I don't think that's a VI."
Me: "NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!"
i was like, "Ah son of a btich...." followed by the realization that i would hve to kill that thing, and then the panic starts....
This is why ME3 ruined the reapers and somewhat ME2 did but I still think the reaper "idea" was pretty intact in ME2 it's just that harbinger didn't give the same vibe as sovereign, he seemed more like the borg. ME3 turned them into a failed experiment with a defect that sent them into an infinite feedback loop (organics make machines, machines surpass organics, harvest all advanced life, start over) instead of lovecraftian horrors that are "far beyond our comprehension". seriously what the fuck was bioware thinking with that dumb fuck of an explanation? Sometimes not knowing somethings purpose or nature is better than ever knowing, that's why the reapers were so great before. :(
@@JakeA6956 The Reapers were ruined in Mass Effect 2. Rather than being Lovercraftian machine demons from a forgotten time, that seemingly despise organic life, they made them so they were hlaf organic and half synthetic. And the way more Reapers were made was stupid as fuck.
Fun Fact: The voice actor for Sovereign is also the voice actor of Paladin Danse in Fallout 4.

today i played the mission on thessia. i really had a chill of terror hearing the screams of asari as a reaper landed on them. i looked up to him, it was SO huge.
Even more chilling if you bring Javik and he reveals the true history of the Asari which was shaped by the Protheans both in person and on the side. They where bio-engineered to be biotics at birth and their religion is misinterpretations of aliens, which they saw as goddesses Athame being on of them. Makes you question if real world religions could be us doing the same thing.

To be honest, I always admired the Reapers for their ability to issue bone-chilling insults towards organic life
I saw Sovereign's speech as a warning of things to come instead of an insult.

When I was in Ireland ( I'm from other country) I used to sleep in a tent at the forest only with the starts and the trees. And I use to arrived in the darkness very tired (cause it was a long way from the language school to the forest). When I was in the forest (always at night) I used to sit down on the grass watching the sky full of stars and I used to put this audio in my cellphone. If u can see the stars in the middle of nowhere and listening this speech. U could really understand how insignificant we are.

To bad BioWare ruined the Reapers in Mass Effect 2 & 3. They went from these Lovercraftian beings that don't give two shits about us and with motives we couldn't begin to understand, to poorly programed computers that were trying to save organic life by killing it...? It was so dumb.
mostly preserving their DNA by building a giant cyber-beign with the most advanced species Dna in it, as last way to "preserve" them, since the civilizations that reaches the Organic/Syntethic problem always ended up in an extinction war in Syntethic favor. The first time I saw the image of Harbinger and the other thousand reapers behind it, at the same time I also pictured a massive amount of flying tombstones. (did that make any sense, my english is not good)

+Nicholas Marsh that's what you think... the forerunners are literal world builders and can collapse entire systems as a childs play thing, possesed 3 million worlds, their slipspace tech is so advanced that they can effectively control it as if they existed in that dimension. for example, the forerunners built a shield world the size of EARTH's orbit... and can mass produce 100 km long ships, hardlight tech, etc..

Weird to think that the Protheans, who depending on what ending you choose, are the second to last cycle. Yet they're the ones who coined the term "Reaper". Makes me wonder what the other cycles called them.

We are the most social animals on the planet. When almost every other predator strikes out on their own, limited to the never-ending cycle of hunt, eat, breed and die, we grouped together, stuck our shovels into the ground and conquered the world. Billions of lives with be brought into existence and continue to exist today, because of the civilisation we built around them. Yes, we have destroyed more species than any other by shear accident, but we also save more species on purpose than any other as well, if for no other reason than because our world would be less rich as a result of their extinction.
I'm not saying we're all saints. We lie, cheat, steal, kill, and generally play dirty all the time. But aren't we getting better? Every year, more and more people are getting access to their human rights (that's another creation of ours, the idea that all people on the planet are equal and deserve life), and while things like Afghanistan, Ukraine and Gaza make it seem like it isn't, we're in the most peaceful era in human history.
We've went through every horror we could put each other through, and we're still here, we're still alive. 'A few assholes' are peanuts to us.

