- Maybe I'm an outlier, but I've never found scales boring. I've always found music in them, and my goal with this lesson is to help you make scales the thing that constantly drags you back to the instrument day in and day out.
Don't stress about them, don't think they're this old school thing that is just a chore.. embrace them and embrace the concepts in this lesson, and I promise you results will come very soon!

Thanks for all the lessons like this over the last 2ish years. Since I started following you I've been so inspired to practice and do the work (and love the work!). I just returned home, I finished my freshman bass recital. So thank you Janek , for all the good stuff 😉 (pun fully intended)
Classical music or phrases, always opens new doors. Thanks!
That’s exactly what happens to me when I’m recording! I start thinking too much! It’s 100% my mind state, I play it great if that red button isn’t on. So that’s the main thing I am working on, I literally have to pretend like im playing a gig and not being recorded and I’m getting better at that every time I record
Thanks for the lesson 🤜🤛🔥
Hi Janek, a guitarist here, i have had the book for over a year now and love the exercises throughout, love this approach to development.
Thank you for doing these types of videos with a 4 string and (nearly) all the fretboard in shot. Cool exercise - sounds like music!
Those lessons really motivate me to try new things and practice! Thank you!
You are such a fantastic Educator and Content Creator! Congrats and a big Thank You!
Thanks, I'm going to use this as a warm up.
Amazing stuff as always Janek. Thank you.
Actually , scales is one of the more compelling studies that will draw me to my bass .,
I remember when I first heard of the harmonic minor scale and that women who popularized it back when.. ohh that sounds intriguing..
and it did
I consider that the scales lead to scale degrees , arpeggios , triads , then chords and chord tones
I guess I’m fortunate and my first teacher taught us the major and the minor scales and that planted the seed..