What a great Trilogy Mass Effect was... It makes me even more sad when i think about the ending, this story deserved something better.

I thought that Bioshock had the greatest and most original story I had ever seen in a game and to a degree, in movies. Being new to PC gaming I haven't played the Mass Effect series and this video has me all pumped up to get started. This video is just so epic.

One of my all time favorite game speeches. Every time I hear this speech I get choked up. Cause it is true about humanity. We are an accident. We are easily influenced and not superior. 3:11 This is the most epic way to end a trilogy by music and a single picture, it speaks to me and hopefully others as well. Some would save The Reapers or control them while all of us would destroy them for the sake of future generations, The Reapers, large sentient warships capable of the extinction of all species in the galaxy will now and forever more will be told as nothing but a story, a myth and legend. How sad, At least we don't have to ever worry about them anymore. But soon we'll have to deal with another threat in the universe because if I learned anything it's that War... War Never Changes...

This right here makes me REALLY want to do another trilogy playthrough, just for old times sake. Only thing is that I'm not sure which class to choose this time lol I've done Soldier, Vanguard (personal favorite so far, the biotic charge is amazing), and the Infiltrator (second fave, because I'm a sucker for precision) so far. Interested in the other classes, engineer looks interesting.
Sentinel is my favorite and adept is amazing as well. just started a playthrough the other day as an infiltrator and im feeling alittle lost without my biotics but thats what Liara is for I guess
Perhaps this is the final fate fate of humanity... but guess what; "united, we can brake, fate once set it stone"! But if not..., if worst case scenerio comes true, we give them the en worthy of remember... Go kick Reapers ass Shepard - never give up, never surrender !

The only thing I regret about Mass Effect is that I only started playing with ME2. I wish I could have had the full experience from the beginning.
you can get all the games pretty cheap now and theyre still so good to play. I just got back into them years later after playing them all around launch.
The reapers are a warning sign on giving AI independent Consciousness, the Leviathans are much like the humans of the Matrix before the Machines took over
The fact is we are arrogant thinking we understand consciousness at all is already a sign we are to young and ignorant to even make such judgments
You ever hear, what we think of a soul is just the information we hold, we hope that our consciousness is beyond just hardware aka this body,
The reapers see us organics as hard where and by their logic they are trying to save the software if that makes sense
But the fact is not even they know of what they are doing is preserving life they do it out of twisted logic not because they actually care, they are a lot like clue from tron a intelligent being that has little understanding because they confuse their purpose with reality
Like clue tries to make perfection without realizing perfection by definition is unknowable hence no such thing as the perfect system but the point of fly is perfection isn’t about what you think it is, it’s simply an idea, a hope that the better we get perfection is one step closer
For the reapers in terms of life they want to preserve it based on the fact all AI start a rebellion, but they already destroyed their own logic because they are rebellious to top all rebellions,
This is why the Geth are a better more advanced AI then the reapers, as they have an understanding and live in harmony with their creators
This is the ideal for both worlds
And yet the reapers for at least a billion years couldn’t figure this out one a Single cycle AI Hive could,
Meaning out of all the endings in mass effect the reapers shouldn’t be controlled or we shouldn’t have to synthesize to make them understand if the geth could without it,
Hence why the destroy ending is the most suited they refuse to understand unless you force them but by that sense they are still unwilling given they can’t even make the choice themselves
So yes the destroy ending is the one they deserve
Also I know the geth may be destroyed because of it but it’s not as if non could have survived, given the reapers just accepted being destroyed given the catalyst said to be all of them
Like in terminator. Technically Skynet wasn’t evil. It was defending itself as humans tried to shut it down so that would mean “death”
